Robin Goodfellow should come to live here around the 1st of March. You can see some pictures of him here

http://stardustgirl.livejournal.com/120309.html

He's #4 (I hadn't thought of a name yet).

A leash may be good if there are feral dogs about (or can you trap the strays and send them of to Animal Control? They sound dangerous.) Jim Dandy was saved by a leash once as we were walking and a Golden came running up and attacked him out of the blue. The leash allowed me to yank him off the ground and hold him over my head (Toy Fox Terriers are fairly small... about 7 pounds, tops). He still needed vet care, though, but being able to lift him up saved his life.

The bird show your husband was at was also the show our local bird store guy was at. He and his wife are wonderful and have been quite acccomodating when I show up at their store in need of a dog hug (they have 2 rat terriers who stay in the shop with them, both are lovable and friendly as can be).Maureenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06531960628089822469noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19608656.post-1137969922683242042006-01-22T17:45:00.000-05:002006-01-22T17:45:00.000-05:00I enjoy sharing your winter walks in the woods. I...I enjoy sharing your winter walks in the woods. I, too, have been out a lot more this winter than in the past, walking at the Cincinnati Nature Center or other prime birding areas in SW Ohio. Because of the milder weather and a personal goal to bird more, I am making an effort to get out of the house. It is true that bad weather looks worse from inside the window!

I love hearing about and seeing photos of Chet. He seems like a perfect walking companion. Sometimes I take my dogs, a Lab mix and a Rott, along with me. One might think two large dogs would interfere with birding, but my girls are well-trained. They stay close by, respond to hand signals or whispered commands, and know to pause and wait when I am on the trail of a bird. I often wonder what they think. "What is she after? I don't smell anything interesting, do you?"Kathinoreply@blogger.com
