They don't deserve the image that they have. This breed is much friendlier than a lot of other breeds. Any breed can be dangerous if they want to be. A pit bull's teeth are just as sharp as a chihuahua's are. It's the human kind's fault and no other's for the breed's image. Pitbulls have such an incredibly inaccurate image. Anyone who owns a pitbull, and treats it decently, can tell you that pitbulls may be the best overall dog you could ask for. Loyal and eager to please, mine actually turned me into a dog lover just because he was so great. Between sensationalist news reports blowing one incident after another far out of proportion, and heartless, irresponsible people who choose to make their pitbull fight for them, your average person on the street who knows nothing about dogs will tell you that pitbulls are dangerous and you never know when they'll snap. Those same people will say it is beyond risky, that it's irresponsible for you to own a pitbull if you have kids. The fact of the matter is that they are good with kids and you can tell when they will snap, never if they are properly trained. I especially like how you pointed out that the smaller dogs are quite often aggressive, but it is viewed as cute and no big deal because of their inability to do any real harm. I will say that as a responsible owner you should mind the potential a pitbull has to be dangerous if you allow it. Often when I am discussing the issue of pitbulls being dangerous dogs, I like to compare them to a mixed martial artist or marine. The fact is that those are the most dangerous people based on their potential to inflict pain, but the chance of one of them getting into a fight is far less than your average jerk on the streets.Jeremiahnoreply@blogger.com
