The post for Fentanyl Patch‏ just might have saved my friend from serious adverse events, including respiratory depression and possible overdose. She was unaware of the recall and her pharmacy was also unaware. So Thank You.....
Vicki Berchem
Gilroy, Ca.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19598651.post-13155351363893367092008-02-18T09:53:00.000-08:002008-02-18T09:53:00.000-08:00A SERIOUS WARNING!! I don't understand why they are still on the market.
My son-in-law had cluster headaches and had tried numerous medications. In August of 2006, the doctor put him on Fentanyl patches. He did okay with the first box of patches. He got a refill and applied a patch around 3:00 p.m. At about 8:00 p.m., he told my daughter that he really didn't feel well. She suggested that he go lie down for a while. She went to check on him at 9:00 p.m. and he was dead, at 40 years of age, leaving behind a wife and 5 children.
I looked on the Internet about these patches and dozens of people have died using them. If there is the tiniest defect in the patch, it gives the body way too much medicine and basically shuts down ones system. His autopsy said he died of "acute Fentanyl overdose."
The sadness of it all. I don't understand why the government or somebody doesn't do something about it. Should the pharmaceutical company be liable for the upbringing of the children; and shouldn't the widow and her family be compensated in some way?
CarolynCPhillipshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02093066430538228880noreply@blogger.com
