"Ok, Honey!" his wife promised. Christmas Eve, the husband eagerly tells his wife, "Just park it in the driveway, Hon." Jumping out of bed on Christmas morning, he runs outside but finds only a rather small package wrapped in Christmas paper. Unwrapping the paper and opening the box, the husband pulls out a scale.

Haha...0-200 POUNDS in less than 5 seconds :0)Nikki Hoolihannoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19523334.post-1135738362704454782005-12-27T18:45:00.000-08:002005-12-30T20:23:04.893-08:00Kids DO Say the Darndest ThingsA few nights ago, we were eating dinner, and talking about ethnicities (is that a word?) Now, we're about as white as a family of pigmented people can possibly be, yet little Abigail, the six-year-old, decided something that night; she said, "I don't like Caucacians." We dutifully informed her that, she was a Caucacian. However, she rallied her spirits tolerably and "Oh," was her unaffected reply. :)

Here's another "Abby-Blab":

We were stopped at a stop light a few days ago, and Abby reads a sign in a restaurant window: "Open a beer too," she said. Mom and I found the sign she was reading; it said, "Open - Abierto."
"Abierto" is Spanish for "open."Nikki Hoolihannoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19523334.post-1135643634007667102005-12-26T16:20:00.000-08:002005-12-26T16:33:54.026-08:00Mmm-HmmI found this on the internet; gives me goosebumps every time I read it, so thought I would share it; Man! I wonder who wrote it!

"My Christian Commitment"

"I'm a part of the fellowship of the unashamed. The die has been cast. I have stepped over the line. The decision has been made. I'm a disciple of His and I won't look back, let up, slow down, back away, or be still.
My past is redeemed. My present makes sense. My future is secure. I'm done and finished with low living, sight walking, small planning, smooth knees, colorless dreams, tamed visions, mundane talking, cheap living, and dwarfed goals.
I no longer need preeminence, prosperity, position, promotions, plaudits, or popularity. I don't have to be right, or first, or tops, or recognized, or praised, or rewarded. I live by faith, lean on His presence, walk by patience, lift by prayer, and labor by Holy Spirit power.
My face is set. My gait is fast. My goal is heaven. My road may be narrow, my way rough, my companions few, but my guide is reliable and my mission is clear.
I will not be bought, compromised, detoured, lured away, turned back, deluded or delayed. I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice or hesitate in the presence of the adversary. I will not negotiate at the table of the enemy, ponder at the pool of popularity, or meander in the maze of mediocrity.
I won't give up, shut up, or let up, unitl I have stayed up, stored up, prayed up, paid up, and preached up for the cause of Christ.
I am a disciple of Jesus. I must give until I drop, preach until all know, and work until He comes. And when He does come for His own, He'll have no problems recognizing me. My colors will be clear!"Nikki Hoolihannoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19523334.post-1135642580319727142005-12-26T15:53:00.000-08:002005-12-26T16:16:20.370-08:00Meat'After that, He poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel with which He was girded. Then He came to Simon Peter. And Peter said to Him, "Lord, are You washing my feet?" Jesus answered and said to him, "What I am doing you do not understand now, but you will know after this." Peter said to Him, "You shall never wash my feet!" Jesus answered him, "IF I DO NOT WASH YOU, YOU HAVE NO PART WITH ME." Simon Peter said to Him, "LORD, NOT MY FEET ONLY, BUT ALSO MY HANDS AND MY HEAD!" John 13:5-9

'Then the Jews surrounded Him and said to Him, "How long do you keep us in doubt? If You are the Christ, TELL US PLAINLY." Jesus answered them, "I told you, and you do not believe. The works that I do in My Father's name, they bear witness of Me. But you do not believe, because you are not my sheep, as I said to you. MY SHEEP HEAR MY VOICE, AND I KNOW THEM, AND THEY FOLLOW ME. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; NEITHER SHALL ANYONE SNATCH THEM OUT OF MY HAND. My Father, who has given them to Me, IS GREATER THAN ALL; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father's hand. I and My Father are one."' John 10:24-30 NKJV

'...and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit...Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. If you abide in me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. By this My Father is glorified, that you bera much fruit; so you will be My disciples. AS THE FATHER LOVED ME, I ALSO HAVE LOVED YOU; ABIDE IN MY LOVE. If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father's commandments and abide in His love. THESE THINGS I HAVE SPOKEN TO YOU, THAT MY JOY MAY REMAIN IN YOU, AND THAT YOUR JOY MAY BE FULL." ' John 15:2-11 NKJV

"YOU DID NOT CHOOSE ME, BUT I CHOSE YOU AND APPOINTED YOU THAT YOU SHOULD GO AND BEAR FRUIT, AND THAT YOUR FRUIT SHOULD REMAIN, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you." John 15:16

"It is the glory of God to conceal a matter, but the glory of kings is to search out a matter." Proverbs 25:2 Thanks, Rachel :0)

"I CHARGE YOU, O DAUGHTERS OF JERUSALEM, DO NOT STIR UP NOR AWAKEN LOVE UNTIL IT PLEASES." Song of Solomon 8:4

"Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert." It was enjoyable in the beginning - I actually told Mom that I 'liked learning new things;' (it's the homeschooling - it does things to a would-be-normal teenager's brain...) But the last few weeks of school became positively depressing - and even gross. I've learned enough about primitive societies in sociology class and about Frued's theories (and the Professor's takes thereon) in psychology class, to last me the rest of my life and well into eternity, thank you much.
BUT. It's over, and I didn't fail a single class! :0) (Is it bad manners to report an 'A' in math, a 'B' in psychology, and 'B' in biology? Well, I'm happy for me, anyway :0)

Verses of the 'right now' season in my life: John 10:24-30 Provided I stick close to Him, He'll protect me and our relationship.
While reading those verses, I pictured a low stone wall - a sheep pen - filled with sheep. A tall Shepherd stands guard right in the middle of them all. The sheep crowd as close to their Protector as possible, and when any wolves jump the stone barrier, fangs bared, they are greeted promptly, with emphasis and grim finality by a solid whack from the Shepherd's staff, swung by the Shepherd like a baseball bat.
If I can stick close to my Shepherd, He'll defend me with, de ja vu, His very life. Lovely.Nikki Hoolihannoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19523334.post-1133551657567751262005-12-02T11:11:00.000-08:002005-12-30T20:30:59.960-08:00Talkin' to meself... Ooooo, we can pick different fonts!? Colors too! Methinks this'll be just grand. Right. So.
Did meet a lady from Kenya here at school. I told her that I was so excited to meet her because I thought that I was supposed to go to Kenya someday, she asked, "Like as a missionary or something?" before I even told her for what! (Yes, as a missionary) Mmm-hmm. Just a bit cool. Although the folks think I'm loopy...Dad kindly reminds me, whenever I mention the 'A' word, of all of the diseases found in that country. His favorite is the parasitic worm that matures in a person's body, and eventually works it way out - right out through the skin; "Hhhhhhello Worm!" I'm told it's quite painful - and there is no end of emphasis on the 'gross' factor. Ah, diesease. Maybe I can witness to the nasty things. :0)
So. The knee's healing slowly...have been driving and walking around a lot, though, and it's starting to complain - silly thing; doesn't it know I'm attempting to have a life?!Nikki Hoolihannoreply@blogger.com
