Take a deep breath and settle down.

Anyway, so why haven't I posted lately? Well live has been a little overwhelming lately. My 2 year old son, Tobey, just got diagnosed with Pervasive Developmental Disorder. Basically, it just means that Tobey has a speech delay. So it is not really serious but he does need lots of loving and attention (no problem here) and a special needs preschool (well that is a little bit of a problem). Tobey's doctors think that it is a high possibility that he will be caught up by the time that he is six but he needs lots of special therapy now. This preschool (by the way) costs more per month than our mortgage. Gee Whiz! (That is really the strongest term that I want to actually type out. I am really starting to realize that it is one thing to say something but another thing entirely to type it. Anyway...Totally off topic. Sorry.)

So we have to sell our house and I have about 2 weeks or so to get it ready and finish making all of my Christmas presents. Well so I have put so of the business stuff on hold for a minute or two. I am still making samples. Oh and I have also taken on some seamstress jobs. I am making 6 custom aprons for one person to give out as Christmas presents. Oh and I am also making 3 dresses for this nice woman's mother who has Alzheimer's. Thank God I have Keith's grandmother to help me though since I didn't have a pattern for the dress and only a sample.

Oh and the logo for the company has been finalized. A super cool designer named Chris Rank did it. You can find his work at his website. It is really impressive.

Oops well I actually thought I was gonna put up the logo but I am having a temporary problem. Look tomorrow for an update.Lizhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12817300050277878568noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19375170.post-1133325193632980482005-11-29T19:48:00.000-08:002005-11-29T20:33:13.643-08:00So What Happened to the NameWell, if you just came into this story than you haven't heard anything about my name problem. Here is how it went.
Scallywag Kids It sounds like an awesome name, right? Yeah, I thought it sounded cool, too. It brings to mind ideas of pegleged, snarly, parrot on shoulder pirates. That sit around and say ARGHHHH all day. I love pirates. They are so fun. (Well, I don't really like the realistic idea of pirates who burn things and are actually mean. I like the Disney idea of them. Of just the Johnny Depp idea of them.) They are so mischievous and rascally. And I just had this great image of toddlers ruling the high seas and all the cool similarities between pirates and kids. They both are out for themselves, they both utter mumbled gibberish and they both take hostages. These little toddler pirates in my mind ran around hoisting their diapers up the mast as a warning to all that stand in their way or even think about not handing over all of their hoarded juice boxes. They invaded entire towns to steal stores of goldfish crackers. They also rebel against any and every authority figure, especially at bedtime.
Well, it all seemed great until I read this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scallywag
basically, it says that a scallywag is not a rockin' pirate but carpetbaggers. Well, not exactly the image that I had in mind. The definition goes on to say that carpetbaggers weren't all that bad and could have just been white southerners that opposed slavery. None the less, this is not the image that I had in mind. I even toyed with the idea that maybe everyone was as sucky at history as I was and maybe they wouldn't know. But evidently, everyone else paid way more attention than me. I started to tell a couple people my new, super sweet name and a very common response was...."You mean like a carpetbagger?"
Drat...Foiled Again. Well maybe....
Maybe I am giving the public school system of Georgia to much credit. What do you think?Lizhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12817300050277878568noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19375170.post-1133241709875352852005-11-28T21:17:00.000-08:002005-11-28T21:21:49.883-08:00Tobey On the Run
Just a quick picture of one of my little men. This is Tobey (aka Turkey Tobey) at Botanical Gardens this year. He is such a little rascal.Lizhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12817300050277878568noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19375170.post-1133237201348902792005-11-28T19:34:00.000-08:002005-11-28T20:25:22.086-08:00So How Goes it in the Business WorldWell since this whole blog is supposed to be about my new business, with maybe a little bit of my life tossed in, let me tell you a little it.
I am in the process of starting Lollygag Kids which is a children's clothing and personalization company. I make a variety of gifts for babies and toddlers including handmade clothing, embroidered shirts and onesies, shirts with heat press transfers and knitted goodies. And let me tell you, I love it and it is very exciting. Sometimes though it is turns out to be my "baby" that takes more time than my real babies (I have two. More about them later).

I have gotten some things under way at least.

I have started my business plan (which is turning out to be way more long and convoluted than it really needs to be), gotten a federal tax ID (it feels good to be in cahoots with "The Man"), got a business license (unfortunately with the wrong name on it...More about this cliff hanger later) and started making some samples.Lizhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12817300050277878568noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19375170.post-1133233680597207702005-11-28T19:07:00.000-08:002005-11-28T19:28:49.963-08:00Keith is a rock starIt is totally amazing. I worked on getting this stupid thing to work for days. I was starting to get furious and frustrated and miffed and everything else that means mad so I decided to ask Keith. Keith (by the way) is my super cool husband who is not only a Georgia Tech grad but also one of the Lords of the Internet. Anyway, he worked on it for 30 minutes and got it to work. And he only got crabby once which ment it was no problem at all.

Thanks KeithLizhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12817300050277878568noreply@blogger.com
