It is so named because the house was home to Jeremy Martin, AKA Jeremy Chickenhed, who along with his compatriots would engage in fun like dressing up like a clowns and going to a party!

If you knew any of the victims you can leave a message and there is a link to donate funds for the victims.

You may have also noticed the rotating banner on the upper right hand side of the site. This is a link to the Chickenhed site, which you can add to your website/blog/MySpace account easily. Visit cdcstudios.com for code and instructions. Many thanks to Chris at cdcstudios for putting it all together. Please help out by reposting links to the donation site. The local dance community is reeling in the wake of these killings and the support we have been receiving from all over has helped us a great deal. Thank you.hardsciencehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14216001456567646041noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19308471.post-1143571405636540492006-03-28T10:04:00.000-08:002006-03-28T10:43:25.736-08:00Shootings in SeattleAs many of you may have heard, this past Sat the 25th at 7 AM 6 young people were killed at an afterparty. One of those that died, Chris aka Deacon808, hit me the hardest. He was a young DJ and producer, into breakcore and other hard dance music. We used to chat online about music and events, artists we both liked. When I heard the rumors that he was one of the 6, I kept hoping it was unfounded, then later that night it was confirmed by his mother that Chris had passed away.

Sunday I went to the house where it all took place, and walking up the street you could still see "NOW" spraypainted on the sidewalk. Many friends of those that died were there, and the neighborhood came and supported them. Someone brought blankets ebcause it was cold out. Another made hot chocolate and was giving to the mourners. This is a community that has suffered such a loss, yet we are all coming together to support one another.

On NWTekno there was a check in safe thread, a fund has been setup to help the families and people are gathering both at the house and at a local park to share their grief and celebrate those that were lost.

Of course there is a lot of media attention on this, and after the initial fear that it would be a "blame the rave" spin, most news outlets (with the exception of FOX and local Shock Jocks on the Radio) have made the distinction that this horrific event was not related to the fully legal dance that took place earlier in the night. I personally care less about how this will affect the "scene" right now, I'm a bit more concerned with helping those affected by these shootings.

In the next day we will be posting a link where you can donate money to the families. Until then support those around you and remember those that have been lost. This affects us all.hardsciencehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14216001456567646041noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19308471.post-1142922254219844642006-03-20T22:24:00.000-08:002006-03-20T22:27:06.630-08:00Robbie Long

IMG_0001
Originally uploaded by iank_177.
So we had a great time hanging out with Robbie this weekend, although my Liver and Brain Cells will take a while to recover! It was a good chance to try some new things. Ryan threw down a solid set of banging Hard Dance. While he was playing Wheelz and I were chatting in the back about how we've been seeing Ryan spin since the old days. Good to see him starting to play out more, hopefully the very positive reaction to his CD will help him there.

I ran through the basic set I'll be doing in LA tomorrow, and it went very smooth. I LOVE my new controller! After a wonderful trip to Alaska, we've taken a little time off to cath our breath. Now we are rested and ready for the Feb March madness that is fast approaching.

Coming up first is the Podcast Hotel on Feb 24-25. This is a 2 day conference on the technology and techniques behind a successful podcast, and how independant artists can utilize pod/videocasting as a way to self-promote. Hardscience was asked to be involved in hosting an "electronic" lounge for Fri night. We have two Hardscience family members performing, Ryan Alexander and +Russ, and headlining is Seattle's wonderful Jacob London. The music will go from 9pm-1am, costs $10 or is free with a Podcast Hotel badge. Venue info can be found on the Podcast Hotel site. Bring your camera/recorder/camcorder because there will be facilities on site to get your content online and to the people.

The next weekend March 4th Ian K heads back down to Los Angeles to play for the Addicted 2 Year Anniversary party. If you are in the LA region and are plannign on going to this, hit me up on our forums. I love traveling for gigs and LA is a fun city to play in.

A couple weeks after that is Gettin Lucky, March 17th. UK Hardcore master Robbie Long is headlining, with Hardscience's MC Verbal supporting on the Mic. This event is being brought to the people by Pussycat Productions, who along with Funshine and Check 6 Productions are one of the few production companies that actively support Hardcore.hardsciencehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14216001456567646041noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19308471.post-1138649638829403362006-01-30T11:33:00.000-08:002006-01-30T11:35:12.733-08:00While we had some downtime in Anchorage I took the time to interview one of Seattle's Happy Hardcore Pioneers, Jimini Crickit.

hardsciencehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14216001456567646041noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19308471.post-1137887453161354982006-01-21T15:47:00.000-08:002006-01-21T15:52:52.440-08:00Excellent event last night.Well, AC had to take off a bit earlier that we expected, and I never got around to interviewing him. Overall Winter Massif was a great event, and I was happy to be able to perform with both AC Slater and DJ Silver. Much of the Hardscience crew came out to support the hardcore, including Dave Science, Dummy, and Bobby Ritalin. Many photos were taken so expect those to be published in the next few days. Next week is Alaska, where I will definately be making a few audio posts.hardsciencehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14216001456567646041noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19308471.post-1137739705559714142006-01-19T22:37:00.000-08:002006-01-19T22:48:25.566-08:00Winter Massif on the 20th and Bringin the Boom the 27th.Hello dance fans, Ian K here with a bit of an update. This week we are pleased to be visited by none other than AC Slater from NY and DJ Silver from Japan. They will be performing along with many seattle locals at Winter Massif this Fri the 20th. Should be a good night and I am excited to be MC'ing for AC. If you are in the area and want to check it out more info can be found here: Winter Massif,

Then next week I travel to the cold and frozen north, making my first visit to Alaska! DJ Samurai was kind enough to book myself and Jimini Crickit to come play up there, I'll be on double duty, MC'ing for Jimini's set of Old Skool Happy Hardcore then a Live PA of upfront Hardscience Tracks. You can check out the flyer in our FORUM

We should be adding a few new interviews as well in the coming weeks, and lots of photos of the crew in action! Until then, keep it bangin!hardsciencehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14216001456567646041noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19308471.post-1136533748317734972006-01-05T23:39:00.000-08:002006-01-06T12:50:47.143-08:00New Year, new siteHello folks, and welcome to the new Hardscience.net After some hard work behind the scenes and a bit more to tidy up the looks of things, we're ready to go.

To kick things off we are releasing a new track, "Our Time" on trackitdown.net. This one is a bit rougher and tougher, so check it out!

The first major change you might notice is that we are running the whole main site as a blog. This does a few things for us. First, quick and easy updating by staff from any computer, anywhere. That alone makes it worthwhile. Second, we will be offering an RSS feed this month that syndicates our site, delivering our content to you, however you want.

We are also trying out a few new technologies, such as podcasting and videocasting. With some help from blog-guru Brent and our great friends at audioblog.com, we are now able to post audio and video for you to download. A great bit of technology that I am in love with is our ability to podcast right from our cell phones, check out the interviews below to hear it in action.

Hopefully in the next month we will begin giving you a new mix from various dj's that we feel are working hard to improve the dance scene. As our personal influences lean towards the harder side of dance, you can expect a lot of great Hardcore, Hard Dance, Freeform and NRG. However, we know that one flavor gets tired after a while, so we are expecting to mix it up a bit from time to time.

In closing, thank you for visiting hardscience.net and supporting a label that is trying to get off the ground.
