Received into God’s family by Baptism today is Giovanni Dale Travaglio the son of Gaetano and Sarah (Penn) Travaglio. Sponsors are Cary & Shannon Fletcher. May God grant his everlasting blessings to this child.

The altar flowers today are a thank offering. The Felger family gives thanks to God for all his blessings in the past year.

The Flowers in the narthex are given today by Dale and Rhonda Penn, who are celebrating their 35th Wedding Anniversary; and to thank God for welcoming their grandson, Giovanni Dale Travaglio, into his kingdom through baptism. They are also thankful for their loving fathers, A.H. Penn and Ron Selvey.

Registration forms and volunteer forms for VBS are on the table in the back of church. VBS this year is July 6-10, from 9-11:30 a.m. If you have any questions please contact Trina Lieb at 634-0027.

A VBS training meeting will be held next Sunday, June 28, following the late service for ALL VBS volunteers. The meeting will take place in the multi-purpose room in the new wing. Lunch will be provided for volunteers and their families.

On the VBS display in the back of church are ideas for donations that can be made to VBS this year. Please take as you see fit. Our Mission project this year will be to provide school supplies for children in the Jefferson City area. We would like this to be a mission that the entire church can contribute towards not just the children attending during the week. The Samaritan Center is in need of ALL school supplies especially back packs. Designated boxes will be placed in the narthex from July 5–12. Join us as we live eternally and act locally. We desperately need someone to help make braille books. About three hours, one day a month. No experience necessary. For more information call Eileen Smith at 636-3849.

Junior Youth will serve dinner for the workcampers tomorrow evening. Breakout Bible Study will follow. Please meet in the fellowship hall at 4:30 p.m., to set up. Bring your assigned dish. Don’t know what to bring? Call Sharon 634-8943.

5th thru 8th Grade Sunday School classes will be at Heisinger Bluffs this morning during the Sunday School hour to assist residents with worship. Transportation is provided — we will meet in our classrooms.

Stephen Ministry will meet Tuesday, June 23, 6:45 p.m., at Kay Niemeier’s home.

Mizpah Bible Study will be at the Steinmeyer’s home this evening at 7 p.m.

Don’t forget to prayerfully consider individuals and families God might lead you to invite to Friendship Sunday, July 12. Love Offering — Faith Retirees is sponsoring a young family in need of food and diapers (18 month size). This family is new to the area, the dad just found an hourly wage job. They need canned vegetables, fruit, mac n’ cheese, peanut butter, jelly, tuna, Ramen noodles, etc. Please place donations in the box in the narthex marked “Love Offering.”

Workcamp 2009 — Eight high school youth and four adults are serving this week, June 21-27, at the first Faith Lutheran “workcamp.” Our plans are to spend the week working locally at Habitat sites. The workcampers are Jacob Barklage, Rachel Barklage, Trent Lowry, Kayla Maassen, Caroline Boeger, Rebecca Ittner, Charlie Oberkrom, Mackenzie Walker, Doug Goldammer, Gordon Persinger, Larry Meisel, and Margaret Meisel. We are “lodging” at church for the week and doing a variety of evening events. Workcampers will be commissioned at Faith Rocks service tonight.

You’re Invited!— We hope that you will join us at our evening events during our workcamp week. These will be at 6:30 p.m., on Monday, Thursday, and Friday. You are welcome to come to one, two, or all of them! Each one will be different. And if you would like to be directly involved with the camp, by providing snacks, deliver lunch, or maybe you have an idea of a different way that you would like to serve. You can contact Mags at 893-3898. And most importantly, we ask that you keep us in your prayers as we make the final preparations for our work week, and during the workcamp.

A breakfast honoring our 2009 High School Graduates is planned for next Sunday, June 28th, in the youth room from 9:15-10:15, during the Sunday School hour. We hope all of our graduates can come, and of course, all high school youth are invited to join in the celebration.

People who knit and/or crochet and looking for a way to use your skills in service to others: St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, MO, needs people who knit and/or crochet to make prayer shawls for cancer patients. Spring Voters’ Meeting will be held this evening at 6:30 p.m., downstairs in the fellowship hall, immediately following the Faith Rocks service. All members are encouraged to attend.

The new Information Table has been placed in the narthex just inside the front door. The guest book and informational handouts will be located at this table. Softball Practice: The Faith Lutheran men’s softball team will practice at the church ball field at 1 p.m., Sunday, April 26, and at 1 p.m., Sunday, May 3. All are welcome.

Workcamp is happening this summer in a little different way. Because budgets are tighter we are planning our own Workcamp for Faith Lutheran high school youth right here in Jefferson City. We will be working at Habitat sites and staying here, at Fath Lutheran for the week. Senior Youth should have received a mailing with an application this week. If for some reason yours did not get to you, call Mags for a do-over. Please turn in your applications by next Sunday, April 26. The date for the camp is June 21-27. And there will be ways that members of our congregation can be involved throughout the week. Be watching for more details.

Rummage Sale — The annual rummage sale sponsored by the Senior Youth is happening April 30-May 2. If you have items that you would like to donate, they would certainly be appreciated. You can bring them now and leave them in the gym. This is a win, win situation for us and for the community. The members of our congregation clean house and provide nice items that are sold at bargain prices, and purchased by people who can use them, and the youth receive money to cover the cost of workcamp. Thank you in advance for your donations and if you have questions, feel free to call Margaret Meisel at 893-3898. We are hoping to receive all items by Tuesday night, April 28 so we can get everything arranged, priced, and be ready for business on Thursday morning.

Make plans to attend the May meeting of the OWLS on May 20^th, 11:30 a.m., at the Laclede Groves Campus of Lutheran Senior Services in St. Louis for their Awards Luncheon.

Men’s Retreat, Facing Your Giants, at Heit’s Point Lutheran Camp, April 24-26. Rod Lindemann from Timothy Lutheran Church in Blue Springs, MO will be the facilitator for the weekend. For more information check out the brochure on the bulletin board in the narthex.

Trinity Men’s Club Spring BBQ will be held on Sunday, April 26^th in Trinity Lutheran School’s old gym from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. BBQ pork, chicken, baked beans, slaw, cake, ice tea, water, and coffee will be served. Carry-outs are available. Cost of tickets: adults $8, and children $4. Bring your family and friends for a delicious meal. The proceeds will help support the Lutheran Hour Ministries and various church projects.

The spring meeting for Faith Lutheran Laymen’s League is scheduled for next Sunday, April 26, at 6 p.m., at the first floor activity room, at Heisinger Bluffs. Jefferson City Zone LLL Spring Rally will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church (Stringtown) Lohman, MO, on Sunday, May 3. Registration is at 4:30 p.m., with the meeting starting at 5 p.m., and supper will begin at 6 p.m. Mark Nolte, Director of Operations of Heit’s Point Lutheran Ministries will be the guest speaker.

All high school seniors and college students planning on a career in church work.

The Missouri District, Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, has study grants available for full-time church worker students for the 2009-2010 school year. Applicants must be a member of a congregation in the Missouri District for twelve (12) months prior to filing an application.

The Study Grant program is unique, as recipients are chosen according to financial need and commitment to Christian service. Academic excellence is not one of the criteria to qualify for a grant.

Applications are available at the synodical seminaries and colleges, online at www.missourilwml.org under “forms,” from Missouri LWML zone presidents, from pastors, or from Study Grant chairman, Linda Verman, 20816 East 13^th Terrace South, Independence, MO 64057-2702. Completed applications must be postmarked no later than April 30, 2009, to be considered for the 2009-2010 school year.

Trinity Lutheran School Alumni Association will hold their annual meeting Saturday, May 2, at the Double Tree Hotel, 422 Monroe Street, (site of old Trinity School). Registration begins at 3:00 p.m., business meeting at 3:30 with awards and speakers, hospitality time at 4:30, and dinner at 5:00 p.m. Registration deadline is April 24. Banquet tickets are $25.00. All alumni and those interested in the school are encouraged to attend. Grace Lutheran Church is sponsoring a Rummage and Bake Sale Friday, May 1^st from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday, May 2^nd, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. They will be serving sandwiches and homemade pastries.

The Jefferson City Cantorum’s spring concert is Saturday, May 9, at 7 p.m., at the Miller Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for youth (18 and under), $8 for senior citizens, and $25 for families (3 to 5 people). The program, “America, Mom and Apple Pie,” will include patriotic and traditional American songs.

Wolfner Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped is seeking volunteers to work in a recording program. The recording booth is located in the library at 600 West Main Street. People are needed to read books, monitor readers by working computer equipment, and also to review and edit recorded books. The time commitment would be approximately 3 hours per week, during normal working hours (8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday-Friday). Interested persons should contact Deborah Stroup at 522-2766.

Delegate Assembly Meeting: Calvary Lutheran High School’s Delegate Assembly meeting will be held this Monday evening, April 13, at 7 p.m. Items to be addressed are the 2009-10 budget, and the direction we are going based on the Information/Feasibility Study data.

Cookin’ for Calvary! Don’t miss this new event coinciding with Calvary Lutheran High School’s Annual Mother’s Day Plant Sale. Cookin’ for Calvary and the Plant Sale will be held Saturday, May 9, on Trinity Lutheran School’s parking lot. Competitive teams, including Uncle Bub’s, will be fixin’ their smoked specialities, which will include ribs, chicken, brisket, and pulled pork. You may pre-purchase the above meats, or purchase pulled pork or brisket sandwiches that day. The deadline for pre-purchased orders is April 30^th. Proceeds from Cookin’ for Calvary will be donated to Calvary Lutheran High School. The Plant Sale benefits Calvary Lutheran High School Booster Association. The Human Care Board request: Kids’ clothes or an Easter basket. The Easter baskets must be in by April 1st. Kids’ clothes must be in before April 12.

Men’s Softball — Faith Lutheran will be fielding a church league softball team this summer. Games are on Monday nights, starting May 11. The season runs for 10 games. Anyone age 16 and older can play. If you’re interested, contact David Lieb at 634-0027.

Easter Lilies — If you would like to donate an Easter lily, please contact Nancy Doering at 635-0958. Lilies in pots wrapped in gold foil are $8.00 this year. Thank you.

Announcing — We have a new floral designer for our altar flowers — Bob Fennewald, the Floral Manager at HyVee, who did the beautiful arrangement on February 22. A standard floral arrangement will be $30 plus delivery. We have many dates available after the Easter season. Please contact Nancy Doering if you would like to donate altar flowers.

Scholarships — Those persons who are interested in receiving a Church Workers’ Scholarship should contact the church office at 636-4602, or by e-mail: office [at] faithinjeffcity [dot] org To be eligible, a member of our congregation needs to be enrolled in a Synodical school preparing for a church related vocation.

Immanuel Lutheran Honey Creek is having its annual “All You Can Eat Barbeque” today,10:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., in the school gymnasium. They will also have their country store and a silent auction.

Chaplain Jim Mueller has services at the Heisinger Chapel on Sunday mornings at 10 a.m. He needs our help. We would like the first Sunday of each month to be sponsored by Faith Lutheran. Your service anytime is always welcomed and highly valued. We are asking that you please sign up to assist the residents to and from the chapel. Life Line Classes — The Jefferson City Area YMCA offers Life Line classes here at Faith for adults ages 50 and older. Please join us for this bi-weekly (Monday & Wednesday) class of fitness and fellowship, at 9:00 a.m. every week. We will work on cardiovascular health, strength, flexibility, balance, posture, and basic mobility skills. Our mentors know how to modify and offer exercise tips for those who have special health issues. We offer quarterly fit tests and will be hosting a social on March 27th, at the Knowles Annex. Topic is optimum nutrition for bone and joint health! Call Erica Hurt, Group Exercise Supervisor at 761-3459, if you have any questions. The class cost per month is $10.00 for church members.

Ladies: The Zone LWML Spring Rally will be held April 18th, at Hope Chapel, Osage Beach. Registration is from 9-10 a.m. Rally begins at 10 a.m. The program for the afternoon is a l ½ hour cruise on the ship Celebration around the Lake of the Ozarks. Heisinger Bluffs is having a Bake Sale & Egg Hunt on April 4th. The Bake Sale will be from12:00 to 3:00 p.m., and the Egg Hunt will start at 1:30 for ages 3-7.

Need contributions for the bake sale. Items needed are pies (fruit), coffee cake, breads, and perhaps sugar cookies decorated in Easter colors. Items will be accepted on Friday, April 3rd and Saturday morning, April 4, by 9:00 a.m.

Tickets are $50 per person and may be purchased at Calvary or from your Calvary Board of Director’s member (Jim Weber). It is still not too late to submit items for the silent and live auctions. If you have an item to donate, please contact Stephanie Horn, 496-9934, or the school office, 681-5491. Your assistance in making this year’s Spring Fling a success is greatly appreciated. Jim Weber said that if Faith members only purchase tickets from him they can get the tickets for $40 each.

The Missouri District, Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, has study grants available for full-time church worker students for the 2009-2010 school year. Applicants must be a member of a congregation in the Missouri District for twelve (12) months prior to filing an application.

The Study Grant program is unique, as recipients are chosen according to financial need and commitment to Christian service. Academic excellence is not one of the criteria to qualify for a grant.

Applications are available at the synodical seminaries and colleges, online at www.missourilwml.org under “forms,” from Missouri LWML zone presidents, from pastors, or from Study Grant chairman, Linda Verman, 20816 East 13th Terrace South, Independence, MO 64057-2702. Workcamp Meeting today for all youth, parents, and other adults interested in serving at workcamp this summer. We will meet in the multi-purpose room next to the youth room.

Senior Youth are getting together today at 3:30 to fly kites. If you want you can bring your own or we will have kites available. And of course, there will be food and a devotion. In case of bad weather, inside events will be planned.

The Human Care Board request: Kids' clothes or an Easter basket. The Easter baskets must be in by April 1^st. Kids' clothes must be in before April 12.

"Top O' the morning to you!" Faith Retirees invites you to enjoy some games, cards, snacks, and Christian fellowship, this Thursday, March 19, at 1 p.m., in the fellowship hall. Everyone is invited and that's no "Blarney!"

Church Council Meeting will be held this Wednesday night, March 18^th, at 8 p.m., or immediately following the Lenten Service, whichever is later, downstairs in the fellowship hall. All members of Faith are invited to attend.

We need volunteers like you to make this year's VBS (July 6-10) a success. We are looking for people to head up the main stations. If you are able to head up drama (Bible Story), music, snacks, games, crafts, or preschool, please contact Trina Lieb at 634-0027. We will begin searching for more volunteers in April.

Men's Softball — Faith Lutheran will be fielding a church league softball team this summer. Games are on Monday nights, starting May 11. The season runs for 10 games. Anyone age 16 and older can play. If you're interested, contact David Lieb at 634-0027.

Immanuel Lutheran Honey Creek is having its annual "All You Can Eat Barbeque" scheduled for next Sunday, March 22^nd, 10:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., in the school gymnasium. They will also have their country store and a silent auction.

Chaplain Jim Mueller has services at the Heisinger Chapel on Sunday mornings at 10 a.m. He needs our help. We would like the first Sunday of each month to be sponsored by Faith Lutheran. Life Line Classes — The Jefferson City Area YMCA offers Life Line classes here at Faith for adults ages 50 and older. Please join us for this bi-weekly (Monday & Wednesday) class of fitness and fellowship, at 9:00 a.m. every week. We will work on cardiovascular health, strength, flexibility, balance, posture, and basic mobility skills. Our mentors know how to modify and offer exercise tips for those who have special health issues. We offer quarterly fit tests and will be hosting a social on March 27th, at the Knowles Annex. Topic is optimum nutrition for bone and joint health! Call Erica Hurt, Group Exercise Supervisor at 761-3459, if you have any questions. The class cost per month is $10.00 for church members.

The Trinity Girls Varsity Tournament Team is raising funds for a trip to the national basketball tournament at Valparaiso University in March. Faith’s own Shelby Bailey, Madison Hart, and Laura Hartman will be in the fellowship hall before and after Sunday School today to sell tickets for all-you-can-eat hotcakes, one piece of sausage, and a small fountain drink or coffee at the Jefferson Street McDonalds from 4-7 p.m., February 17. Team members will be serving at McDonalds during this event. Tickets are $5 each. Milk and juice will be available for an additional charge.
