Here's a technology that will work on any passive EL display that will refresh all the pixels at the same time (no line-by-line delays):<BR/><BR/>http://www.signaldisplay.com/HDTV_improvemx.html<BR/><BR/>This is fast refresh rate for passive ELs - for a 1920 x 1080 display requires only 4 MHz maximum frequency to update all pixels at the same time (still EL supply voltage - just a sinewave driving a transistor with collector at 200V). Contrast ratio and brightness are higher and processor speeds for HDTV are lower. This has been tested - EL pixels have a fundamental modulator component that has not been exploited until just recently.
