I have urgent tidings of the upcoming Neocon event . Documentation of myself and various other superheroes of the ergonomic world will be on display at the Sitmatic booth June 15th- 17th. Commissioned by the great and powerful Paul, a team of master artists have replicated the adventures of many greats such as Poshzilla, the Incredible Boss, and the everyday heroes of the Sitmatic team. The road to ergonomic perfection is a perilous and daunting journey. Take a look at the work of Frank Trevino, from the Sitmatic product development team.

Frank's challenge was the development of a retractable cup holder for our Erasmus Fixed Seating platform, that would be compact, functional and complimentary to the overall design of the product. (Let's face it, these days no one wanders too far without the obligatory bottle of water or steaming hot cup of Joe.) The installation is a high profile multi-use auditorium at Benefis Healthcare in Great Falls, Montana.

With pen, paper and protractor in hand Frank plodded ahead undaunted by those (actually, it was only me...) who questioned whether it could be done! In keeping with the automatic folding design of Erasmus, Frank envisioned a retractable version that wouldn't toss your beverage on the floor when exiting the seat. Draw, build, test...draw, build, test...you get the idea!

Voila! Success! Behold, the fruits of Frank's labor. The result is a blend of sound engineering and design, along with sensible function and simplicity.

Garrynoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1910334428275244953.post-87019127797376213262009-01-28T16:14:00.000-08:002009-02-04T11:47:37.902-08:00We had to do it!Some of our larger customers haven't bought a trash bag or yard bag in years! We found that if we covered our chairs in super heavy duty clear plastic bags, they would arrive with nary a blemish, never chafing against the cartons. These bags of course served an excellent second purpose around the house. Well we discovered that not only our customers could enjoy these bags but also their great grandchildren. With an eye to depriving future generations, we now have a bag made substantially of corn. It degrades in sunlight and under continued mechanical stress. It should disappear in about two to three years. This was a bit of a technological breakthrough as we did have to work with our packaging guy to keep lightening the green tint. (Our shipping department couldn't see the fabric through the bag). We apologize to our customers that they will now have to buy trash bags and, no, it is not true that we are taking kick-backs from Glad.

Paul Makielskihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14646675212882301998noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1910334428275244953.post-48549230144399610412008-12-05T14:00:00.000-08:002009-01-26T10:37:03.273-08:00Long Live Posh Operational!A change in marketing strategy, confirmed by end user input has prompted a slightly different direction for the operative series chair previewed at NeoCon 2007. We listen, we acknowledge, we restate… and then, after much chatter, we begin the grueling process of accounting for every nut and bolt required to execute the hypothetical job, otherwise known as quoting.

We draw, we cry, we redraw. An auditorium quote is not complete without a drawing- a common vision for anyone to pontificate the placement of handicapped seating, aisle ways, and chair sizes. This drawing illustrates the seat numbering and row lettering schematic for the new auditorium to be.

This is where the magic begins. Sitmatic orders all of the necessary ingredients for this delectable project. We stitch, we sew, we upholster. Foam gets covered, wood gets lacquered, and laminates are applied with delicate care. Smells like someone’s cooking up Tuxedo chairs to order. We box, we ship, we pray. All this exciting coordination comes to a head for the big show: Installation. Our expert crew executes the well-anticipated plans, and to what end? Introducing Ft.
