I on...I have very little faith in medical science. I once had a lesion on my neck that kept changing size and shape over a period of several months, but when I went in to get it checked out the doctor looked at me like I was crazy for taking up his time, before he even ran tests or examined it closely. It turned out it wasn't skin cancer, but how was I supposed to know before hand? I thought the practice of medicine included diagnosis as well as treatment, but apparently I was wrong.

The only impression I've gotten from any doctor or nurse (and I've seen quite a few for various reasons, across the United States), is a "suck it up" attitude. I get the impression that unless I walk into their practice with a steel rod through my heart they are going to consider me simply to be wasting their precious time. So I grant their silent demand and now refuse to see any doctors unless I believe that I'm going to die if I don't.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19038911.post-1161295727971102672006-10-19T18:08:00.000-04:002006-10-19T18:08:00.000-04:00I Irish dance and my doctor seems to be stuck on t...I Irish dance and my doctor seems to be stuck on the fact that my injuries are not showing up on MRI or X-ray. He originally was thinking it was a tibial fracture (stress fracture in my shin). I am frustrated that he is stuck on the fact that it didn't show on an MRI or X-ray. I need to heal up so I can get back to competing! I am glad to know that there is hope in second opinions!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19038911.post-1161053104531552122006-10-16T22:45:00.000-04:002006-10-16T22:45:00.000-04:00I can't help but wonder if the friend who died of ...I can't help but wonder if the friend who died of cancer might have had a better chance of survival by going directly to an alternative choice when he still had an immune system...It seems to me that when we need our immune system the most, it is distroyed with conventional chemotherapy and radiation...surely there has got to be a better way! And many people feel they have found one or another of them. As for myself, I have no confidence in chemotherapy, radiation therapy and probably not even surgery. Those all impare the immune system, and I want to have as much strength to fight as I can!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19038911.post-1160918864640543552006-10-15T09:27:00.000-04:002006-10-15T09:27:00.000-04:00When my (original)primary care physician did not r...When my (original)primary care physician did not really investigate to find out what was wrong with me, I first went to a specialist on my own...this specialist did one test and said he did not find anything wrong with me so I went and found another doctor...this doctor found out what was wrong and more...now I have a doctor who not only listens to me but he helps me to the best of his abilities with my medical issues!!

What we patients sometimes do forget is that the doctors know things medicine in a general sense and not what is specific to us, the patient. We know our bodies and it is important as patients that we know as much about our own bodies and our own particular symptoms as possible...this way, if we don't understand or agree with what is being told to us, we can look things up, and seek help somewhere else!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19038911.post-1160880315539061122006-10-14T22:45:00.000-04:002006-10-14T22:45:00.000-04:00Very good!
