Women's Expo Was a Hit!

The Balance Expo for women turned out to be a great success last Saturday. The day began with women of all ages milling around the Expo for the day. With prize giveaways, excellent information from the Longmont, Colorado community sponsors and the eye-brow raising fashion show, the Balance Expo will not go unforgotten.

The six ladies from RE/MAX Traditions: Debbie Betsinger, Judy Coffey, Carol Cizek, Nancy McBride, Pam Wettstein and Catherine Wood came early to set up the unmistakeable pink booth. The pink, white and black balloons soared above the RE/MAX Traditions booth as ladies came by to sign up for the great prize giveaways.

Flag Raising Ceremony Recap

This week, the Longmont real estate agents and staff of Re/Max Traditions have worked through a plethora of moving details from furniture to file cabinets, internet access to sticky notes. As the fine tuning continues, we are able to take a moment here and there to just enjoy the surroundings and revel in the joy of accomplishment.

Wednesday ear-marked an important event for Re/Max Traditions. The Veterans of Longmont's American Legion Post 32 brought honor and glory to the flag raising ceremony Wednesday morning. The Veterans stood in formation in the training room and announced the exodus to the flag pole out front.

Despite the roaring wind, over 50 staff, agents, friends and family stood glassy-eyed as the single trumpet belted an aria as the flag was raised. Complete silence endured as the flag continued to it's final location, what seemed miles above Longmont. The flag danced in a proud moment, boasting it's bold red white and blue for all to see. The Veterans led us in the Pledge of Allegiance, which roared with voices united in the pride of our United States.

Our Veterans saluted with sharp and solid posture for a "Kodak moment" which allowed the wind-blown audience to trail inside the new building in celebration and refuge. The camaraderie amongst the crowd was breathtaking, though work calls and it was time to return to what we do best.

We wish to thank our Veterans of American Legion Post 32 out of Longmont, Colorado for performing the flag raising ceremony. Additionally, we would like to thank our friends and peers who took the time to drive out and with us, enjoy this celebration. We thank the Times Call for sharing their staff and coming to our event. This community is very important to us and we appreciate all of you being a part our joyous occasion. Thank you!

And the Rockets Red Glare…

It is official! We have moved into our new home at 2204 18th Avenue (just east of Hover) and everyone is so thrilled!! A little sore… okay a lot sore, a little tired …okay a lot tired…but raring to get on with the business of moving families. Although with our own moving experiences fresh in our minds we have a new perspective…again. We have been in the business a long time so reminders are great. In our 16 years of experience average per agent we have moved lots and lots of families and many times ourselves. But, moving is tough no matter how well it is planned, how much it is desired and how beautiful the new surroundings are.

Flag Dedication Ceremony
Our first function in our new home at 2204 18th Avenue will be a Flag Dedication Ceremony on Wednesday, March 1, 2006 at 9:30 a.m. It is all very exciting!! The RE/MAX balloon is going to make an appearance weather permitting. It is always so amazing to see the majesty of the RE/MAX balloon in person. The American Legion is conducting the ceremony and we feel fortunate that they took time out of their busy schedules during the work day. We are really trying to follow proper protocol and do things right. It is our nature.

We have invited local dignitaries, friends, the local paper and “Builder Bob.” We thought he would get a kick out of seeing the finished building and all of the fanfare of the Flag Dedication Ceremony. It has been fabulous to see child like wonder & joy on his face throughout this whole building process. We are betting he has a future in the building trades!! We greatly appreciate his family allowing us to share in his enthusiasm!

Guess what? We are taking bets to see who is the person who pulls into the parking lot for work at the old building on Monday morning but as you know old habit die hard, so there might be a few, we will keep you posted.

Moving on Up!

A day of change, reordering, reorganization is upon us. Saturday, February 25, 2006 is the day 40 Longmont real estate agents, assistants, staff and one harried Broker/Owner move to our new building at 2204 18th Avenue (just East of Hover). The long awaited move to the new 17,150 sq. ft. state of the art building has been planned with the attention to detail that one would expect from folks who plan and execute moves for families everyday at a high level of real estate productivity. Even if change is great it is tumultuous…packing over 20 years of business, memories, equipment, furniture and excess stuff is challenging. (Yes, surely there is some excess stuff)! The agents will have new “neighbors” and surroundings, personal climate control, new equipment actually totally a new beautiful environment.

The technology age adds many areas to consider when planning a move of this complexity. Who’s phone goes where, how does the network go in, who has a fax line---Who’s on first? Oh! We digress!! It will be an advantage to have a building owner that is also a builder who can fix anything and has a team of construction professionals at the ready!! The excitement is almost visible in the building as everyone scurries about preparing for the move.

The finishing touches are being applied and the inevitable snafus are occurring beyond anyone’s control. The blizzard in the East even became a factor at one point. It is so fortunate that Carol Cizek has the patience of a saint and nerves of steel!

MOVE-IN TIME APPROACHES! RE/MAX Traditions real estate agents went out to tour new real estate listings this week, and the first stop was at their soon-to-be new home at 2204 18th Avenue in Longmont. Anxious to see the latest improvements, they were waiting at the front door. Trying to stay out of the way of workers, they went up and down every hall, admiring the beautiful wood trim, checking out where their co-workers' offices were, and of course, checking out the view from their own office windows.

Work on the new commercial office building is progressing at a rapid pace. Ceramic tile is in the finishing stages, granite countertops have been installed, interior glass has been installed upstairs, and carpet installation should start next week. Then comes the task of organizing moving an entire real estate company (which has been in one location for 20 years!) The thought brings images of cleaning out the basement or garage to put one's house on the market! But, with everyone anxious to get to the new location, it will be a co-operative joint effort and will be done before we know it. The hope right now is for the relocation to happen on the last week-end of February. Stay tuned to see if we hit our target!

Tour of RE/MAX Traditions

This week, I had the pleasure of touring the new RE/MAX Traditions building. I would love to share my experience with you as this place is an exciting breath of fresh air.

Arrival
To begin this journey, I must say that I was mostly shocked to find landscaping already in place for a building that is still under construction. It appears as though the building progress has a contagious effect upon its surroundings. I believe that come spring time, this will be a sight to behold.

First Thoughts
The tradition of commercial buildings has always seemed to replace "friendly and warm" with "professional". To my dismay, every prejudice I held against a commercial building was shattered upon entering this very building.

Immediately, I felt warm and welcomed. The foyer presents a reception counter shaped in an undulating arc, with the ceiling echoing the shape. It feels as though the building is reaching towards you as a welcoming friend. I have seen many a drop-ceiling tile, but this combination with drywall and floating ceiling, and contrast between white and beige are truly pleasing and different. Who would have ever thought that a commerical business building might actually be fun to visit?

Around the corner, we met with a few of the workers who seemed to be enjoying their jobs of hanging door trim. Every single person in that building was friendly and greeted you with a smile. As we progressed on to the work already completed, the halls seemed more like halls within a home, not a commericial building.

Once again to my dismay, I was amazed that while touring a construction site in four inch heels, I had not a speck of dust on me. I never stepped over anything hazardous. I never once felt as though this was a dangerous place to be. To add to my awe, I viewed the tool storage room. Yes, a room - one place where everything was neatly put away! Not scattered through the halls, not left the last place it was used - put away. Cords wrapped up neatly, tools in their cases, dirt swept up, no scraps of anything laying anywhere. I was as awestruck as a mother walking into her child's room to find toys neatly put away, with books arranged on shelves, alphabetically. It was simply not what you would expect.

Upstairs
Upstairs, the warm wood tones came to life with a rich cherry color against a very comfortable beige. Natural light poured in from all directions, making this space feel as inviting as a white sandy beach.

As we returned to the front of the building, we came upon a space with a rounded balcony. This simple area was so inviting, I could have sat down and spent my afternoon reading a book in the sunlight. This building absolutely did not feel like a commercial building anymore; it felt like home.

I would like to thank RE/MAX Traditions for my afternoon tour as well as a thank you to all the workers and contractors that have made me believe that not all commercial buildings are alike. This was truly a pleasure to experience, and I hope to come back when the building is complete!

The Building Progresses!

Promise of a completed building to move into is becoming reality. Walls have been painted, ceiling lights are appearing, doors upstairs have been installed, and the trim carpenters are busy applying their skills to create beautiful wood trim. The new office will feel like home. The parking lot has been paved, and, thanks to a few mild weeks, landscaping is actually going in! It's why we love Colorado! And yes, the roof will soon be complete too. Ceramic tile will go in next, and the first floor trim will be starting with the new year. If you still aren't sure where the new building is located, it will be easier to spot because a 35' flag pole proudly flying our American flag was installed today. The hope is still for a late February completion.

The other huge news is that January 1st is the magic day for our name transition. RE/MAX of Longmont, Inc. will officially become RE/MAX Traditions, Inc. The name was changed because of the ever-expanding marketplace due to technology (just like this blog!) Having served our community for 27 years, we feel we have established a tradition of being competent professionals who serve our clientele and community well. Until the big Moving Day to our new office, you can still get the same great service from our experienced agents at 2350 17th Avenue, Longmont, CO 80503. An introduction to RE/MAX Traditions

RE/MAX of Longmont has spent 27 years serving the Real Estate industry and with this milestone, great changes have appeared over the horizon. With 27 years of traditionally outstanding results, the name change to "RE/MAX Traditions" came to pass. Additionally, construction of our new building has begun. Yes, RE/MAX of Longmont, now RE/MAX Traditions has found a new home!

May of 2005 began with breaking ground at our new location across the street. Currently, the building has the exterior brick and stucco completed. The 2nd level has drywall hung and the 1st level is underway. The final grade on what will be the grassy areas is being worked on, despite the massive amounts of wind that seem to be as common with November as the Thanksgiving turkey. Next will come the long-awaited metal roof and paving of the parking lot.
