They spoke Greek and the ruling class was Greek, but I believe the bulk of them were of Egyptian ethnicity (descended from Ancient Egyptians).<BR/><BR/>I saw several sources that put Copts anywhere from 6% (Egypt gov't) to 20% (Copts themselves). I chose 10% reference as a middle ground.
