But I would not go so far as to say they "cling" to them. Would it be different if Obama said "turn" to guns and religion? I think it would have. You could also say that blacks "cling to religion" -- that would drip of the kind of condenscion Obama was using, perhaps. And I don't think THAT statement is correct (blacks clinging to religion and, oh, let's say, gangsta rap, as well, throw that in there, I don't think blacks "cling to gangsta rap").<BR/><BR/>McCain would also have been *pilloried* over a comment like the one you posted, whereas I think Obama truly has "sinned" here, so to speak, against the people of small-town PA.
