Tony Wertz had a second "reception" for Lizzie's wedding at the Wertz/Horsky cabin in Lincoln. It was fun to see everyone in a little more relaxed and less hectic atmosphere.

It was great to get together with the Wertz clan in celebration of the wedding of Tony Wertz' only daughter, Elizabeth. We had a wonderful time! The wedding was on August 5 at Holy Parish Episcopal Church with the reception to follow at Heritage Hall at Fort Missoula. Dinner was fabulous - Salmon and Prime Rib. We finally made it to Florida after more than a year of fundraising for the Upledger Institute Intensive CranioSacral Therapy which was one week of intense cranio-sacral therapy for Mikaslyn. The week was very successful for her and we are hoping to continue to experience more progress. Rick and Kristine FINALLY got to go skiing together in Big Sky country. We got passes to Big Mountain in Whitefish and got help for the entire day so we could have a day together. The snow was pretty good for late Spring skiing but the weather was spectacular. Just a touch of fog which Big Mountain is notorious for but mainly the weather was fantastic.

Mikaslyn's preschool class put on "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" and her part was one of the plums. They had a special button for her to activate that would say her line for her. The class made their own puppets during class at the beginning of the week for the Thursday puppet show. It was super! Mikaslyn was doing a great job mimicking sounds that I made this morning. It started while I was playing with sounds just to entertain her. I made a gravelly la la sound with my mouth wide open. Obviously this information is late in coming but I wanted to share the cutest picture of Mikaslyn that was provided by her Co-Teach preschool teacher, Mary, at our parent/teacher conference highlighting Mikaslyn during her 2005 Fall Semester. We think this program is the best. There are 3 special needs kids and 11 peers which helps kids grow up without inhibitions to others who are "different"

Today Tamara and Paula ,her adaptive equipment specialist and physical therapist respectively, came by with a new (to us) walker for Mikaslyn. It is much different than the old one and works much better. It is so responsive that if she turns it turns. She can also walk right up to objects and grab them. The walker does not get in her way and it really is a big improvement. Pictures as soon

We had a great time hiking in the Lolo forest. This is near Fish Creek which is near Lolo Pass. We originally when to Fish Creek before Mikaslyn was bron looking huckleberries. Then last weekend we wanted to take a drive so we decided to see what it looked like in the winter. It turns out to be a snowmobile trail which is perfect for Mikaslyn's sled. Linda, one of Mikaslyn's Hab-Aids, took her to the public library for story time. There was another non-verbal child there who walked up to Mikaslyn and started babbling to her. Mikaslyn mimicked one of the sounds the child made. This is a firrt and one of the important developmental steps toward speech.

I am very sad to report that Mandye our older lab passed away this morning. She was 13 and very old. She died of old age and we will miss her for a long time. She was a good, loyal and loving dog. She loved walks, swimming, chasing sticks and attention.
