I've put a link to the information about the Female Factories and also a link about the baby bonnet project. These bonnets were made by Tasmanian women to recognise the pain and grief associated with the birth of babies to convict women. Women who got pregnant (usually why woking as indentured servants to settlers) were sent back to the prison system and given a further 6 month sentence for promisquity. This shot is sunset over the Remand Centre in Melbourne, they don't call it a remand centre they call it the Assesment Prison or something its where people stay while they are awaiting trial if they don't get bail.
