Hi Everyone,

Would anyone like to adopt the church cat? My kitten is about 7 weeks old, eating solids, dewormed and has had his first shots. He's also extremely cute and well behaved. Unfortunately we can't keep him because babies and kittens don't mix too well and the vet strongly encouraged us to find him another home ASAP. I'd rather not drop him at the SPCA if I can avoid it. I've become rather attached, but all the same we need to get rid of him as soon as possible. If anyone is interested please give me a call at 604-726-0619.

But if you would like to get Andy something (and you totally don;t have to), keep ion mind that he'll be in size 6-month clothes in the winter, and size 12-month clothes next spring. He is also in size 2 diapers now (not a fun gift to buy really, but a great gift for us to get!)

Regardless of the ferry situation, Fr. Lawrence is aiming to get back for vespers. Even if he is prevented, however, we are blessed to have Fr. John Bingham prepared to serve. So if you aren't among the crowds at the hockey game on the island (GO GOADS GO!!!!), see you at vespers!

Please be advised that due to mechanical difficulties the Spirit of British Columbia will be out of service from Friday August 22nd through Sunday August 24th 2008.

The following sailings are cancelled as a result.

Exit the ferry, heading south on the Pat Bay Hwy.:> stay on Pat Bay Hwy. until it becomes Blanshard St.

Turn left onto Finlayson Street.

Hello Mainlanders...

Glory to Jesus Christ!

I met a kind woman named Tina at All Saints last Sunday and she is going to your side of the waters next weekend to stay with a friend in Abbotsford and attend Trinity Western for the week. She's taking a Byzantine iconography course there.

Tina has some health problems and no car, and she asked for our help regarding some rides. She can provide gas money to whoever can help her out.

Is anyone willing to give her a ride from the Tsawassen ferries to Abbotsford or close to there this coming weekend? She is flexible about the time and day, she just needs to get there between Friday and Sunday.

For the return trip, is anyone coming over from Abbotsford on Saturday August 23rd for the hockey game? Do you have a spot in your car for Tina?

Andy's baptism

Andrew David Gabriel Lanteigne ("Andy") will be baptized on Sunday, September 21st at 10:00am!

To celebrate, we will be throwing a party/BBQ at our house after Church and everyone is invited! We live aaaaaall the way out in Chilliwack, but we hope you can all make it out for at least some part of the day to have a burger and toast to our newest kid!

Thank you - Two months minus one day

Thank you for your prayers – tomorrow will have be two months since the accident. I am now walking again! No more crutches or air cast. And today was my first real day of my job (when I finally did get to Toronto over a month ago, I was sent back early as they did not know what to do with me, even though I had explained the situation). I still walk with a bit of a limp at times, but am doing really well considering.

I especially remember the first weekend, when I was in a lot of pain (did not know I had two fractures and was not given pain medication), I was so comforted to know that I would be included in the prayers to the Theotokos that Saturday after vespers. Thank you.

This week marks my 4th anniversary of my chrismation and Labour Day will DV be my 5th year since I began my journey at St. Herman’s in earnest. I thank God for all of this and for the support and love that you all at St. Herman’s continue to give to so many.

Please remember to bring strictly Lenten food for the post-liturgy meal on Sunday. (see the purple colour-coded words up there? :-) And do please bring something, the table has been a bit thin this summer and we have out of town visitors showing up, so we want to feed them well!

This coming Wednesday, Aug. 6th is the feast of Transfiguration Remember to fast from noon on to receive communion. FISH is permitted at the festal meal afterward. Also this is the day we bless the summer harvest of grapes and other fruits, so bring your baskets along!

Who left a photo album at church last week? It had a small thick manila envelope along with it, and there were photos of a wedding with Fr. John H. in it.

My elderly and very frail Auntie Janet (who has severe dimensia) fell late Sunday night and broke her hip. Anyone who has elderly family memebers knows that this is a very serious thing.
When we went to visit her on Monday, she was completely non-communitive and on Morphine for pain. My mom and my Aunt Yvonne were in tears.
Her surgery went well on Tuesday and she will be in danger for the next year they said of developing complications.
Please pray for her recovery and for my family through this difficult time.

Funeral date correction

Due to complications from the cemetery people, Mike Andruff's funeral will now be on Monday July 21st at 1 p.m. It is still at Holy Resurrection Church in Vancouver.
