Having a blast working at Nickelodeon Studios. Luckily I got a spot on the Story team for the new Kung Fu Panda TV show. So far the show seems very funny and everybody on the crew is extremely talented and friendly. I hope to post some artwork from a few of the iphone apps that I am currently developing. Have a look at these two commercials. I was lucky to work on with some of my favorite people: Kathleen Quaife, John Armstrong, Jeff Zikry and all the amazing animators and artist over at Buck Studios. I was the 2D Supervisor for the EFX animation on these two spots. We had great direction by Jeramey Sahlman, Ryan Honey, and Joe Mullen. The 3D Maya artist at Buck gave us so much to work with and then after the 2D was finished the After Effects Artists made it all seamless. It was a great two months working in Downtown LA. Commercial Animation is a fast pace team sport and Buck does it well.

OK, it's been so long since I have joined in I will just post a bunch of stuff from this past year 2009. This next bunch is from my time at DreamWorks working on "The Secrets Of The Furious Five" shorts. This was easily one of my favorite jobs yet. First off I got to work with Nico Marlet's !!amazing!! designs. He sets the bar so high and I fall far short of his mastery but we humans need to work too. So here are some pages from my portfolio. Some simplifications of existing designs, some original designs they needed specifically for the shorts and mixed in some simple costume design.

Here are two 2-minute sketches I did the other night. It's been a long while and it felt great!
I've been very busy these past eight months. After finishing work at DreamWorks animating and designing on the "Secrets of the Furious Five" I started over at Starz Film Roman storyboarding on a Marvel TV show ("Super Hero Squad"). I'm also designing characters for one of the Tinkerbell movies over at Disney Toon Studios; I'm having lots of fun on this one. I did some character design work for Nickelodeon for there upcoming Kung Fu Panda TV series. I was super lucky to work with Bob Kurtz on a new Schoolhouse Rock short film "Tiny Urban Zoo", Bob Directed. I designed the characters, BGs, Color, and did half of the boarding, soooo much fun. I also directed a short film for Disney entitled “Legend Of The Chihuahua” for the DVD release of “the Beverly Hills Chihuahua” (I know, I know). We had very little time and very little money but what a great crew, they gave 110%. All work done freelance over the web, lots of phone calls. And last but not least, I've started a business with a few of my very talented friends developing iPhone apps. Applying our animation experience to this wonderful opportunity just drives me crazy with optimism.
Oooooooo, and one last thing and absolutely the most important one, my wife Jeannine gave birth to our little boy Mateo Dante Pignotti. He's just over six months old now. So, three have become four and we are so very grateful!!!

I fixed this drawing in PhotoShop. I had drawn her legs about one head too short. I know that I should always error on the longer side but I was rushing to get the whole figure on the page and just missed it. So, I just selected her legs in PS and stretched them down; I can't tell can you?

Check out this clip or "The Mr. Men Show" over at Cold Hard Flash. I storyboarded this episode "invention". Nice to see it all finished up, in color and animated! Great job Renegade. Can't wait to see more.
