Hi well i am gutted as i was knocked back from sporting scene today for the new goose shooting DVD by my great rival ANDREW RICHARDSON what a joke his reply to my order was he cant supply me the DVD for obvious reason's i wonder what there where.

Well i would like to see this new DVD from sporting scene a whole season with a goose guide in Aberdeenshire i have seen there first one and if there new one is anything to go it was not worth buying anyway.

What a joke sporting scene is pmsl.

Cracking start to the summer pigeon shooting

Today seen us kick of our summer shooting with three clients having a fine days sport at the pigeons in the sunshine and what a day it was.

My three clients had well over 350 shots for around 80+ not all where picked with some landing in the standing crops but we did pick 70+ pigeons not a to bad start to our summer pigeons it looks like we are going to have a great summer i see there starting to hit the laid area's now so all good in my area of fife.

Well off to do some rabbit shooting with them on Friday so hope all goes well.

Back to Work

Well it is time for me to get the pigeon gear out along with my other gear as i have a party of 3 clients arrive at the end of this week for some rabbit bashing and some pigeons if i can find some i have a field for them so that is one day sorted.

I have enjoyed my time off over the past month with the long lies and lazy days around the garden and not worrying to much about shooting.

I had my goose decoys out and painted there over the good sunny days so that is one job out the way.

so to all my blog followers check back soon now we are back on the road to work by the looks of the weather and crops it looks like its going to be a red hot summer with some cracking pigeon shooting along the way.

My diary is looking OK even though the crunch has hit some of my clients it has not kept the true hunter away from the sport he loves.

Onwards and upwards again.

Will be looking forward to the Scottish game fair this coming week although it will only be Sunday i get there.

Great end to our week

Well this morning saw us end the week in style with one of our client's shooting a roe buck medal class and what a head he has on him we think he will make gold but for sure sliver FACT.

It has been a cracking few day's with these two Dane's with shooting decent heads to eating big mac's every night and drinking beer with them at 7am crazy but a great laugh.

One client is over the moon with his medal head but all in all they took five good heads home with them not bad for 8 outings in total they shoot 7 bucks could have been more but they where only wanting to look for a medal head after each getting a good head in there 1st couple of outings.

It was a nice wee bonus we got at then end from our client shooting the medal head so now my job is done time to relax for the next week or so.

Fife robe buck's

Well our client's got a couple more roe last night it has been a great week so far hope the next day or so goes as well as the 1st couple.

Last night saw one client take a nice six pointer again and a young one also that has been two six pointers and a young buck of the same field this week so all is well with that area of ours.

I will be glad to get this week over with so i can catch up with some sleep over the weekend as this stalking is tough going it feels like goose shooting season.

Well our other client was after a medal last night but the big buck would only come to edge of the wood and not show himself for a shot might catch up with him Friday morning.

Well just a quick up date on how this week is going. What can i say its been going great will our two clients getting plenty success at the roe bucks we had more last night and this morning.

One thing is this work is hard going early mornings and late evenings.

Well it was a happy night for one of our clients tonight getting a cull buck no problem our other clients was not so lucky with a miss at a cracking buck.

This is our 1st buck of the 2009 season and many more to come we hope so check back over the coming day's to see what we have been able to get these two Dane's on to.

Fishing

Well we found the pigeon shooting hard going over the past couple of days with all our farms having the drilling's in many weeks ago and not much moving at all around our ground.

I was honest with my clients and told them the score and asked if there was anything else they would like maybe a stalk or lamping session but they asked me if i can sort out some fishing for them no problem.

So it was a quick call to my father who is a keen fisher man and everything was sorted he picked them up and took them of to a local fishing loch where there are many in our area of fife for a 4 hour session of fishing.

The clients where happy after there four hour session where they caught 3 fish but lost many more on the day.

Thank god that was the last of our pigeon shooting until the summer

Well i had a young shot out the other day on pigeons and what a time the young lad had with pigeons coming in quick and fast every couple of min the smile on his face throughout the day said it all he was having a great time and day.

I had him shooting on a spring drilling that was one of the last on my ground to go in and i knew there where many pigeons on it the couple of days before he arrived so i was hoping he was going to have a cracking day and my thoughts where bang on.

He had around 100+ shots for around 25 pigeons not bad going for the young lad as he has not been shooting that long.

Well people after being ill for 2 weeks with a chest infection i have been back for around 3 days now out seeing what i have missed while being in bed.

I had to put some clients back until the summer with being out of action for the past two weeks i am sorry to these clients that they have missed there spring pigeon shooting with us.

Anyway i was out looking around today and see a new drilling with hundreds of pigeons all over it while the farmer was rolling it when you see the farmer rolling the field you know it has just been the past day or so that it was drilled so i went over to stop and ask for permission to shoot these pigeons as it was he was only a worker it was down to the farmer and ask and was a result he said yes get on with it 600 acres in all a great day.

Well i am hoping for a cracking day on this field for two of my clients that are shooting with me on Wednesday and Thursday so fingers crossed this field is huge and plenty of seed around on the field wit the ground being so hard up in this area with there being no rain for over a month.

This is our last two clients for pigeon shooting until summer time we move on to roe buck stalking in two weeks time we have seen many kicking around so all is looking good for us there.

Well i had a wee laugh to myself this morning when i pulled up to meet and greet a client of mine. I had to have a laugh and ask him what was that he has brought along with him for the day.

No one would ever guess what type of dog jumped out from the boot. A German Shepperd cross i could not believe it but good to its word it work and brought back most pigeons apart from late in the day when it started to play about with them.

This dog was no problem and sat in the hide all day without a problem it was good to see that any kind of dog can do the job and not just the usual type we see in the field.

Still ticking over

Well we are still busy with pigeon shooters at the moment. Our clients are still shooting half decent bags of pigeons. We are finding the pigeons are just not decoying well at the moment.

All of our clients have left us happy with the shooting they have had while shooting with us there is no getting away from it we have had our fair share of slack days which you will always have.

All our shooting over the past week has been over new drillings. We are finding there has not been much for the pigeons to go after it seems they are moving in and then moving on to the next field as soon as there drilled.

We have some more clients in for pigeon shooting in the next two weeks then we move over to roe buck stalking.

Pigeon Shooting

Well finally i got billy a half decent day on the pigeon's after 2 hard day's where the pigeons where not decoying or playing ball. I done around 50 mile yesterday while billy was in the field looking for a decent field. The pressure was on with the 2 bad days to boot but i come across plenty pigeons on a field of neaps and it was on for today.

Billy is a cracking shot that is a FACT it was a pleasure just watching him from my jeep. This morning started quite well with billy getting on to some early pigeons the shooting went quite well for the 1st couple of hours then it went dead.

Shooting picked back up after lunch time and he had around two hours of decent sport in the afternoon with me packing him up at around 3.15pm with the bag picked 29 pigeons a half decent day at this time of year.

Billy was happy with today's sport thank god as the pressure was on me today to get him some half decent shooting but in the end it was another good day and client was happy.

Just a note we did not charge Billy full whack for the two bad days shooting we only charged him our cost's which he was happy with we like to treat our clients well.

Pigeon Decoying Fife

We have been back at the pigeons now for the past 2 weeks with some success with some half decent bags along the way. I have been to busy with other things reason blog has not had a up date for a wee while.

This week seen a dane return with two of his friends last time he was with his brother and father it was nice to welcome him back return business is always best.

Today was a cracking day for shooting Lot's of pigeons around they are breaking up now but today we seen there is still many in large winter flocks but we are trying our best to break these up. There was a very strong wind blowing which was good for our pigeon shooting clients.

The clients had steady shooting all day until it started to slow down around 12.30 and by 3pm it was time to call it a day with 250+ shots my clients where happy we picked around 50 pigeons with some lost not the best bag for shots but main thing clients had a cracking day of sport.

Hi to all my readers i have had me wee Holiday to recharge after a long but good season on the geese and duck's.

I am now looking forward to getting in about the pigeons which we have our 1st clients in starting next week. It's not going so well for some local guides this early in the pigeon season the word is the pigeons are not playing ball still in big flocks etc and not decoying at all.

Let's hope by this time next week things have changed for the better we are sure we will get our clients under some pigeons.

Our diary is filling up every day for the 2009-2010 goose shooting season so if any of my clients are looking in and have not re booked for this coming season i would get in touch sometime soon or else the dates might have been sold.

Last season was a good season for our company and our clients most where happy with the shooting they got form us and 90% have already re booked.

Well i had out a couple of lads i have knew from my time working around loch leven many years ago. Nick and Phil are crazy full stop what crack you get with this pair in the shooting field there visit for the crack as well as a shot at the geese.

Nick still has the same hair style as he did 10 years ago and still a great crack. we caught up on some lost time while on a morning flight.

I did hear though they went in to my local town Leslie on the last night for a piss up and caught a taxi home to Kinesswood well on the way home the taxi broke down with a flat tyre.

Well the two lads where pissed as farts so they offered to help the taxi driver change the wheel well the got the flat off and put on the spare but did not put the nuts on tight and the car started to shack as it went along the road. For offering to help the driver change the wheel they got charged a extra £20 for there crap work on the tyre change.

I know nick reads this blog maybe he can leave a comment on this tyre change lol.

Anyway it was a pleasure to spend a morning flight in there company at the end of the season. I look forward to seeing you next Jan lads.

We received a e-mail today from Walter Austin a shooting client from Ireland how was over in Scotland this month shooting with our great friend and fellow goose guide Andrew Richardson of SAFARI IN SCOTLAND.

The document below was enclosed in the e-mail from Mr Austin who is now going to report Mr Richardson of SAFARI IN SCOTLAND to BASC and the other shooting organisations for the poor service he received while hunting in Scotland with SAFARI IN SCOTLAND

Dear Sir
As spokesman for a group of six sportsmen I would like to tell you of our experiences goose shooting in Scotland.
We booked 2 days shooting geese and ducks including accommodation with Andrew Richardson of Safari in Scotland (who for want of a better description I will call our host) for 5th and 6th Dec .We travelled from Northern Ireland all day on 4th arriving at The Grove ,in Turriff Aberdeenshire at approx 8.30pm where we met our host Mr Richardson. Our rooms were not ready so we had a few drinks and a meal, at about 10.30 PM our rooms were ready and what a disappointment 2no rooms with 3no single beds in each, quite obvious that these were not bedrooms at all and the beds had been hastily produced from somewhere, there were no towels etc and the single bathroom was dirty,It being too late to seek alternative accommodation we fad a few more drinks and slept in our clothes on top of the beds having decided to seek new accommodation in the morning. The manager informed us that he had only been told of our arrival at 6pm on that day.

On the morning of the 5th we roused our host and set off goose shooting,At the field we set out decoys and our host set up the “hide” (which consisted of a piece of netting about 8ft long supported on poles no more than 3ft high which six of us crouched behind on our knees in the driving rain. ),bearing in mind some of us are past the first flush of youth this soon took its toll on our knees and by the time we got standing the birds had already been shot.Our host then left the field saying he would return with the heavy shells which he had forgotten to bring.When the shooting was over and our host returned he said that there would be no Duck shooting that afternoon. We then told him that the accommodation was unsuitable and we would seek alternative elsewhere which we did in the Kintore Arms at Inverurie( which by the way was excellent).So we were left to amuse ourselves all Friday afternoon.(there are some fine pubs in Inverurie) On Friday evening we phoned our host to tell him where we were and were told that he could not find any geese for us to shoot on Saturday but he could take us to a pond to shoot ducks then pheasants and woodcock.We travelled on Sat morning (passing several fields where geese were feeding)to a farm about 16 miles from Aberdeen on the coast where our host flushed the ducks off the pond and picked up.He then asked us to pay him for the Thursday nights accommodation which we reluctantly did and then he left after telling us we had to pay the farmer for the ducks.We asked the farmer about the pheasant and woodcock shooting and the reply was “there is no pheasants here “ so we shot a few feral pigeons around the farm and were back at our hotel by lunch time to pass the rest of the day on the town.
In conclusion irrespective of the cost, six of us spent approx 12 hrs travelling to Aberdeenshire and 12hrs back home, the hire of a minibus,fuel, and return ferry crossing to spend 4hrs shooting 30 geese and ½ hour shooting 38 ducks and 6 feral pigeons.

All of us would be reluctant to repeat the experience of goose shooting in Scotland and would definitely not recommend Safari in Scotland Mr Andrew Richardson or the Grove hotel in Turriff
I have since learned that several other parties from Northern Ireland have been conned by this outfit and would like to think that your organisation could do something to forewarn anyone else thinking of booking shooting with them.

Shocking news on geese being dumped in Aberdeenshire

Hundreds of shot geese left to rot after being illegally dumped

HUNDREDS of shot geese are being illegally dumped and left to rot in the north-east, it emerged last night.
Grampian Police say they are “concerned” that distressed members of the public have been stumbling upon up to 40 carcases at a time.
The birds cannot be put into landfill because they contaminate water courses.
Force wildlife crime officer David MacKinnon said the geese were being legally shot but there was no market to sell them, grey geese in particular.
He said the crime was no different to someone dumping a fridge.
“They have to pay for them to be incinerated, so people are dumping the carcases,” he said.
Mr MacKinnon also voiced concerns over the high levels of deer poaching in Grampian. He continued: “People need the land owner’s permission and it must be the right season and the right time of day to shoot deer.”
People living in rural areas have been urged to be on the alert as part of an initiative against poaching and hare coursing which was launched last month. It follows concern over an increase in wildlife crime and the damage it causes to the environment and local economies

The news on this matter is that the guide is already well know to police in the aberdeenshire area we will leave it for you to decide who this guide might be.
