Notre Dame who has lost twice and maybe beaten ONE ranked team is ranked above Georgia! What the crap?? Georgia has lost ONCE to a team ranked #13!!! Down with the IRISH!!!!Brandyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00028887737680538642noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18184915.post-1130228245805740612005-10-25T00:45:00.000-07:002005-10-25T01:17:26.126-07:00O-V-E-R ..... R-A-T-E-D ....As you can probably already tell that I have issues with the ranking system of college football... Here's yet another example of why....

I met a guy a few weeks ago who kept using the word "overrated", he used it so much it kind of lost its meaning, know what I'm talking about? This is the word I use to describe Notre Dame. They sit nice and pretty atop the AP poll at #9, with 2 loses. The closest 2 loss team is Ohio State at #12 (and I'll get to them later) and then Florida ranked #16. Now why does Notre Dame get the ranking of #9? I've been asking myself that question for a few weeks. Sure, I was hoping and praying a few weeks ago that they would pounce and kill USC, but that didn't happen and they lost....AGAIN. Who have they played and BEAT to warrant such a HIGH ranking? hmm... Pittsburg? nope, not ranked... Purdue? nope, not ranked... Washington? nope! I think you get the picture. The only RANKED team ND has beat is Michigan and they are ranked #25! NUMBER 25!!! Florida has lost 2 games, beat a team ranked #23, should they be #9? Of course not, but they deffinately shouldnt be #16, especially with Notre Dame and Ohio State, both with TWO losses, in front of them!! Give me a break... How about you AP, USA Today and Harris Poll votes stop with your BIASED voting and start voting for the teams that truely deserve the votes? It won't happen... I seem to have forgotten when "politics" became such a huge part of this sport I love so much...

Now on to Ohio State... Yeah they won the National Championship what 3 years ago?? People, get over it. There argument is the exact same as Notre Dame, but worse! Who have they beaten? NONE of the teams they have won against are ranked.... NONE... thats really all i need to say about that!!

When I did my strenght of schedule figures for Ohio State, Notre Dame and Florida this is what I came up with ....

Ohio State - 1.6113
Notre Dame - 1.6177
Florida - 1.6484

Hmmm, I think figures speak louder than stupid biased voters...Brandyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00028887737680538642noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18184915.post-1130226062027141582005-10-24T23:52:00.000-07:002005-10-25T00:41:41.256-07:00BCS - My Week 1 - October 24, 2005To get my figures all I did was use the score the "real" BCS gave each team and added points for each win based on my chart. If they lost a game they only received .05 points....

1) USC - 2.7656
2) Texas - 2.5063
3) Alabama - 2.4813
4) Virginia Tech - 2.4464
5) Penn. St. - 2.385
6) Georgia - 2.3479
7) Florida St. - 2.2535
8) LSU - 2.2265
9) UCLA - 2.2084
10) Miami - 1.9614Brandyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00028887737680538642noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18184915.post-1130223815071363562005-10-24T23:49:00.000-07:002005-10-25T00:03:47.723-07:00Strenght of Schedule PointsSo this is how I do it... For every team you beat you get points. If you beat a non-ranked team you get .20 points. Here are the others...

1) .50
2) .49
3) .48
4) .47
5) .46
6) .45 and so ... Each rank goes down a one....Brandyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00028887737680538642noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18184915.post-1130042508852644372005-10-22T21:33:00.000-07:002005-10-22T21:41:48.856-07:00The hatred has begun...My hatred for the "BCS" grows each and every Monday and for that I have started calculating my OWN BCS - Brandy's Bowl Series. The thing that is missing most, in my opinion, from the BCS is strength of schedule. You could have someone sitting atop the polls at the #3 spot who has only beat ONE ranked team. I wont name any names, Virginia Tech, but I'm sick of the politics getting in the way. It irks me that a true contender and REAL football team will be left out of the National Title game because they aren't "hip" enough or don't have enough AP voters on their side. Yes, I did say hip. We are in the age where everyone thinks USC is unstopable and so they are all on this bandwagon. Well, like most college football fans Ive been a fan of MY team for a long time and I dont hop on anyone elses wagon...What I would like to do is actually rip off the tires to the wagon and chunk them in the ocean, but that would be illegal. Now my formula is not perfect, but it does seperate the MEN from the BOYS... if you dont agree with me, Good... I like people who think differently! :)Brandyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00028887737680538642noreply@blogger.com
