Long Time No Hear

Well, I received a phone call from an old friend this morning who wanted to know if everything was okay. It seems that this friend had been actually reading my Blog!! Go figure, I didn't think that anybody but me EVER read this thing. It was quite a surprise and to put it quite frankly I was kinda embarrassed that I hadn't posted anything since March. The thing is, I started this as a knitting Blog, and well, to tell you the truth all-of-a-sudden, poof I have no real interest in knitting right now. Maybe because it's been too hot? No, that's not it, because I live in L.A. and the weather up until now as been temperate to say the least. The real truth is I hobby-in-phases!!! There it's out there, I said it. For a minute I was working on several screenplay's and for right now, I'm bowling. I've been going bowling with a couple of co-workers since the first week in June, and starting this coming Wednesday, I'm joining a league. So there it's out!! I know that my friend is going to call me because I failed to mention this this morning when we talked. Sorry, it really slipped my mind.
For those of you who may be secretly reading this Blog, and are now disappointed that it is no longer a knitting blog, alas, have faith, like I said, I hobby in phases so take heart I have not thrown my needles away, and am always happy to buy more yarn for yet another unfinished project.

I'm sure that me and maybe one other person (who shall remain nameless) are the only ones reading this blog, but WHATEVER!!! It may even be cool if others are reading it and they realize that "Hey I remember her blog" when I win the Academy Award etc etc etc...LOL okay you can STOP laughing now!!
I'm putting the yarn up, I may NEVER finish that damn shawl, yeah the one I never got around to posting a more recent picture of. Maybe before I store it for good i'll take a picture and post it. Maybe not, I don't know right now.
On another subject, I HATE MY JOB, and it got sooooooo bad yesterday that I came to the conclusion that by June 6, 2006 I need to be gainfully employed else where. Where I do not know. So if ANY of you know of a Entertainment Industry job that is entry level and pays at least $16.00 to $20.00 per hour or more, could you let a girl know? Please, I'm serious, as I type this I'm waiting for FedEx to deliver my Screen Writing Software and once it gets here I plan on finishing the first original script I've started and continue working on the 2 adaptations that I have started!!!
And to that certain someone, could you give me a call please because I want to know how your weekend went LOL. Seriously I heard there was snow where you were at!!!
I would say have a nice day, but that would imply that I blog everyday, and we all know that's just not ever gonna be true.

Hey there!
I just got called on the carpet by one of my friends who up till now I DIDNT think was reading my Blog!!!!
So, here's the deal. I didn't go to Vegas for the Ceerleading Compitition! I stayed in L.A. It's okay cause it's not like I'd have had the nerve to go up to a guy I didn't know and tell him I thought he was hot.
I am currently writing a script based on a book that I read recently.
To the friend that just told me all about what I'd written, I've been thinking about you. Maybe if you called a girl everyonce in a while she wouldn't be trying to meet up with somebody else. She REALLY NEEDS TO TALK TO YOU!!!!!
Oh well gotta go, I should have posted this a long time ago

I know it's been a long time since my last post, and this is actually my second post with the "Happy New Year !!!!" title. Their was an error and so NOW, because I can't exactly remember what I said in the very brief post that got deleted due to the ERROR.
The shawl is still in the same state is was in the last time we spoke. And, right now I'm not to sure exactly how much further that thing's gonna go.

Okay, so I've been remiss in my duty's as a "Blogger". At least it hasn't been over 30 days! Almost, but not quite eh?
The shawl is still in the exact same condition/stage as the last time I posted and/or mentioned it.
I have been extremely busy trying to reorganize my shamble of a life. I have decided that it is time to REALLY do something about the direction I would like to go career wise. As-a-matter-of-fact, I saw this movie and it basically renewed my passion to taking some of the control/responsibility for the wreck that has become my life. I trullt believe that this will indeed be may year. So look forward to some updates and special aanouncements in the very, very, near future.

Happy Christmas, Hannukah, Boxing Day, Kwanza .....

First of all, Happy Holidays EVERYBODY!!! I'm not sure if I mentioned it, but I got my 10 year old niece a pre-paid cell phone for Christmas....and well, it went over VERY WELL with her, she wassssssssss sooooooooooooooooo excited, she was jumping all around the livingroom sreaming. I scored some well deserved "Kool Auntie" points this afternoon. She's on the phone right now, telling one of her school friends all about it, and how she found out that she had it! How cool was this, I ordered it from Virgin USA about 2 1/2 weeks ago. It came about 3 days after I oredered it. I charged it up and had it activated and got her cell number via email from Virgin. I then wrapped the box that I phone came in- I somehow failed to mention that I ordered my self a new phone- put her name on the gift, and stuck it under the tree. I came home from work today to an empty house- everybody else went to church- and turned her phone on, wrapped her phone in the same paper that mine was in and put it under the tree!! I waited till she had opened another gift, the I called her cell number and pretended to be calling someone else. My Mom the asked her why the gift with her name on it was making noise, open it and see why!!! She was beyond excited, it was soooooo cool, I will remember the look on her face as long as I live!! It was CLASSIC.

No yarn news, although I just found out that Danielle at NoNoKitty is calling it quits for the most part. I know that she got married over the summer, so maybe shes trying to focus on family right now. I know that I got interested in dying yarn because of her. She will sorely be missed. She's still going to dye up the last of her in-stock yarn. Stay tuned if anything changes.
There are a gazillion yarn sales going on out there. I'll make a list, with expiration dates and post them here.
No news of the shawl either.........it may forever be a WIP, work-in-progress.

Is this all there is to blogging? Are there possibly so many of us out there that no one is reading -and more to the point- responding to anybody else out there? I actually asked one "popular blogger" who is on blogger and shall remain nameless a simple question. Do you think I got so much as a form letter style response? I'm glad that I wasn't holding my breath!!! This almost makes me want to become THE MOST BEST KNOWN BLOGGER OF THEM ALL!!!!
Sorry for that to anybody who may actually be reading me regularly, I most definitely DO NOT mean YOU!!! Thanks for listening to the rants of a single middle-aged (although I'm not real sure waht that is these days) African-American female living in L.A.

I know, I've promised pictures of the shawl so far, and no worries they are coming. The funny thing is, I haven't worked on that damn shawl since I promised the pictures. Maybe somewhere in the back of my mind I feel guilty for NOT posting the promised pictures. Who knows, I really don't even want to think about it.

There has been some excitement at my house. I purchased a "Virgin" mobile phone for my 10 year old niece for Christmas, and her mother, my only sister is agast!!! I think shes just upset because #1 I didn't offer to buy her one, and #2 this forces her to realize that her daughter is growing up. This kid already stands about an inch taller than our mother, shes creaping up on her mother -my sister- and I've got till about mid-summer to be taller than she is. I remember the Christmas that my sister was pregnant with her, and it seems that she's been plowing along at break neck speed since the day she was born. I'll see if I can get permission from my sister to post her picture over the school holiday break.

Oh well, gotta go, laundry's calling, I only have 2 or 3 loads to do. Have a great weekend in case I don't get back until next week. Peace

Okay, so I know I promised to write everyday for at least a week, and I fell short by what, 3 or 4 days? I've been so busy since I went back to full duty, I hardly know where I head is. And of course it doesn't matter that it's that time of year when everything is in utter kaos anyway!!! Have any of you finished your Christmas/Holiday shopping? I have actually done my favorite thing, that's shopping online. If you're not doing it you should really try it. It's fast it's simple, and best of all, there are NO PUSHY SALES PEOPLE PISSING YOU OFF!!! No really, it's amazing. I have purchased everything from car assesories to airline tickets etc... all online. So far I've NEVER had any problems, although I ONLY shop at sites that offer "secure servers", this means that if you experience any trouble they take the heat because their site is supposed to have top notch security.

Nothing on yarn today, although today is my good friend Sandra's birthday. Actually I'm not sure how old she is but I do know that it is indeed today. So, I've gotta go and wish her a Very Happy Birthday and many, many more.

Okay, so I'm not even sure what happened! I had intentions to post yesterday, somehow in my delusional mind I actually did post yesterday! No, you don't have to scroll down, I DID NOT POST YESTERDAY!!!! I was online most of the day, I went to Wal-Mart, Costco, Barnes and Noble, and Trader Joes, where was my post in all of that.

Speaking of yesterday on the knitting front, I drug out the shawl and the digital camera, but did I take the picture, NO! I think that I was tramatizied by my last attempt to post pictures to this blog. But never fear I will NOT be beaten by an inanimate object, I WILL NOT, I WILL NOT, I WILL NOT......DAMNIT!!!!!! Well, I don't know about you but I feel so much better : )

Left me just tell you right now. I may not be posting tomorrow as there is a very very very important college football game on. Yes that's right UCS vs. UCLA and I am an SC fan!!!

Quickly, I'm tired, it's my technical Friday, (those who work in the 24 hour world will understand), and quite frankly I'm not really feeling like anything right now!!! I am really excited about Vegas in January. Did I tell you that I thought I wasn't going to go, but my sister changed her mind, and decided to go after all? So, I (hopefully) will get to see that HOT guy I saw earlier this month at Six Flags Magic Mountain. Hum, there is now so much that I have to do. First I have to have those idiots were I work approve the 3 days I need off. I already have Thursday and Friday off, I just need Saturday through Monday! Next, I need to book airline ticket but that shouldn't be a problem either because we're not going around any Holidays. Then, I need to get the Hotel information out of my sister, because our Mom is going to help us out with the room. Personally I'd like to sleep alone, but whatever, unless I can get a really good rate at the host Hotel, thats just not gonna happen!!!!

So, you want to talk about yarn? Well, I don't. I had every intention of coming in here tonight and taking pictures of that damn shawl, but first I'd have to dig out the shawl, then locate the digital camera, then try to remember how to friggin' set the whole thing up via my computer, (and this from a woman who wrote her first computer program in 1972, at the ripe old age of 10), then I'd have to open the "Create A Post Page" and decide where to put the stupid picture, then hope I did it right, then cross my fingers that whatever text I wrote around the picture didn't sound too lame. Whew.....after all that WHAT MAKES YOU THINK I REALLY WANT TO SHOW YOU ALL THAT SHAWL!!! Maybe tomorrow, okay?

It's Sunday

Well, today wasn't too bad, it was busy but manageable! I did come home and go to bed though, and if it hadn't been for my pesky little sister I'd still be sleep. She lives upstairs with my very precocious 10 year old niece, and she wants my to wax her eyebrows. No, I'm am not a professional and I'm not really sure what I said to her. Anyway, I'm up now, and I just kicked my niece out of the den, (where my computer is) and sent her and her playstation 2 packing back upstairs!!!

Now onto the knitting portion of this blog!! I'm not really certain which direction I intend to go just yet! What I should do is finish the "Baby Alpaca Brush" Shawl, then decide. The problem is...I don't want to miss a go online yarn sale, not that I current know of any, I have gone to the following sites insearch of bargins however! I'm still insearch of something different. I was watching Knitty Gritty on DIY Network just before I went to sleep and Lily Chin was on talking about how to connect "Ribbon " yarn seamlously and I thought then that I might want to try something, (like a small scarf or purse) in ribbon yarn. I think I saw some onsale at JimmyBeans Wool. Whatever, we'll see.

I'm On A Roll

Okay, so it's day 3 of the "I promise to post for an entire week" journey and so far so ggod! Today was another quite day at the Airport, however we all know thaat tomorrow "all hell is gonna break lose". It has to it's the Sunday after Thanksgiving and every mother and her son that came to L.A. is going to need/want to go home!!! Soooo, what will we do, I'll tell you what, we're gonna roll up our shirt sleeves bite the bullet and get those people outta here!!!

And in an unrelated story about knitting, I have indeed decided to make anothe shrug for winter wear, I also really, really, need a pattern for wrist warmers and maybe even arm-warmers if such a thing actually exists'. If I'm not the only person reading my blog, and someone out there has an idea, I welcome input at all times, and whatever you say will be much appreciated : ). Maybe I should contact my lys, because Patricia at The Slipt Stitch in El Segundo, CA. on Main will certainly have some ideas. I need something that I can wear at work, with a short sleeve shirt. You see today it rained early early in the morning at LAX, and the sun didn't appear until about noon! I had to work in a very cold area, so cold I had to borrow my friend Steve's jacket. I know that there will be times when I need to work and cannot wear my jacket even though it is part of my company issued uniform (go figure) soooo, the arm-warmer/wrist warmer idea seems apropo. Looking forward to hearing from someone soon. Thanks : )

The Day After

So, it's the day after Thanksgiving and the official beginning to the Holiday Season! Since I had to work it was just another day, although since most people are still out of town, the airport was extremely quite. It was so quite that some people actually went home early, go figure ;).

I've been thinking about my next big knitting project. I'd like to dye some yarn and possible make an oversized raglan sweater ala sweatshirt or maybe another shrug. I'll probably do the shrug since it doesn't take tha much yarn to make and I could do it with something that I already have. Yes, I'd love to go out and but some new yarn, and actually I might go to my local yarn store (lys) and get some "Lambs Pride" because it accpets the kool-aid very well and comes out in very crisp, vibrant colors!!! Oh well, we'll see.

Don't even ask me where I've been! I honestly couldn't tell you. Oh I haven't been traveling I just haven't been HERE!!! Actually if someone could tell ME where I've been I'd be most grateful. Let's see to start it all off, I'm back at work on regular duty, (I'd been there but on Limited Duty, due to a work related injury). I only had to work the 2 worst days in the world to work if you're in the travel industry!!! Yes, those 2, the 2 dreadful days before Thanksgiving. The only plus to actually being on my feet for darn near 8 hours is that those 2 days went very, very quickly.
I did get to attend my nieces' "Cheerleading Compition" on this past Sunday, and her squad will be representing the "Hawthorne YMCA" in Fabulous Las Vegas this January! They were there last February, but I didn't go. This year since I'm back at work full time, I'm going!!! Besides there was this totally "HOT" guy helping out squads doing stunts etc... Hopefully he'll be there.

NOW, on to some knitting info: I still need to take some more pictures of my Shawl, it's really coming along. I still haven't found a suitable pattern for the matching fingerless gloves that will use up the remaing 3 ball of "Baby Alpaca Brush".
WOW, not much on knitting was there? Anyway, I'm really going to try to post something everyday this week, I maybe I'll even get around to digging out the Shawl and taking a couple of picture of it!!

Hope you all are having a wonderful Thanksgiving, and if I don't write anymore this year a GREAT Holiday Season!!! Just kidding, I wanted to see who might be paying attention.

Long Time No See

It's been almost a week! Or has it been over a week? Anyway, so much is going on that I don't know where to start. First things first, since this is a knitting blog, I'll start with that. My shawl is coming along nicely. Remember I purchased 6 balls of Baby Alpaca Brush? Well I guess my math skills are less than what they should be. I just started my 3rd ball, and I really think that once it's blocked 3 balls will be more than enough to complete this project. I'm still not sure what to do with the remaining 3 balls. I'm still leaning towards a pair of fingerless gloves using the same stitch pattern, because surely I have more than enough yarn to do this!!
Now, on to other subjects! My job search is kicking into high gear. I've found a job locally that has the potential to turn into many different positions globally, which is just the coolest thing I could possibly think of!!! I tried to apply last week but only succeeded in posting my resume. Sooooooo, today after I take a ride out there to check things out, (you know get a vibe for things), I'm going to sit down, and re-apply!! I was a little bummed out earlier this week, because the job had disappeared from the companies web site, but day before yesterday I was online and voila! it was BACK!!!!!!! I am sooooo pumped.

Another Day

My shawl is really coming along nicely! I purchased 6 balls of "Baby Alpaca Brush" but I'm seeing now that I could have probably done this with only four balls. Hummm! I know, maybe i'll make a short pair of wrist warmers to match the shawl, or even a hat. Heavy sigh! We'll get to that when we get to that. What I really need to get into is a Knit-A-Long, that's just starting up, and that's knitting something that I would really be interested in, AND already have yarn for, with a free pattern to use. I'm trying to save some money because I've run out of printer ink and really, really need to get some more.
I'm a little bewildered right now. I'm watching Oprah, and this Country singer is absolutely out of her mind. Her boyfriend beat her up pretty badly, and she actually loves him more than she loves herself!! This concept trully boggles my mind. WOMEN of the World....wake up "If he hit's you once, he WILL hit you again, get some help, and know there are those out there who will love you for you and not abuse you......There I feel better. I hope you all will feel better.

2005 is as they say on Iron Chef..."Ova"!! Lets face it, it is today is the first of November, and do you have ANY of your holiday shopping done? Nope, I didn't think so, cause neither do I, as a matter of fact, except for putting up the decorations I purchased last year and NEVER used, I'm boycotting this holiday season. I don't have enough time, enough money or enough patience to endure yet another year of the "you must haves..." Go ahead fill in the blank, cause heaven knows if you don't already own it, you must have it now!!! When did we turn into these one track mind society of gotta's? Somebody stop the planet, I want to get off!! NOW!!!! Okay, that said, I'm off to dinner with friends, and I think I'll have a drink!! Naw, that won't happen, because I have to get up at 02:15 and go to work. Oh well, somebody out there who doesn't have to go to work tomorrow, have a good stiff one for me, will ya?!?!?!

Hurray!!! Finally I have some pictures of my shawl. It won't look like the Opera Scarf picture until I block it. I must confess, this will be the first thing I've EVER knit, that I've EVER blocked!! There, that confession sure felt good : ). Now please be gentle, this is my first photo posting EVER. Clearly the word EVER is the word of the day!!!! Cool...
Okay, so what do you think? This was really easy except for trying to figure out getting the pictures from the camera to the computer. I'm really starting to feel like I need one of those.......for Idiots books! : p

Just Another Saturday

Okay so, how many of you don't have a real life like me? Oh don't get me wrong, I enjoy what life I have it's just not the life I'm accustomed to!! But hey, life doesn't always deal us the hand we'd like to be dealt right? I'm trying really hard to watch the USC and Washington State game. Of course my Trojans are playing one-hell-of-a game!!! : ). I'm supposed to be at a Semi-pro football game in the valley...but...oh well.
So about my current knitting project it is the Opera Scarf Pattern by "Blue Sky Alpacas", only I didn't use their yarn I used Plymouth Yarn "Baby Alpaca Brush" in color #1477 Pear Green from Webs. I paid $4.00 per ball back in May. I got 6 balls because I intend to make a shawl instead of a scarf. Im sometimes a little slow when it comes to understanding a knitting pattern, (yes I'm aware of how simple this pattern actually is...) but for some reason, if it calls for a yarn over it takes me several false starts to get it right, however once I've got it....watch out!!! I'll post a picture just as soon as I figure out how. You know the funny thing is, I am NOT computer stupid. I actually took a Saturday Computer class at USC when I was 10 years old, way back in Nineteen hundred and seventy-two!!!! Oh well, I have every confidence in myself to figure it out.

I have a million knit projects that I want to start, on top of the million and one projects that I need to finish. Is anyone out there going to Stitches West? Or maybe you live in an area where they hold an annual Stitches, and you'll be going to that one!!! I've never been but would love to go, I just don't think that I could ever afford it. Even though I live in Los Angeles, I don't think that driving to Santa Clara would be anything that I would want to do!!!! Although a ride up Hwy 101 might be quite the road trip. Oh well I'm going to get the ball rolling on this site asap. One of my co-workers ex-boyfriend is in a play this weekend, and another co-worker plays semi-semi-pro football, and he has a game this Sunday, so it won't be this weekend : (

Wow!! Well it's been several days since I first posted on my "Blog". I'm not detered just busy! There's so much going on right know. I really want to get into what this "Blog" is all about which is knitting. I need to figure out how to link other "Bloggers" pages to this one and to make myself known in the online knitting community. I'm also trying to get another job, actually a BETTER job and so I suddenly feel myslef being pulled into a bunch of different directions : ( And this too shall pass.

The First Day

Greetings! This is my first day on my new Blog, and bot am I excited. I suppose that I should share with you why I chose "Baa Baa Black Sheep" as the title of my Blog. I would think that it is obvious, and maybe it is to some of you. You see, I'm a knitter, and after reading so many of the Knitting Blogs out there, I decided tha I wanted one too!! Thats where the "sheep" reference comes from....you remember the nursery rhyme? Baa baa black sheep have you any wool? yes sir, yes sir, three bags ful... Anyway, and well I chose "Black Sheep" cause- well I'm African-American, and it just seemed ironic- go figure, I'm just witty that way.

Enough of that, I am interested to see just how long I keep this up. No worries though I do more than knit, so don't be surprised if you find travel stuff here as well. Ooooh, and travel/knitting stuff as well ;O Gotta love me.
