I decided to put back up the bigger fish tank - a 30gal long one - I had a regular 30gal. one but let Harry use it - so I went to a small 10 gallon but only to realize that the angel fish took up half the tank - lol So, yesterday took most of the day to set up that bigger tank, and get the water and chemicals in it. The fish have been placed in it and the Angelfish seems to enjoy it, but then how would I know? I mean it's not like the fish swims around whistling' and humming "ohhh happy day" - he just, well swims.
Well, it's back to the scanner and old photos -Oshutteruphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18278678955339662719noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1772387104198791730.post-63827439368978801112008-07-15T11:22:00.003-05:002008-07-15T11:31:02.809-05:00A hot July morning...Another hot July morning.... so humid that I even broke down and let our dog, BJ enjoy the air conditioning in the house.. poor fellow - he's a jack russell and a great little dog. But I got tickled at him, letting him - he loves it but then he will go to the back door as if to say "oh, you can bring the country dog into the house, but you can't take the country out of him"... in other words, he's like, "ok, I'm ready to go back out there and fight the world and make sure no strange animal as entered the yard". Ooops, now he's stretched out on the floor - sooo maybe he's enjoying the air conditioner alot more than I realize.. :)
We've been busy getting Harry and Rachel moved, and yes, I did cry that first day I washed clothes and realized that after 19 years that was the first load of clothes that I washed and his weren't in there.
So, I've been busy scanning old photo's and negatives.. it's really interesting to me to scan photos or negatives enlarge them and see the little things.. I wonder what are ancestors would think of our technology now?
Ok, I'm just rambling now - I hear the washing machine stop so it's time to unload it and feed another small load of towels...Oshutteruphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18278678955339662719noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1772387104198791730.post-20348148991462945382008-05-29T08:01:00.002-05:002008-05-29T08:16:17.720-05:00This photo was taken back in 2006 - there was a tree frog underneath the steps of the old steps when had for the pool - about the time i took the photo - harry steps into the picture.. I love this photo.... anyway...
So, that's what afew of the things we've been doing around here - Besides painting - I laid the paintbrush down, and mowed the yard, while Harry and Len did some cleaning up around the pool and getting the pumps hooked back up to get the pool open this week. We will finish it up today sometime and get the chemicals in, etc..
Yesterday was one of those days you had to been there in order to be funny. LOL We heard BJ barking as if "alert, alert, somethings wrong" - so Harry walks around the side of the house, says afew words to BJ - then hollers "OHHHHHH Shiittttt" - then hollers "Daddd!!" - after we go out there to see what was going on - he hollers "JESSE get the gun there's a snake!!" - in the meantime Len's running across the yard, "DON'T SHOOT IT, you'll shoot a hole in the house"... well, it was comical - in a snaky scary sorta way! LOL - Rachel and I stood off in the distances to watch them kill it - sorry snake lovers we aren't and they don't survive around here. That's actually the first one we've seen around the house in maybe 10 years - Anyway...
Hopefully, I'll get the rest of the rooms painted and enjoy the long summer days ahead...Oshutteruphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18278678955339662719noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1772387104198791730.post-41925485558668214832008-05-22T14:39:00.005-05:002008-05-22T14:47:25.294-05:00"You got clean underwear on...."
(yes, I know - he needs a haircut - trust me - we've been telling him that! Ohhhh heavens… brb, calling Wal-Mart – going to have them page him over the intercom – wonder what his reaction would be if he heard “Harry this is your mother on the phone… I just wanted to check and make sure you have clean underwear on, incase you’re in an accident”… First of all, after he picked himself up off the floor, he’d disown me. lol I know, everything will be fine – I just pray for their safety – and pray they have an enjoyable time.

Oshutteruphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18278678955339662719noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1772387104198791730.post-66252203898031603992008-05-13T07:45:00.001-05:002008-05-13T07:46:49.278-05:00
I’m sure my friends will love to hear about the latest book I’ve been reading, “Dreams from my Father” by Barak Obama. Through all the media rumors and internet fake emails I wanted to read this to come to my own conclusion of Mr. Obama. I see that he has another book out – perhaps I’ll check into that one. I will be honest and say that I really enjoyed “Dreams from my Father” and in fact, some places found myself grabbing the Kleenex and holding back tears. I enjoy a book that gets you so into it that you actually feel like your there in the story and watching it unfold. Now that I’ve read it, has it changed my views about Obama?? Let’s just say I can actually put my mind to ease of all those fake emails. I will say nothing gets under my skin more than to hear someone say “oh, he’s a closet Muslim” – then go on with their “closet racist remarks” but don’t worry, they aren’t racist. Whether or not someone is a Obama supporter they should actually take the time to read this book - This may sound silly but I think he’s making the statement of “it’s for a change” perhaps the change starts in me too. Hmmm, wonder if I should be fair and go find a Hillary Clinton or John McCain book to read?? I’ll never learn. LOL

I talked myself out of going to Paducah today. I finally got enough “reward zone points” to use – 30.00 worth – so I thought I’d take a trip down there. I could go to Carbondale, but Paducah is better, plus leads to looking around other places. Why is it when you get “extra money” or a rebate you can find a zillion reasons to go cash them in? I have no idea what for, perhaps $30.00 off a new camera?!!

So, here I sit on the living room floor, propped up against the couch with a heating pad behind me – comfort to the shoulder and neck. Oh, and of course, my crackers and coke zero! I’ve been playing around in Photoshop and Paintshop pro – took quite a few photos the past few weeks at parks, and then a shipment of baby chicks came in. Those cute adorable little things don’t know what’s in store for them – especially with the owner having a camera!

The one photo above I have to comment on – it cracked me up when I was walking in the baseball stadium to turn and see a squirrel “escaping” with a nut in his mouth. It was like an instance of us both froze in time, me staring at him in disbelief of seeing him climbing that fence with the nut in his mouth, and him staring back at me – thinking “what in the hell is that!?” I love taking photos of animals..

Well, I better stop rambling…
Oshutteruphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18278678955339662719noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1772387104198791730.post-57467338179729325442008-04-15T08:53:00.003-05:002008-04-15T08:59:02.259-05:00noticing the difference in time...ever notice when your sitting somewhere waiting on others to show up the time ticks slowly by - but your laptop battery sucks in the difference! LOL I'm down to 56% of time left on here - They are half way here so that means my battery life will finish up the rest of the 44% lolol
I learned several things yesterday - be careful how you clean your laptop keyboard - and also, it's great to have a friend on yahoo tell ya how to put that key back on! :)
Also, learned that when one thing goes, seems like a pattern falls into place until you eat a handful of m&m's. Finally getting my butt back into gear and trying to catch up on a few things.
If living - my father-in-law would be celebrating his 91st birthday today - but he's gone on to his heavenly home - he passed away 22 years ago. Time passes so fast anymore -
Right now I'm listening to the DooWop station and some of these songs make me feel "old" lol - I"m just in a so-so mood, so this may be a boring blog.Oshutteruphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18278678955339662719noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1772387104198791730.post-88947629528928430932008-03-07T07:21:00.002-06:002008-03-07T07:40:55.685-06:00Happy Birthday, Mom...Well, the good news is we didn't get 10 inches - now they are just calling for 3-5 inches. On the way to town as I write this and the county trucks are out like busy little ants, making sure they spread enough of that stuff on the roads so no one "will get stuck" - maybe they should tell that to the bus driver who's bus is stuck in someone's driveway. :) Country life and small towns, ya gotta love it.
Coming through this small town - reminds me of my hometown of Harrisburg when we were kids. The times we did live in town, and those snowed in days of no school! Sliding down that street we lived on - we had it made, living at the top of that hill - sliding and sledding all day. So many memories and today is especially hard for me. Mom would of celebrated her birthday today. Knowing mom she's probably looking down from heaven and telling all the angels around her "those kids of mine, how many times have I told them to wipe those boots off before coming in that house..." or my all time favorite one "Ruthe one of these days I pray that when you have kids at least one of them turn out just like you do"... Guess what mom... they both did! :) But you'd be proud of them.. I know you would... I know you would.. Happy Birthday Mom.. Good night, sleep well, see you in the morning..Oshutteruphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18278678955339662719noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1772387104198791730.post-1745412992696054802008-03-05T07:16:00.001-06:002008-03-05T08:30:22.142-06:00When the power went off last night, we were all sitting here all bundled up on the sofa or the recliner staring out into darkness. It seemed like the whole world went black. Of course, seems like the minute the power goes out you think of a zillion things you could of done before it went out. For example, turned up the heat, made sure all the batteries worked in the flashlights, and made sure cell phones were charged!
While laying on the sofa all bundled up in total darkness and silence I started thinking of how it was growing up - many times we’d all jump in mom and dad’s bed all bundled up underneath the covers because of no power or heat, due to power outages or probably unpaid bill. Thinking of all the things that we talked about in between us brothers/sisters fighting over who had the most covers. If it was because of a snow storm - knowing mom would make snow ice-cream the next morning, if it was because of an ice storm - we’d get to go skating on the ponds, and if it was because of an un-paid bill then we got to stay home from school - so we had the best of both worlds!
I laid here and thought of when the boys were little and when we had power outages due to the weather, summer time was storms/tornado’s, and winter time ice/snow. A lot of times we’d lay bundle’s of blankets on the floor, and cover up with another set of blankets. We’d lay there half the night talking and laughing, and a lot of promises made those nights. For example, they promised they’d never ever get married, and IF they did get married they were going to marry mommy. One even promised they’d become rich, marry, and live in a castle, mommy would never ever have to worry about cooking anymore because they’d be so rich they could hire someone to cook. Ohhhh, the memories…
Well, it’s now the next morning, and the sun is shining nice and bright and more important the power is back on.. CNN is on, coffee pot is on and the laptop has been powered up.
I went out and took photo’s of the ice - looks like crystal city out there. Now, I need to get busy and get a few things done before it’s off to town while we got a chance.Oshutteruphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18278678955339662719noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1772387104198791730.post-34272587951515360232008-03-03T15:36:00.004-06:002008-03-03T15:40:20.634-06:00
Well, I finally found some photo’s and video’s I’ve been searching for. It's not as major as last week - well, at least it wasn't last time I checked - by morning it'll probably be another ice war storm.
So, here we are Thursday evening - on paltalk with friends, talking politics. Also, listening to American Idol in the background. Just in a so-so mood - and yes, I'm overcoming the pepsi withdrawal!! :)

Oshutteruphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18278678955339662719noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1772387104198791730.post-87446070520815443982008-02-16T12:02:00.001-06:002008-02-16T12:12:27.190-06:00Looking outside our window...

Seems like this ice is never going to go away. Yes, I know come 4 months from now and it's hot and muggy I'll be complaining, but right now I'm sick of ice and snow.

This photo just shows nothing but inches of layered ice - you could take a brick, rock or even your whole body - take off running (if you make it very far without falling) and slide all the way down to the neighbors house. The view was awesome last night, lights reflecting off the neighbors pole light - made a reflection all the way up to the house, it looked like a fainted but solid pathway.. awesome.

So, now I'm sitting here waiting for time to pass as I wait for Sue to come - we're heading over to best buys to check out their cameras. I'm fighting that awful temptation of getting a new digital camera - yeah, I know.
Oshutteruphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18278678955339662719noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1772387104198791730.post-56057114056731599102008-02-14T22:11:00.000-06:002008-02-14T22:14:12.505-06:00Viewing from a distant..Well, I learned today that just because the world looks wonderful and awesome from a distant doesn’t mean you have to go treading on thin ice to get to it. I actually tried to get to it but wasn’t able to. In other words, the world was beautiful today and after an ice storm and snow storm – it was like crystal city in some areas of the country side.
So I load up the camera and camcorder and drive off to take photo’s. I took the main roads to get to the back roads, only to discover those back roads are still iced up and slicker than snot on toast (not that I ever had snot on toast). So, I had to stick to the main roads, but then that became another problem, there was no place to pull over to get out of the car to take photos. Snow plows came along and pushed snow up against people’s driveways, church yards were not even cleared… so I just had to drive along and enjoy the view without camera or video camera. Sucks, huh?
After “touring” the main roads of country life for 30 miles, I ended up in Harrisburg. Went by the cemetery to visit mom and dad’s grave, that road was snow packed so I didn’t go down it, just viewed it from a distant. I miss them deeply.
I have a few YouTube video idea’s rolling around inside my head, now if I could just get on the stick and get going. I think it’s called cabin fever blues – I’d never make it in the deep heart of Alaska! Well, as long as they had internet and matches I’d be fine.
I think my moody spell is happening because I’m trying to “deprogram” myself from Pepsi or any other soft drinks – you know how exciting water is?? Not muchOshutteruphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18278678955339662719noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1772387104198791730.post-16384484091643609712008-02-14T10:32:00.001-06:002008-02-14T10:38:54.476-06:00The beginning..After viewing a friends blog and enjoy reading his great adventures and daily life - I thought I'd share my little world here.
I've kept "blogs" before the computer world came it was called "Dear Diary" for years. Most are hand written - one of these days I need to type it all out and save on dvd's.. a whole world of 35 some years.
So, I'm not all sure what I'm getting myself into as far as "Welcome to Oshutterup's World" - like I said, some days it can be a nice place to visit, other days just breathing the same air I do can be dangerous.. well, I'm not that mean.. honest. :)Oshutteruphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18278678955339662719noreply@blogger.com
