Florida Health Insurance Advisor On Clinton-Obama Health Insurance Plans

With about two dozen reporters crammed in a press room, Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton outlined her universal health care plan, which "would provide tax credits to make insurance more affordable" and "require businesses to offer insurance to workers or pay into a pool for people without it." Florida's health insurance advisor Morgan Moran added 'her opponent, Barack Obama thinks her plan is just talk'.

November 29 -- Florida health insurance web, a health insurance information web site, in its November 2008 political report says "Hillary Clinton plans to expand Medicare and the federal employees' health insurance plan" and to cover those without adequate workplace insurance. Moran, a Florida health insurance consultant said, Democratic presidential candidate "Barack Obama is casting doubt on Clinton's ability to enforce a requirement in her plan that every American buy health insurance."

"Clinton's plan is the most sweeping universal plan offered by any of the 2008 candidates." According to Moran, her campaign is pulling out all the stops on the health insurance issue.

FloridaHealthInsuranceWeb.com, reporting on each of the presidential candidates positions on healthcare said, "Clinton and Obama are the latest to argue over healthcare. 'The upcoming elections will impact Florida's health care system as far as benefits and rates are concerned' said Moran, 'whichever candidate takes the White House in 2009, Florida residents may end up with better health care than they have today'. "Health insurance is finally on the bargaining table and we all may benefit from it."

Clinton points to her web site where her position on healthcare is clearly stated. On her website www.hillaryclinton.com she has posted the following points:

(1) If you have an insurance plan you like, you can keep it. If you want to change plans or aren't currently covered, you can choose from dozens of the same plans available to members of Congress, or you can opt into a public plan option like Medicare. And working families will get tax credits to help pay their premiums.

(2) Small businesses are the engine of new job growth in the U.S. economy but face bigger challenges when it comes to providing health care for their employees. Hillary would give tax credits to small businesses that provide health care to their workers to help defray their coverage costs. This will make small businesses more competitive and help create good jobs with health benefits that will stay here in the US.

(3) Insurance companies won't be able to deny you coverage or drop you because their computer model says you're not worth it. They will have to offer and renew coverage to anyone who applies and pays their premium. And like other things that you buy, they will have to compete for your business based on quality and price. Families will have the security of knowing that if they become ill or lose their jobs, they won't lose their coverage.

(4) Nobody has worked harder or longer to improve health care than Hillary Clinton. From her time in Arkansas when she improved rural health care to her successful effort to create the SCHIP Children's Health Insurance program which now covers six million children, Hillary has the strength and experience to ensure that every man, woman and child in America has quality, affordable health care.

"Clinton has been criticizing Obama's health care plan for falling short of universal health coverage" said Moran, because unlike her plan, "Obama's (plan) would not require every American to buy insurance". Obama claims "his plan would lower the cost of insurance and guarantee access", removing the obstacles most often faced by people without insurance.

This week Obama argued that his rival (CLINTON) has been unwilling to say how she would enforce the mandate to buy health insurance. Without enforcement, "Obama said, it is nothing more than an empty 'political talking point'."

"Sen. Clinton still hasn't explained what this mandate is: What's she going to do if somebody doesn't purchase health care? Is she going to fine them? Is she going to garnish their wages?" Obama said.

"One of the problems with Clinton's health insurance approach, is that she hasn't been straight with the American people about how she's going to 'impose this mandate'. And without an enforcement mechanism, there is no mandate. It's just a political talking point," he continued.

A spokesman for the Clinton campaign, Lori Singer commented, "The fact remains that Sen. "Obama is going around saying he has a universal health care plan that in fact excludes 15 million Americans." Obama's own health care plan does include a requirement that families purchase insurance for their children.

Shortly after, Obama sent out a memo noting that in Massachusetts, the only state so far to require residents to buy health insurance, "hundreds of thousands of people have not purchased insurance despite a fine levied on those who fail to do so through their tax returns".

Americas Watchdog is demanding the the Securities & Exchange Commission & every State's Attorney General start investigating "auction rate preferred shares" & the fact that citizens in every US state were sold these extremely risky investments by a bank or stock broker as, "same as cash". Now tens of thousands of US citizens are being told by a bank or stock broker, "we don't know when you will get your money back". Why is this the biggest single case of fraud in US history? Its because the investors did not want risk, they wanted safety, and instead of that they were given an exotic risky investment device by greedy Wall Street investment houses & US banks. Why does this story deserve to be on NBC, CBS, ABC, & CNN? Its because this is by far the largest case of outright fraud in US history.

April 8, 2008 -- Americas Watchdog and its Corporate Whistle Blower Center are demanding that name brand banks or Wall Street financial institutions refund 100% of the investment unsuspecting US citizens placed in exotic investment devises called auction rate preferred shares, or auction rate shares. According to Americas Watchdog, "tens of thousands of US citizens were told by a US bank or Wall Street financial institution that auction rate shares were just like a CD, they were perfectly safe, and a consumer would never have to worry about their investment."

"Now in most cases, these small investors are being told by their bank or stock broker, they cannot get their money back or it will take months or longer. These US citizens were lied to, and now Americas Watchdog intends to force the issue with the SEC, State Attorney Generals, & the TV networks. We are talking about a half trillion dollars +; the life savings of tens of thousands of Americans. Wall Street and the banks will not get away with the biggest con job in history," states Americas Watchdog.

Americas Watchdog alleges the ARPS/ARS fraud is the biggest case of fraud in US history for the following reasons:

    * Tens of thousands of US citizens were told by a name brand bank or a Wall Street stock brokerage firm that auction rate preferred shares (ARPS/ARS) were just like cash, they were safe, they were just like a money market account, etc. The consumers did not want risk. Relying on their US bank or Wall Street stock brokerage firm, mom and pops and small investors in many cases were given an auction rate preferred share as a "safe alternative to a CD". Small investors were talked into investing hundreds of billions of dollars into this scheme.

    * Now these same banks or stock brokers are telling their clients they cannot access their money right now. However, the banks or stock brokerage firms are offering the auction rate preferred US victims the ability to borrow back some of their money, with interest. According to Americas Watchdog, "what a pathetic joke, first the banks & major stock brokers lie to tens of thousands of US citizens about the liquidity of auction rate preferred shares, now these same banks or brokers want to lend the victims back their own money? Not one customer was ever given a prospectus to the best knowledge of Americas Watchdog.

    * Americas Watchdog is indicating that if banks or financial institutions do not refund the auction rate preferred shares money in full to consumers, in the very near future the group will start a state by state protest/media event where individual consumers get to tell their auction rate preferred shares story to the local news media in front of the bank of stock brokerage firm that sold them this exotic not very safe investment. Consumers who were tricked into buying an option rate preferred share can call Americas Watchdog anytime at 866-714-6466.

According to Americas Watchdog, "The gloves are coming off, we are tired of seeing US citizens ripped off over and over and over again by Wall Street, US banks or a bought and paid for US Congress."

Talk about Reform or transparency from banks and Wall Street. In another case Americas Watchdog has been demanding that Congress require banks and mortgage bankers disclose a little known mortgage kick back called a "yield spread premium" for the last six years. According to the group, "50 million US homeowners pay a higher monthly mortgage payment today, because a bank or mortgage banker did not have to reveal the huge kick back they received, for increasing a home loan borrower's interest rate/monthly mortgage payment. Mortgage brokers must disclose these kick backs. Banks or mortgage bankers get the same kick backs, but they have no disclosure requirement."

Americas Watchdog says, "this kick back scheme rates #2 right behind the auction rate preferred shares fraud." In the case of the yield spread premium kick back, Congress has not been willing to require banks to disclose mortgage kickbacks because of the large donations they get from banks, home builders and mortgage bankers. Americas Watchdog's National Mortgage Complaint Center estimates that banks, mortgage bankers or home builders not having to disclose huge mortgage kick backs combined with appraisal fraud, are two of the major reasons we now have a national real estate meltdown.     * Tax breaks for oil companies

    * Billions in tax breaks for national home builders that have failed to pay federal or state taxes on their work force (most of whom were/are undocumented workers-Google Americas watchdog the worst case of tax fraud in US history)

    * High profile Congressional hearings on steroid use in baseball instead of Congressional hearings on drug companies paying off Congress for Medicare Part B that cost 30 billion dollars more per year than it should have (The drug companies actually wrote the legislation).

    * No Congressional hearings on Auction Rate Preferred Shares fraud even though its a $720+ billion dollar disaster

    * With lots of money going to Congress, the mortgage industry fought fiercely to spike a provision to let bankruptcy judges rewrite the terms of distressed mortgages. It won that battle; the provision was left out. This in light of the fact that home builders and banks artificially inflated the values of US homes.

    *      Contrary to the Wall Streeet lies about the credit crunch being over within the next 12 months 1 in 5 Americans will owe more on their home than it is worth.

"Things have to change at the top in the form of real national leadership, corporate honesty & integrity or our country will not survive," says Americas Watchdog.

I promptly reported them to LinkWorth and told the former advertiser that I would never take their business, no matter how much they offered us.

I did this because LinkWorth provides a good service and charges about 30% for the text ad fee. This is not a small amount, but the other sites I have seen generally charge about 50%, or 30% of the "wholesale" price. I consider both of these to be excessive, although to be fair LinkWorth does take 50% of the fees when they take care of the marketing and placing of text ads. I have not tried the full service option but it may be worth it.

Once your site is set up in LinkWorth, you can add code to your site which allows the adding and removing of text ads on your site to be automated. If you've ever added and removed links as advertisers change, you know that can take some time and be a headache if you have a lot of sites.

LinkWorth also allows you to buy text ads on other sites and has different types of advertising options. And as a publisher you can also provide a number of options for advertisers.

We have been with LinkWorth for a number of years and also run Google AdSense on most of our sites. Over the past few years the income from AdSense has decreased, but the LinkWorth income has increased and we are now exceeding the most we have ever made with AdSense on a monthly basis.

If you have a web site or a blog and are not not offering text ads on your site, you are missing out on a great additional revenue stream.

Youth Empowerment Center expands reach to cyberspace to offer teens a safe environment and support beyond the limitations of geography and time

San Diego, CA - September 20, 2006 - The Eugene Bowman Economic Empowerment Center announced today that it has created a new online message board/Internet forum for teens. Teens that register can access the forum 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and read messages, ask questions, discuss issues, and share information about things that are important to them, but that they may have trouble discussing with current friends or family. We want to reach out to kids who have access to computers, but may not be able to come to our youth center, said Lorraine Bowman, president of the EBEEC. Teens do not often get a sounding board for issues that affect them on a daily basis the goal of the forum is to provide one where feedback and advice is provided not only by peers, but also experienced staff as needed so that youth can benefit from those with age and experience beyond what they may receive on teen-only systems, or public forums were caring adult supervision may not always be available. The staff members do not police the forums, but monitor activity and step in when as needed to present a more rounded view of situations, or present other options that may not be suggested by other teens. The staff does constantly watch for any possible forum visitors that may not be who they seem and who communicate or act in an inappropriate manner.

The Government Gets Gaming Wrong

AS PROOF THAT VIDEO GAMES are rapidly penetrating every aspect of world culture, the Defense Department last month revealed to Congress that Islamic terrorists were using a modified video game--Battlefield 2--to recruit and train Jihadis.

Dan Devlin, a Defense Department public diplomacy specialist, told the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence that extremist groups are taking and modifying video games for an anti-U.S. slant. "What we have seen is that any video game that comes out... they'll modify it and change the game for their needs," Devlin said, according to press reports. Devlin's testimony included a video that showed clips from the purportedly terrorist-modified Battlefield 2 game.

Except, not really. A video game-focused political Web log, GamePolitics.com, quickly discovered that the video shown to Congress was created by a 25-year-old hospital administrator from Holland. The creator, who goes by the Internet handle "SonicJihad"--a tribute to an album produced by the controversial rapper Paris--said that the video is not connected to Islamic extremism in any way, and that he made the video to have a few laughs.

This fact would have been immediately apparent to anyone with a passing familiarity with either video games or youth culture. The video's voiceover, which begins, "I was only a boy when the infidels came to my village in their Blackhawk helicopters," is lifted from a comedic monologue in the movie "Team America: World Police." Any gamer familiar with the difference between mods--user-designed programs that alter the way a game is played--and machinima--short videos created using graphics and models from video games--would have known that the video shown to Congress was not a mod designed to recruit young terrorists, but a piece of run-of-the-mill, user-generated content. Simply Googling the video's file name would've turned up the Battlefield 2 community Web site where it was first posted--not exactly a hub of Islamic extremist activity.

Congress' ignorance about video games can be overlooked, since they have more important things to be ignorant about. Marketers are not afforded the same luxury. Just as our government can't hope to effectively oversee or regulate a medium that it fails utterly to understand, if marketers don't take the time and effort to suss the ins and outs of video games and their culture, they will end up looking like fools.

Leites Culinaria (www.leitesculinaria.com) won the 2006 James Beard Award for Best Web Site for Food, which was given out at the 16th Annual James Beard Foundation Journalism Awards on May 7th. This is first time the foundation has included a Web site in its roster of nomination categories.

David Leite, publisher and editor-in-chief, and Linda Avery, food editor, were present to accept the award. Its quite an honor, says Avery. All of our editors, recipe testers, and writers have worked tremendously hard, and were all very appreciative.

Leites Culinaria began in 1999, a time when the Internet had few quality food sites. Leite, a freelance food writer, wanted to create a cyber-portfolio that editors could visit in order to read his work. In no time, he began receiving e-mails from readers who found their way to the site based upon its content, which, at the time, dealt mostly with Portuguese cooking.

Frankly, I was shocked when people found me, says Leite of those early years. I had no idea that search engines spidered Web sites. I was planning to using it as a destination for editors, not for the general public. Within the year, Leite added other content, including recipes, resources, and columns. In 2000, Gary Allen, author of the "Resource Guide for Food Writers" (Routledge, 1999) and the upcoming "The Herbalist in the Kitchen" (University of Illinois Press) was tapped as food history editor.

Avery joined the site in 2003 as one of a dozen recipe testers. She quickly became recipe-testing coordinator and grew the section to almost 200 members. In 2004, she became food editor, and her responsibilities increased to include planning each months issue with Leite as well as determining which books and recipes to highlight.

Leite writes for the site and edits the work of contributing writers, a group which now encompasses established and up-and-coming writers. The combination of editors, writers, and the sites various offerings attracts approximately 1.3 million readers a year. To encourage new writers, Leite established The Leite's Culinaria Scholarship for Narrative Food Writing to the Symposium for Professional Food Writers at The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, WV. The first winner was Ana Schwartzman, whose work will appear on the site later in the year.

In addition to the winning the James Beard Award, Leites Culinaria won the 2005 World Food Media Award for Best Food and/or Drink Web Site, the 2002 Best Writers Web Site award from "Writers Digest Magazine," and was a finalist in the 2006 Gourmet Voice Awards. Also, work from the site has been included in the "Best Food Writing" series (Marlowe).

Jury Awards 70-Year-Old Tuan Pham $659,000 in Defamation Suit Closely Watched Nationally; Former South Vietnamese War Prisoner and St. Paul Community Leader Lost His Business and Honor over Baseless Charges

ST. PAUL, Minn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 23, 2006--A former South Vietnamese soldier who was imprisoned for more than two years after the Vietnam War (primarily for supporting the Catholic Church) and who was later appointed by President George W. Bush to St. Paul's Vietnamese Educational Foundation (VEF), won a $659,000 defamation case against seven defendants whom the jury unanimously agreed ruined his business and his reputation. Tuan J. Pham, 70 years-old, his wife Mai Vu and their University Avenue grocery, Capital Market, won the verdict Wednesday, March 22, 2006, in a rancorous controversy that divided the Twin Cities Vietnamese community and was hotly debated nationally on Vietnamese radio programs.

According to the Plaintiff's Statement of the Case's Claims and Defenses in Ramsey County Second Judicial District Court, the lawsuit arose from events that were triggered by a visit to St. Paul by a Catholic Bishop from Vietnam on December 17, 2003. During his visit to Minnesota, the Bishop was escorted by Pham, a devout Catholic, who served as the Bishop's driver as he visited various members of the Catholic and Vietnamese communities in St. Paul.

Falsehoods spread over South Vietnam Flag incident with visiting Vietnam Catholic Bishop

En route to a meeting of Vietnamese community members at the Vietnam Center in St. Paul, the Bishop noted the presence of the flag of the former Republic of Vietnam flag flying over the center. The Bishop told Pham that he wanted to be taken to a private residence because he was under orders from the Catholic Church to avoid political situations during his visit to the United States that could lead to trouble for the Catholic Church with the Communist government in Vietnam. Pham entered the Vietnam Center and informed the Executive Director of the Bishop's concern about the flag. A decision was made to lower the flag momentarily for the Bishop's visit. After the meeting, the flag was again momentarily lowered while the Bishop exited the building and raised it again after his departure.

Defendants and others begin labeling South Vietnamese patriot a Communist

Subsequently a number of the defendants in this matter learned of the fact that the flag had been lowered to permit the Bishop to enter the Vietnam Center. Beginning in December 2003, a number of people in the Vietnamese community raised concerns about the Republic flag being lowered for the Bishop and called for the removal of the leadership of the organization that controls the Vietnam Center. They also claimed "moral turpitude" on the part of Pham and called for his removal from the Vietnamese Educational Foundation. Defendants, including Dean Do, who had at one time married one of Pham's daughters and used the marriage and the daughter's mental illness, allegedly to extort money from Pham and Capital Market, began labeling Pham a communist and mounted a slanderous personal campaign against him.

"I feel relieved this matter is resolved after two years of suffering for me and my family. As an American, I have always believed in the laws of this country, and I had faith that the court would protect our rights," says Pham. "It is wrong to hurt people or ruin their business with false claims. My family has suffered severely because of these baseless attacks. We brought this case for our children and their children to help the Vietnamese community work within the American system. Our young people must know that you must respect other's right and that you can fight for your dignity and honor and the law will back you." Pham says if he collects the awarded damages he hopes to build two Buddhist schools and one Catholic school in his native land.

Immigrant communities put on notice

"Tuan Pham's landmark case will change the way the Vietnamese and other immigrant communities operate as they gain full access an acceptance in the general community. Flip Flopper In Chief, Qué Pasó Nena?
Well, you can't have a much more girlier man than one who can't live without grabbing at women's dress hems and silently screaming: "beat me, flog me, just don't leave me!" Imagine, this Flip, Flip Flopper In Chief is encircled by Dominatrices: His cold as a witch's tit mamma, his dark as Hades and evil as Hitler Condosleezza Rice, his enabler Harriet Miers, and his dumber but butcher'n hell Karen "Polyester Pantsuit but Inane" Hughes, who is dumber than the blind salamanders so famous in her back yard. And this is the Führer 59,054,087 U.S. Sans Brains, Ethics or Patriotism twice "elected" as president? Anyway, tonight some of the gang just had some little questions about the grand plans to have Karen Hughes solve the questions of the Middle East.

First, Karen, Tell Us Again, Where is the Middle East?
Oh, is that the place where women are dying to wear pants like yours and drive cars? Is that their dying passion, their only dream?

With all of the events of the recent 15 days, have you been hiding your derrière where Cheney hides his when things beyond your comprehension are occurring? If not, then how come you haven't been out there in the forefront explaining "the west" to the Middle East? Oh goodness, they didn't muzzle you, did they? Heck, gal, we're paying your salary, so you are accountable to us, not only the guy whose butt you spank.

A Day's Labor For a Day's Pay
Hey, Karen, are you giving us our money's worth? Big title you got there gal, are we gettin' what George thinks your worth?

Hey gal, explain to the U.S., just what is the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership, or the Barcelona Process? Whatcha doin' to make it work? Or, do you even know what it is and when it was implemented? There's no time to play with your kid in Austin right now gal, you gotta produce, sweetie pie.

Well, gal, you're not as overtly repulsive or as well-recognized as the Big Mamma of Torture as 'Sleezza' Rice is, but you're close. So, if you have any redeeming virtues, explain to your country, in twelve paragraphs or less for each item, since your fellow citizens are going to be requiring it of you, what the follow subjects/headlines concern:

So, Suburban-driving soccer-mom, the U.S. is holding you to account. What are the twelve-paragraph answers to these subjects? The country is waiting for your answers; if you can't answer, give up your lucrative paycheck and go back to your dumb, blind salamanders, who all look and act like your prez.

Dinner Gong! Sorry Karen
Enough for one night. Let's see if together we can get the Hughes gal to answer these questions to your and our satisfaction. If not, you know the next step to take up the chain of command, but for now, let's eat.

Charlotte prepared some Eggplant and Mozzarella on Mille Feuilles. Normally, Charlotte would make her own puff pastry, but ranching concerns forced her to use a source from which we, in a bind, get our already-prepared puff pastry, Taylor's Market, which you can access at www.taylorsmarket.com for overnight delivery of puff pastry on ice. She chose a very nice dry sparkling wine from Gruet in New Mexico. Excellent pairing, and as appetizer, it did prepare us for the dishes that were yet to come.

Marie Christine had once tried Chinese Chicken and Aspargus Soup in Paris, and attempted to replicate the recipe for us. Did she succeed? She's never failed. Her soup was glorious, and paired with an Hidalgo Pastrana Amontillado Sherry, transported us to that land we love to live in, that of the contented gourmet the people at the local feed shop love to laugh at. Food geeks indeed; just 'cause we don't chew tobacco and spit on the floor. Now really.

Charlotte and Beatrix put a lot of effort into their beautiful Seafood Terrine, plated with Grilled Artichokes with Lemon Oil Dip. They paired these dishes with a good Chenin Blanc from South Africa. Difficult preparation but simple plating: a wonderful treat for us.

Art and Max served us small dollops of Strawberry Mousse to prepare our palates for our next course, the meat course.

The bank of three Viking grills was going on the porch, and Art and Max teamed up to fix us a true delight, their Grilled Texas T-Bone Steaks, with grilled Onion Rings, Bell Peppers and Zucchini, with a side of garlicky mashed potatoes. They paired their masterpiece with an Australian shiraz, the excellent McPherson South-Eastern Australia shiraz.

Calming Down
Beatrix made superb Poached Pears with Crème Frâiche, one of our favorite desserts. We had ours with small snifters of Grand Marnier, thanked tonight's "chefs" and returned to the great room to spend some time with the teenagers while we sipped our after-dinner coffee Max prepared for us from his special brews. Then, we put on our jackets and headed for our respective farms and ranches, always aware of different chores still waiting because of the strange, unusual tricks the weather has been playing on us.

Summary
The British have officially labeled Dubya a splendiferous inept. We can only imagine what the rest of the world thinks of us, and him, and yet Dubya keeps sending equally superbly inept "envoys" out to win the hearts and minds of the Arab and Muslim worlds. We, and the Arab and Muslims, deserve better than just Bush's derrière kissers. World events are signaling events of dire importance; too much importance for the infamously xenophobic, Texas-centric Karen Hughes, or the always attitude-challenged, snide to the point of grotesqueness Condosleezza.
