My brother is based in Sydney and myself at moment in London, so seeing her 2 son's home after 3 years like a true Punjabi mother, my mum demonstarted all her love by making sure that we both are well fed. I dont understand one concept, the first thing my mum said when she saw us was "you 2 have grown so weak, have lost so much weight" and I wondered from where...seriously I am still trying to figure that out?? Well she made sure that we dont look weak anymore, man I love her for that.

Well we both didn't mind it honestly since firstly, hot home cooked food is quite a luxury, secondly not sure whether it was jet lag or what... I was suddenly had the feeling of hogging to her cooking. So all the control I had on my diet while I was here ( honestly wasn't helping much) was ignored and I was at my all time best...10 days of Punjabi food, Aloo paranthas, Karahi chicken, Daal Makhni, Aloo gobi and god knows what all... it felt like HEAVEN.

Now that I am back in London and the days of luxury are gone. It is back to cereal for breakfast, sandwich for lunch and pasta with my own cooked curry( quite a combination, one should give it a try Italian and Indian) for dinner or takeaway as an alternate. I am not a bad cook, its just that I hate eating alone by far cooking for myself is quite a lot of work... maybe thats one reason why my apetite was at its all time high while I was home. Now I miss all that, well till next trip home will have to either live with my own cooking or takeaways ... well the latter seems to be the more feasible option.

HDhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05776350285282114888noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17500932.post-1131467998125224762005-11-08T16:45:00.000-08:002005-11-08T08:39:58.140-08:00
Need a Break!!

Guess what I haven't had a free weekend for the last 4 weeks, and will not have one for the next 5 weeks. How about that??

Things have been going great, London is a amazing place to be something new is happening all the time, plus there is so much to do that one regrets not finding a weekend to chill and enjoy. It is the case with my whole team, we all live in London but sometimes do not see each other for days or even weeks.

We all committed to having a team day once every week, but haven't had one for almost 4 weeks now I believe I say for all of us WE ALL NEED A BREAK!!

Guess we will just have to wait, and hope we do find some time to take a break.

HDhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05776350285282114888noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17500932.post-1130175304385379602005-10-24T10:10:00.000-07:002005-10-24T10:35:45.160-07:00
"Lord of War"

Thats the name of a movie I saw this weekend...very interesting movie!!
A very sadistic but a so very true film I have seen in a long time, it makes you think on things like how to a few people war is the most profitable business and to what extent can they go to make sure that their business is always profitable.

Nicholas Cage, through out the movie understands that what he is doing is so bloody wrong but he saves himself from getting involved in it by saying "Its not our war". Countries like US, UK, Russia, France and China the 5 permanent members of the UN security council are the biggest producers and exporters of arms and nuclear weapons in the world...and yet these are the countries which are the champions of the war again terrorism, talks for peace when the very people dying in civil wars in Africa, south east Asia, Middle east or South America are killed by a weapon produced in their factories...I wonder how that works out?? The defence budget of US, is larger than most of the African countries put together...every day there are thousands of children dying in Africa coz they do not have access to food, while the youth of Africa are dying of AIDS and the rest of disease if not prolonged civil wars.

I will not say I enjoyed the movie, but what I saw was the truth and it hurts!!

HDhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05776350285282114888noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17500932.post-1128601922053247882005-10-06T13:35:00.000-07:002005-10-24T10:37:05.000-07:00
Let's celebrate a New India!

Well this is a small story my brother sent to me, makes me feel more proud of being a Indian.

"In the middle of 1965 India-Pakistan war, US govt - then a close friend of Pakistan - threatened India with stopping food-aid. For a food deficient India this threat was serious and humiliating. So much so that in the middle of war, Prime Minister (Late)Lal Bahadur Shastri went to Ram Leela Grounds in Delhi and appealed to each Indian to observe one-meal-fast every week to answer the American threat. As a school boy, I joined those millions who responded to Shastriji's call. I continued the fast even when the war was over and India became self sufficient in food (Hail the Green Revolution). Hurt deep by the national humiliation suffered at the hands of the US govt, I had vowed to stop my weekly fast only when India starts giving aid to USA and it took just 40 years. Last week THE day arrived. When Indian ambassador inWashington DC handed over a cheque of US$ 50 million to the US govt, two plane loads of food, medical aid and other relief materials were waiting to fly to the USA. Time to break the fast? With no bad feeling about the USA, and good wishes for the Katrina victims, this humble Indian feels proud of the distance India has covered in 40 years."

Dean, Indian Institute of Technology-Chennai

HDhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05776350285282114888noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17500932.post-1128532483690161852005-10-05T18:20:00.000-07:002005-10-05T10:14:43.693-07:00Blogging Again!!Lost and found...well that has been the case with my Blog.
