The weekend of May 17 and 18 is a special one so start planning a short trip to Gatlinburg Tennessee. On this special weekend, Gatlinburg is hosting its 4th annual Fine Arts Festival. The Gatlinburg Fine Arts Festival is oriented for families and it features top artists from around the country. The Gatlinburg Fine Arts Festival is produced by volunteers from around the community. This annual festival is hosted to benefit the Sevier County Arts Council and the Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts. Gatlinburg TN will be hosting it’s 27th annual Scottish Festival and Games this year. The festivities will take place on May 16th and last till May 18th at the Mills Park in Gatlinburg Tennessee. The Gatlinburg Scottish Festival and Games is a non-profit organization, that the state of Tennessee puts on yearly. This year the organization will be hosting twenty six games. The Gatlinburg community sets the celebration off with a mountain stroll and then with a parade down the parkway in downtown Gatlinburg TN. The event is an open invitation to all Scots. After the parade be sure to attend the Gala reception at 8:00 at the Ramada Inn. Both Saturday and Sunday events include; a all day Ceilidh (Scottish music Festival), athletics, a heritage seminar, bag pipe performances and competitions along with a dance competitions. Colin Grants - Adams, Lona and the Celtic group, local Scottish and Celtic musicians from all around the area will be performing in the Lowland Ceilidh Tent. Take time to stop by the tent to listen to the traditional pipes and bags. Be sure to bring the kids along with you! There are tons of activities for the kids to enjoy. They will enjoy the newly added “kids kastle”. Not only is the Scottish Festival for the Scottish community, but the public is more than welcome to participate in the festivities.

The Clan Challenge Highland athletic competition will be held on Saturday. Games include wrestling, manhood stones and kilted miles. The festival will teach you all about the Scottish traditions and their heritage. There will be plenty of vendors there with a variety of Scottish items like clothing, jewelry, music and food. More than 60 clans will be attending this years Scottish Festival and Games.

The parade on Sunday features all clans represented at the festival. Each clan will march with their banners symbolic of their clan society. The festival will end with “Ceilidh Under the Stars”, beginning at 8:00 p.m. This last Scottish celebration will include all entertainers from the day events. The night will be filled with music, exciting events, and fellowship. A one day pass for Saturday/Sunday is $15.00, two day passes are - $20.00. Children 12 and under are free.

This year the 58th Annual Spring Wildflower Pilgrimage is April 23-27, 2008. This 5 day Pilgrimage celebrates the beauty of wildlife with a large array of wildflower’s. Take walks, go on motorcades, do art classes, take seminars or take photos while doing a tour. Come to Gatlinburg TN to see all the beautiful wildflowers as they grow in the protected wildlife habitat. Most all the programs take place outside at the Smoky Mountain National Park. The programs you have options of taking are morning, afternoon, evening or all day. They are all at different times and locations and all have different walking distance, trail difficulty and registration limits. There are indoor programs that will be held at the W.L. Mills Conference Center located in downtown Gatlinburg. You can sign up in advance for all these exciting programs or you can wait until you get to Gatlinburg to decide if you really want to go. On site registration will be held at the W.L. Mill Conference Center. Just like every year before in Gatlinburg Tennessee, Spring is in the air and Gatlinburg is about to shake off the frost from winter. There will be demonstrations, lectures and hikes to see all the flowers, plants, scenery and animals that can be found at the Smoky Mountain National Park.

Aside from those events, Gatlinburg is holding it’s 6th Annual Springfest. Springfest is a 3 month long event that highlights the Spring with colorful flowers along the Parkway. Hollywood Wax Museum

The Hollywood Wax Museum opened in 1966 in Hollywood California. Now there are three locations, one in Hollywood, one in Branson, and one in Gatlinburg Tennessee. At every one of the locations you can expect to find life-size wax replicas of your favorite stars. You may see anyone from Julia Roberts to Harrison Ford. You will be blown away at how much these wax replicas look like the Hollywood stars. The Hollywood Wax Museum only has exhibits of the most famous people in Hollywood and this is why thousands of people from around the world come to see these amazing replicas. These wax replicas are very complex. It takes up to three months just to complete one beautiful sculpture. In order for these wax replicas to be perfect, sculptors use real pictures to define the exact shapes of the wax replicas. It takes about 56,000 bees just to make enough wax to make the head of the sculpture. The sculptor makes the body by looking at the still pictures in the exact pose that the sculptor is building. The making of these wax replicas is a very hard and complex job. The last thing that anyone would want to consider when renting one of our Gatlinburg cabins is what to do during an emergency event. At any other time of the year, emergency phone calls made to our reservation office are no big deal. During holiday seasons, the handling of emergency events for Cabins For You has a slightly different protocol. What we all must remember, is that Christmas, thanksgiving, and 4th of July are holidays and special times for our workers as well.

Unfortunately, while renting one of our Gatlinburg cabins, not all unplanned circumstances are emergencies. While we at Cabins For You strive to improve that quality of our customers stay, we still must keep our workers interest at hand. If there is an emergency during a major holiday we will still answer emergency phone calls and provide services if they are true emergencies. For instance, these emergencies include: Broken water pipes, frozen water pipes or no running water, no heat, stove or refrigerator not working. If there is any life threatening emergency, call 911 immediately. Things that are not emergencies include: Hot tub not heating, broken microwave, remote control not working, light bulbs missing, cable not working, etc… Despite how hard we try to prevent power outages, this is one circumstance (emergency) that we have no control over. We understand how disappointing this event might be, but we are at the mercy of the power companies in Gatlinburg TN. We will however call the power company for you if this unfortunate event happens during your stay.

During the Holiday season, we ask that we all (including Cabins For You) stay understanding and forgiving because things break and malfunction. What we can promise, is that if you have an emergency, we will do our best to fix or rectify the situation regardless of time or day.

Thanksgiving is right around the corner. Don’t you think that you should rent one of our Gatlinburg cabins for Thanksgiving? The mountains and trees of Gatlinburg TN have never looked better. Although fall was a little late this year, Gatlinburg still looks unbelievable. You should celebrate this time of year with your family in the mountains of Gatlinburg? Leaves are almost done changing colors and the vibrant reds, oranges and yellows make it hard to take your eyes of the landscape of the mountains. The weather is perfect. It’s chilly outside but not freezing. There’s no other time of the year more perfect than now to pack up your family and head to one of our Gatlinburg cabins for a relaxing vacation. Stroll through downtown Gatlinburg, go to an amusement park, do a family activity…anywhere you go there’s always a friendly face.

During the days you and your loved ones can go on a hike through the mountains. That’s an amazing and beautiful experience. It’s October already and you know what that means. Yes, Halloween is here again. It’s time for spine chilling, hair raising fright! If you happen to be in Gatlinburg Tennessee and are in the mood for a scare this Halloween, you could visit the “Carnival of Screams”. Carnival of Screams is just one part of “Fright Nights” at Ripley’s Haunted Adventure. Carnival of Screams is open every weekend in October and also runs non-stop from October 29th through November 3rd for the purpose of Halloween. The carnival of Screams is one of the most requested shows during Fright Nights and is guaranteed to leave you breathless. At Ripley’s Haunted Adventure there are rooms that are all themed differently with terrifying sights and scenes. Ripley’s also hires actors to perform frightening deeds upon those who seek to be scared and they do a very good job at performing. These actors perform very well and you will leave terrified. The shows always have a specific frightening theme and this year is a tribute to the first year of Ripley’s Haunted Adventure. The show usually takes about twenty to thirty minutes for one group to pass through. This run through of the show included a ride to the third floor on an incline elevator. If you tend to be very scared of someone or something being too close to you, be reassured that no living thing will touch you. You can begin being scared to death at 6:13 p.m. when the show starts. Ticket prices are $12.95 for people ages 12 and older. Students that attend University of Tennessee pay only $6.99 for their ticket when they present their UT ID.

Fall Takes Over

Gatlinburg TN - Fall is almost fully under way in Gatlinburg, and because of this there is no better place to vacation. The tops of the trees are starting to turn yellow and orange and you can almost feel the crisp fall breeze that all you travelers have come to love. Although there is slightly higher temperatures than normal, fall will be in full swing within the next few weeks. Whether it is good or bad, full fall foliage is a little later this year. It will probably be in full swing by late October or early November.

Maybe because of more work or the extreme drought conditions in the southeast, but there seems to be a heavier rush on renting cabins this October over the past few. Most vacationers are calling earlier and the Gatlinburg cabins are booking faster. In fact, for most of our cabins, the weekend dates are almost gone. Not sure I could put a finger on it if I had too, but I think everyone just needs a vacation in Gatlinburg this October and November.

Fall color in Gatlinburg Tennessee is the best time of the year. All the reds, yellows, greens, and browns in the foliage of the Smoky Mountains makes a perfect setting for a vacation to Gatlinburg TN. Starting in about October and continuing through early December the leaves of all the shrubs and trees start changing colors to make a magnificent collage. If we had to guess, we would say that the peak time for seeing fall color in Gatlinburg TN is mid November. Although it depends some on the first frost, mid November is the ideal time for seeing the height of fall color.

If you are interested in vacationing to Gatlinburg during fall color season, you might want to consider renting a cabin as soon as possible. Although there is a building influx of Gatlinburg cabin rentals which might make it appear easier to book last minute, this is not the case during certain parts of the year. Besides the summer time, the next most visited time to Gatlinburg is during fall color. Despite the large number of cabins in Gatlinburg, the demand for cabins seems to out way the supply of cabins.
