The only other thing I can suggest is that you write to Aena (the Spanish Airport Authority) and lodge a complaint. You can email their complaints/customer services department on servicios-aeroportuarios@aena.es

Linda

Dear Gary,

I am from Kuala lumpur, Malaysia. On 6th September 2008 I had the misfortune of having to board an Iberia Airlines flight XG 1050 from Valencia to Rome, FCO. My luggage did not arrive and has been missing since then. I was in Rome and Paris for a short tour but without anything to my name… and did not receive any assistance even after filing for a claim and obtaining a file no. I did what most did-called all the numbers, checked online numerous times but to no avail.

I would like to seek your kind advise as to what I should do next as I do not want Iberia to be let off scott free for this inconveniences and grievances they have caused me. I arrived in KL yesterday morning with a whole new suitcase and personal effects. No news, no apologies and no feedback from Iberia. Although my travel agent booked the flight with click air…who is to be held responsible? I was in Spain for official work and was part of a government delegation and have since written an email to the Spanish embassy in Malaysia to assist me with my luggage. But is there more I can do from back here in Malaysia?

Thanking you in advance for your kind help.

Cheers,

Gladys

Lindahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03537512691794926457spanishairportguide@gmail.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17215798.post-61613344621644585152008-09-23T16:39:00.002+02:002009-03-18T16:46:58.600+01:00Bar/restaurant opening hours at Alicante AirportHi Linda

Thanks very much for the quick reply, I feel so much better now:)

Mandy

Hi Mandy,

Cafe Medas in the departures lounge is open 24 hours a day and you can get a drink there. I moved from England to a small Spanish village just outside Orihuela Spain in August 07 and have spent the last 12 months learning the Spanish language. I have been mixing with the local people and attending private lessons. I feel I am ready to look for employment as I can converse well, although I am still attending lessons I feel I still have things to learn. I believe I would now benefit from working in a Spanish environment not forgetting I am fluent in English. I will be 18 in April 08. I would be interested in any form of work at Alicante airport as it is only a 30 minutes drive from where I live.

Hope to hear from you soon

Laura Buckfield

Lindahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03537512691794926457spanishairportguide@gmail.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17215798.post-91787314962326887502008-09-23T16:28:00.001+02:002008-09-23T16:29:55.103+02:00Checking luggage through from Almeria to Sydney via Madrid and FrankfurtHi Jenny,

You need to check with the airline which you start off with in Almeria to see whether they can check you luggage right though (but I suspect they will not be able to as several different airlines are involved). The boarding gates for flights can change up to two hours before the flight is called so I'm afraid I cannot give you directions from Las Palmas arrivals to Johannesburg departures as I do not know which gates (or floors) they will be operating from, and the map that Aena (the Spanish Airport Authority) supply of Madrid Barajas will be of no help to you at all.

All I can do is to link you to an article I have written on Madrid Airport Departures which gives you information on the various departure zones in each terminal.

Linda

Dear Gary,
I am planning to travel las PALMAS - MADRID and then connect with MADRID - JOHANNESBURG, both flights with Iberia.
I have been thru Barajas before, but it is a complete and utter mystery to me. Last time I was with My son and partner and we eventaully made the transfer, but even they (at 34 and 32 years) had greatr difficulty. This time I will be travelling alone.
Could you please give me clear and simple instructions how to get from the arrival point from Las< Palmas< to the boarding gate for the Johannesburg flight. I really am quite intelligent (he says!) b ut up tonow Barajas has totally confused me.
Your help will be appreciated.

Yours sincerely,

Rex Mirfin

Lindahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03537512691794926457spanishairportguide@gmail.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17215798.post-10835008879948619072008-09-10T15:23:00.001+02:002008-10-03T11:27:57.051+02:00Lost glasses at Palma AirportDear Gary,
I lost my glasses on a recent journey to Mallorca. Their normal hours of operation are Monday-Sunday 07:00-23:00

If you are not happy with what they offer if it worth getting an online quote with a company called Cartrawler who hold a central database of car hire companies at Menorca Airport which they will match your requirements against and come up with a competitive quote.

Linda

Hello Gary,

I am hoping you will be able to help me …… my boyfriend and I will be flying to Menorca on Monday 15th Sept on an easyjet flight from LGW that is due in at 21.45. I have found a good car hire deal with Hertz on the internet but as I understand it, hertz closes at 23.00 and I am worried that if the flight is delayed, we will not arrive in time to collect our car?

Are you able to confirm what would happen in that circumstance or advise of a company within the airport that stays open for longer that would be a safer option?

Thank you very much in advance Gary!

Kind regards,

Katie

Lindahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03537512691794926457spanishairportguide@gmail.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17215798.post-69728008680804524752008-09-10T15:17:00.001+02:002008-09-10T15:17:31.155+02:00Buses from Reus to BarcelonaHi Becky,

Bad news I'm afraid, the 22.00 bus is the only public transport connection from Reus to Barcelona on Sunday 21st. The last train leaves the Renfe station in Reus city centre at 21.18 so that's even more useless than the bus. It's a 110km journey so a taxi or private transfer will cost a fortune.

The best thing is for you to check with Ryanair on whether or not the bus waits for passengers on the Birmingham flight, but if you suffer any delay you are completely stuck. Afraid the best suggestion I can make is that you fly out a day earlier and stay in Reus overnight and make your way to Barcelona the following morning ... sorry! Or you can hire a car from Reus Airport and drop it off at Barcelona Sants Railway Station.

Linda

Hi Gary,

I really need some help here! I'm flying to Reus on the 21st of September (a Sunday) from Birmingham, with Ryanair. The flight lands at 21.45pm. I need to at least manage to get into Barcelona Sants that night as I am starting a new job at 9am the next morning!

I've checked the Reus to Barcelona bus timetables, but I'm alarmed that the timetable lists departure for the people arriving on the Birmingham flight at 10pm! That gives me fifteen minutes to get off the plane, through security, pick up my baggage and get on the bus! Is this just an approximate time? Do they allow for the fact that people have to pick up their luggage, etc?

If not, is there any alternative means of getting to Barcelona after 10pm on a Sunday night?

Thank you,

Becky

Lindahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03537512691794926457spanishairportguide@gmail.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17215798.post-7662526660086770282008-09-10T15:15:00.001+02:002008-09-10T15:16:46.695+02:00Getting from Malaga to Jerez by bus or trainHi Brit,

The only direct public transport from Malaga to Jerez is a bus - but there is only one a day as you will see from this timetable.
