R&B Live DC Featuring Case

It's been a minute since we've heard anything (at all) from R&B singer Case. Still, he's coming out to give us a rare performance at R&B Live, a showcase that for two months has given us great performances by Floetry's Marsha Ambrosius and Howard Hewitt.

Case recently signed to Sire Records and is anticipating his latest album release The Rose Experience.

I'm excited to see what Case has in store for us this year. Calling all R&B lovers!! Head to Posh Supper Club (730 11th St. NW) tomorrow night. Doors open at 8 PM and there is a $15 drink minimum.

DeAngelo Hall Celebrates His 25th in DC

A DMV native, DeAngelo Hall recently signed a one-year contract with the Redskins, which caused a little stir in the District. No matter the rumors of his nasty attitude or deadly pitbulls, DeAngelo will be celebrating his 25th birthday in the District.

Spotted: Richard Parsons at GWU

Dick Parsons, chairman of Time Warner and a member of Obama's economic advisory team, was in DC last Saturday being interviewed for the HistoryMakers project. A project that has collected African-American biographies around the world. He was interviewed by CNN's Soledad O'Brien.

Tonight, starting at 7 PM, head to House of Sweden (2900 K Street, NW) for "the art beyond the apron" at Avant-Grande™ 2008. It's an exhibition of art and spoken word created by Starbucks baristas and will feature over 40 works of original visual art as well as Spoken Word performances by aspiring artists.

With hor d'oeuvres and cocktails, this event will benefit SOL y SOUL, Arts for Social Change, a non-profit organization aimed to support, create and inspire artists. Tickets are $20. For tickets and information, call 202.725.4100.

Redskins v. Cowboys!!

It seems like everybody has either football fever (I'm a basketball girl myself) but today is a tight game with the Redskins playing the Cowboys. I swear there are more Cowboys fans in DC than Redskins fans (lol). Still, if you're like me and like to watch sports with tens of other screaming fans, head to these hot spots (especially on this cold day!!!):

Tonight head to Current (1215 Connecticut Ave. NW) starting at 8 PM. Enjoy their sushi (I didn't like it but whatevs) and cocktails. The Redskins won't be in the building but I hear Antawn Jamison and Mike Beasley will...(GROUPIE ALERT!) Email this guy or these guys to get in free before 11.

You can also watch the same game at The Park (920 14th Street NW). The party goes until 3 AM. And I'm a little confused but I'll let y'all figure it out: The Park is also celebrating Mike Beasley's coming home party with Caron Butler and Dwayne Wade (GROUPIE ALERT!).

DC Can't Take Obama's Inauguration

Word on the street is that Obama's inaguration in January is expected to draw over 1 million people to the District. We already know how bad parking is on the weekend in D.C., let alone on a day when the first black President gets sworn into office.

If you're like me and live anywhere close to D.C. I'm sure you've already had people asking can they stay over. I think my house is going to resemble those overnight parties I used to have in high school (ohh...good memories!).

The National Park Service plans to clear more viewing space along the Pennsylvania Avenue parade route and jumbo TV screens will line the Mall so people can watch the inauguration and parade.

Many congressmen and women have already stopped taking requests for free tickets. If you're attempting to buy tickets, don't expect to find them on eBay, StubHub or Kijiji. Those sites will not allow tickets to the inauguration to be sold, which is kind of illegal.

Good luck if you're planning on coming in from outta town and no you can't stay with me! :)

Friday Night Hotspots

A great cause that's dear to my heart. Y'all remember the Coat Drive I did last year and this great organization is doing something similar: Stussy Share the Warmth is a charity partnership between Stussy DC and OneWarmCoat.org bringing warmth to those in need. For the next week (Nov. 14 - 21) Stussy DC will be accepting gently used coats for donation. Anyone who donates a coat will also receive a complimentary 15% off a new Stussy coat.

The drive begins tonight at Stussy DC (1781 Florida Ave. NW) with music, drinks and hors d’euvres will be provided. The party starts at 8 PM.

Love (1350 Okie Street NW) is celebrating it's 7-year anniversary. No word yet if any celebrities will be in the building.

The former mayor of DC, Anthony Williams was minding his business walking on K Street when a UPS delivery man was getting robbed!

All of a sudden, the 57 year-old former mayor sprang into action running after the robber! When Tony caught up to him, the robber recognized Tony's bowtie and said, "You used to be the mayor," and handed the stolen goods back to him.

Now that's what I call community action! :) (and it's pretty fab too!) You go boy!!!

Lipski defended himself saying he's an alcoholic (no, really?!) who had a little lapse while in DC.
