Malibu Pro Team Challenge Wakeboard Event | Aug. 16-17

We are excited to announce that evo will be sponsoring the Malibu Pro Team Challenge taking place in our own back yard on August 16-17!!!

EATONVILLE, WA. – With $25,000 on the line, the 2nd Annual Malibu Pro Team Challenge will be offering one of the biggest single event purses in the sport. The three part competition - boat pass, rail jam and double-up contest - will feature some of the top pro riders in the world riding for their prospective board manufacturers, a shot at the “winning-team-take-all” prize and bragging rights as the best team in wakeboarding for the next 12 months.

Based in Breckenridge, CO - Mark's work has been hitting it in the skateboard scene. Come on down, grab a drink and celebrate another evening of art and community!

Please note that evo will be closing early on Thursday July 31st. Both our Fremont store and online operations, including the phones, will shut down at 3pm to allow employees to attend the memorial service of a member of the evo family.

As some of you know, Christine Koller (softgoods buyer) passed away Thursday July 17th after a 3 month battle with PML. It was a sudden and tragic loss of such a beautiful person who touched the lives of so many people, from Austria to Lake Tahoe, to here in Seattle. Christine was a unique individual full of life and energy - an energy that continues on with those who love her. Although she was taken far too soon, Christine lived her life to the fullest and the grief of her loss is a testament to how many of us cared about her.

Snoop Dogg is stopping at the Showbox June 18th as part of his West Fest tour. Swing by evo now through Friday, June 14 and we'll enter your name in the drawing for a pair of tickets when you purchase anything in the store. We initially tossed around the idea of a Gin and Juice drinking contest, but in the end had to throw it out. Things would have gotten messy.

Almost as exciting as the concert itself, is the Dog & Dogg BBQ we're putting on this Saturday, June 14th, from 3-5. Snoop Dogg won't be there, but we'll be cooking up hot dogs all afternoon and will be announcing the winner of the tickets. You don't have to be there in order to win, but it would be way more fun if you were. Just imagine if the Doggfather really were at our BBQ, standing at the grill in a fur coat or his crisp, all-white suit, next to our shop manager Chris, in his "Kiss the Cook" apron. Maybe he'd even let Chris call him Calvin...

Smith sales rep Erin Eugster invited evo employees to a luncheon utilizing the timing of the Smith limo being in town. The Limo, with a HUGE RAIL down the center of it, is being used for events all over the country.

Employees from Customer Service, the store, eCommerece and the buying department all hopped in the limo bound for the Magnolia Marina Maggie Bluffs Marina Grill for some serious Fish Tacos.

"Hunting Yeti: Webisode 1" Premeire Event - Friday, February 15th

The all star crew that brought you IDEA (Eric Pollard, Pep Fujas, Andy Mahre and Chris Benchetler) is making a new ski film "Hunting Yeti" with their newly created production company: Nimbus Independent.

This season Nimbus changes how skiers view videos by releasing five short webisodes and one feature film. Each webisode will be accompanied by a release event at evo in Seattle as well as other core shops around the country. The full feature DVD will be available in Fall 2008.

Come to the world premier of "Hunting Yeti: Webisode 1" at evo this Friday, February 15th at 8:00pm to be one of the first to witness the amazing ski talents of the Nimbus crew. We’re especially excited because this webisode features evo's own Bryce Phillips!

Russ Pope will be joining us this Sunday night, February 3, in our TIMESINFINITY Gallery to kickoff February's showing. Hope I don't fan out on the guy! He's been instrumental in skateboarding's culture over the past 20 years... -Eric B.

The rawness of his work can be felt by viewing the large brush strokes, thick lines and drippy backgrounds of many pieces.
