tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1702158064458024124.post-34986256891522048072007-05-05T13:45:00.000-07:002007-05-05T13:55:20.558-07:00Bonobos and Chimpanzees can 'speak' using gestures<a href="http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn11756">New Scientist</a> is reporting that researchers at Yerkes National Primate Research Center in Atlanta, Georgia, US have noticed a vocabulary of 31 gestures and 18 facial and vocal symbols used by apes - where meanings differ based on what context is used.<br /><br />It should be noted that <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Animal_language#Comparison_of_the_term_with_.22animal_communication.22">a lot of animals communicate</a> using gestures and symbols but only humans are known to have different meanings of the same symbol based on the context.<br /><br />Oh !!
