There are a lot of great places to visit in Argentina but most are far away and would require more time. Buenos Aires is the place to land and start to make plans, consider options thinks about where to go, make choices and decisions.
There is a lot of very good suggestions for you on translated local websites, this blog , a real Buenos Aires Blog is one of this, our blog running on #WP is other option in Spanish and our Tumblelog is 95 % Buenos Aires photography, in French the Routard. Lonely Planet, Footprint are options in English, or just in the front desk of the Hostel Colonial that present lots and lots of information which you could get the fixtures for your trip and how to book tickets to different points, for example a day trip close by or you just could also go to Tigre (by boat or by coastal train), the Delta of Tigre is really nice and is about 1 hour on the train to the North. Maybe a little jump on a day trip to Colonia, Uruguay, (maybe even 2-day to Montevideo),
Colonia is a World Heritage Site and well worth half a day to see it. Or maybe even better if you haven't been there, a trip to Iguazú Falls.
Another option is to go to a typical “estancia” for a day or weekend and do some horseback riding there and enjoying a good Argentinean “asado” (charcoal grill cooked meat). There are some good ones in San Antonio de Areco.
Social aspects
The Buenos Aires winter may not be as frigid as in many other countries, but the way the “Porteños” (the citizens of Buenos Aires) complain, one would think they were in the Arctic Circle. The “queja” or the complaint, in Buenos Aires also a Buenos Aires hallmark. In winter, the queja is extreme, while the weather might not be — which also introduces the queja’s best friend: exaggeration. Is mix with sense of humor that gives a fun peek into the daily life.
You will also heard that quite often there are big international bands tours coming to the city- rock/pop/whatever, who come to Buenos Aires will be able to find anything like some very local sounding bands and Tango. Talking about parties nothing change every day goes on in different areas of Buenos Aires, the Federal District, the “Porteños” in winter are more likely for parties and being among others in closed buildings.
While you could doubt for a moment for a simple luck of knowledge having a spare time and lodging in a Buenos Aires Hostel named Colonial for vacation you will exhaust the delights of Buenos Aires.

http://hostelbuenosaires.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default?alt=rss http://rpc.technorati.com/rpc/ping http://hostelbuenosaires.blogspot.com/path-to-blog/atom.php http://hostelbuenosaires.blogspot.com/atom.xml http://hostelbuenosaires.blogspot.com/rss.xml http://www.downes.ca/cgi-bin/xml/feeds.cgi http://www.daypop.com/info/submit.htm http://feeds.feedburner.com/blogspot/CZLa http://sitemap.xmlecho.org/home/hostelcolonial/sitemap/sitemap.xml
Jorge Ferrarihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13808232453673256895blogspot@hostelcolonial.com.ar0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17014146.post-23238342060805832792009-06-28T13:10:00.001-03:002009-06-28T13:10:02.066-03:00HOSTEL COLONIAL BUENOS AIRES - "PORTENO" ART & CULTURE - THE KLEMM´S FOUNDATION
We invite you to visit and appreciate Argentine arts and culture.

Ya lo saben, se vienen cantidad de beneficios en <span Argentina (five blocks walking from Hostel Colonial), is one of the world's major opera houses. Opened in 1908 after twenty years under construction. The auditorium is horseshoe-shaped, has 2,487 seats (slightly more than, say, the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, London, England), standing room for 1,000 and a stage which is 20 m wide, 15 m high and 20 m deep[2]. The acoustics are considered one of the best five acoustics in opera in the world.
For many years Argentina was a prosperous country with a booming economy, and the Teatro Colón was visited by the foremost singers and opera companies of the time, who would sometimes go on to other cities including Montevideo, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.
The cornerstone of the present Teatro Colón was laid in 1889 under the direction of architect Francesco Tamburini, who designed a theatre in the Italian style on a scale and with amenities which matched those in Europe.
However, delays followed due to financial difficulties, arguments. The building was finally completed in 1908 under the direction of the Belgian architect Julio Dormal who made some changes in the structure and left his mark in the French style of the decoration.
The theatre opened on May 25th. (1908), Patriotic Day in Argentina, with a performance of Verdi's Aida and it quickly became a world-famous operatic venue rivaling La Scala and the Metropolitan Opera in attracting the best opera singers and conductors.

The theatre was closed for refurbishment at the end of October 2006, with plans to reopen in 2010 (Bicentennial Year in Argentina).

Nesta zona destaque para a Calle Florida (1 bloco do Hostel Colonial), coração do centro financeiro, onde existem bons restaurantes, livrarias (El Ateneo), cinemas, cafés e pastelarias (Confeitaria Richmond).

Too many things to see and admire. Buenos Aires, a city of contrasts, a city of extremes. The good, the bad. The beautiful, the ugly. Trends, cool things and bizarre things. Feelings, love, madness, joy, anger, the best and the worst of beings who wander through a big city.
Buenos Aires as I can tell. Buenos Aires depicted in hundreds of images. The vision goes beyond the doors of Hostel Colonial. The tour has 12 stops from Florida St., north to the May Square, in corner with Roque Sáenz Peña Ave.(only 5 blocks walking from Hostel Colonial) to Lavalle Square, through La Boca, Recoleta and Italy Square, Scott and Denise are for the first time in Buenos Aires and for something more the u$s 7 they can stroll through the most colorful sides of the city.

On the bus you begin the tour starting in May Square location of the country public headquarters authorities and demonstrations passing through the building at the government, a building of an academic style, while the tourists draw their maps and trying to locate each point and used to take some photos.

The tour lasts approximately 3 hours if no picket or demonstration stops it, a Brazilian tourist who had just bought a genuine Argentine leather jacket in Florida St. this morning asked if this opened the Wax Museum in La Boca and says Brazilian tourists in Porto Alegre. “We have the same system bus tour”. Every 30 minutes the bus makes a stop and the prices and weather are good to take a wonder to the city, they say”, thus taking safety as a first priority so is therefore Brazilian tourists who choose not to take with him to avoid attentions, so out the rings and watches to make a relax walk around the city.
The trip include flyers for preventing swine flu from other, tour operators and more. An argentine citizen (from Córdoba) despite is argentine is at the first time as visitor as many others in Buenos Aires each one with different motives make a space in time for a journey through the city in one of the yellow buses to encounter a very noisy environment.

Bordering the May Square headphones insist that the 12 columns in the Metropolitan Cathedral represent the 12 apostles and on the left we see the flame of Argentina, the next destination will be the Congress because as mentioned them before after that is where the city displays the mythical marches. The route continues over the audio guiding and talking by referring to what the tour offers, but the noise and typical protest in the Buenos Aires streets gets the real attention in the passengers. They say: - “Street protests do not scare us at home are not so many marches, said another tourist, while the tour continues to La Boca”.
According to the latest report of the Buenos Aires Tourism Secretary, the 12.8% are tourists from inside the country, 36% and a little more reach here for family issues and spend an average of u$s 67 per day, but as foreigners spends reach over u$s 140 per day that´s a clear advantage for them is the exchange rate became Buenos Airess a convenient city said with a smile inexpensive places preferred by tourists are Florida St.(one block walking from Hostel Colonial), Palermo and Puerto Madero. The Bus has an assistant who accompanies and explain the trip during the tour, cause in these areas are the restaurants, hotels, and shops that sell leather garments, which are what tourist look for as a souvenir, he explain. "You drive the navy (bus)?".

El blog de Hostel On the facade, there is a venetian-mosaic- figure of the Holly Trinity made in St. Petersburg.
Personal conclusion is that going to the East of Europe is still one of my goals for this year and this maybe is a glimpse of what is coming.

http://hostelbuenosaires.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default?alt=rss http://rpc.technorati.com/rpc/ping http://hostelbuenosaires.blogspot.com/path-to-blog/atom.php http://hostelbuenosaires.blogspot.com/atom.xml http://hostelbuenosaires.blogspot.com/rss.xml http://www.downes.ca/cgi-bin/xml/feeds.cgi http://www.daypop.com/info/submit.htm http://feeds.feedburner.com/blogspot/CZLa http://sitemap.xmlecho.org/home/hostelcolonial/sitemap/sitemap.xml
Jorge Ferrarihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13808232453673256895blogspot@hostelcolonial.com.ar0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17014146.post-4096098277372749602009-06-04T08:00:00.000-03:002009-06-04T08:00:02.293-03:00HOSTEL COLONIAL - # 10 BUENOS AIRES NEIGHBORHOODS IN # 10 AMAZING POSTCARDS
All images are published in the Hostel Colonial tumblelog, impressive postcards of Buenos Aires neighborhoods, view each image and enjoy Buenos Aires as I do.

Florida St. at night - Photo # 1 one block walking from Hostel Colonial

Puerto Madero - Photo # 2 four blocks walking from Hostel Colonial

Montserrat - Photo # 3

Abasto - Photo # 4

Constitución Railway Station - Photo # 5

Barracas - Photo # 6

Plaza de Mayo Square &
