The dual format HD player; the middle ground in the HD war

The battle still rages in the HD DVD/Blu-ray player war and while it is far from over, the best bet for the consumer is the LG BH100. The BH100 will play both the HD DVD & the Blu-ray formats including standard formats such as DVD-Video, DVD-R &amp; DVD-RW, and DVD+R & DVD+RW. The only HD feature this deck does not support is interactive menus on the HD-DVD format. The other minor concern is the unit’s play button is on top, which is only a concern if you are rack mounting this piece. Otherwise we found the unit to load faster than the dedicated HD DVD Toshiba unit as well as the Sony Blu-ray player. We projected through a VPH VW-100 with a Lexicon MC4 and we found the BH-100 to perform outstanding. Vibrant picture with outstanding image contrast that compliments any home theater system. Other great features are selectable 720p/1080i video upconversion for DVD, built-in audio decoding for Dolby Digital Plus and Dolby TrueHD (2-channel), DTS, and multichannnel uncompressed PCM, and HDMI digital output.
