Congratulations to Will Ropp and Amanda Fuller for the awards they received at the Spirit of Broadway Gala! We are very proud of them and their achievements; the awards were well-earned.

The annual 308 Clean-Up will be held immediately after school on Tuesday, June 2nd. If you were involved in any way, shape, or form with Theatre 308 during the year, please come help us clean up the Little Theatre! It doesn't take very long when everyone pitches in.

Elections for 308 officers will be held on Tuesday, June 9th. People who wish to be entered in the election for a position must submit their names and a brief letter of intent to Ms. Herman before the 9th. They may ask to be considered for multiple positions or just one, and must make the exact number clear in their submission. The officer positions are as follows:

Secretary
Business Manager
Member(s)-At-Large

The Theatre 308 End-of-Year Party will be held at Reilly Horan's house on Monday, June 15th. A sign-up sheet to help bring food, beverages, utensils, etc. will go around at the next meeting.

For new members, Theatre 308 meetings are held right after school on Tuesdays in the Little Theatre. It is on the right side of the auditorium, down the hall on your right. Please also pay attention to the announcements and notice the Theatre 308 bulletin board area in the Cafeteria.

Here is the commitment form (in Adobe PDF format). You MUST fill it out and return it to an officer or advisor before you are allowed to participate in any way.
Please remember that the terms of the commitment form prohibit any use of tobacco, alcohol, and drugs at any point during the year. Any violation of the policy puts the entire show in jeopardy.

Please also remember that there are plenty of jobs to be done in 308 besides just acting. Set crew, painting crew, lighting, sound, props, costumes, makeup, ushering, and more—all require willing volunteers to help make sure the show goes on. We strongly encourage you to ask about helping out in any of these areas!

Important Note about the Fundraising Effort at the Darien Library:

A message from Jeanne Yurman:

"My name is Jeanne Yurman and I am on the Spring fundraising committee for the Darien Library. I am reaching out to you on behalf of the committee to seek your help with an upcoming raffle to raise money for the new library.

As a twist to usual ticket sales we are seeking at least one volunteer per selling location to dress up as a literary character. We need volunteers to fill two-hour shifts here in town on Saturday, April 25th and Saturday, May 2nd. The shifts would be 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and noon-2 p.m.. (At one location there are 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and 2-4 p.m. shifts.)

Below is a list of possible characters though we are wide open to suggestions. If you have another idea we ask only that the character be identifiable and that you be able to supply the costume.

We are hopeful that many of you can help. The library relies very heavily on donations such as those raised by this raffle and the cause is one that benefits everyone in town.

About Theatre 308

Theatre 308 has weekly meetings in the Little Theatre on Tuesdays right after school. ALL are welcome and encouraged to attend!

History:
Theatre 308 is a collaborative effort between students and faculty to produce two major theatrical performances each year and several student-directed-and-produced one-act plays in the spring. Since its establishment in 1980, it has been an integral part of the Darien High School community.
Theatre 308's name originates from when the company entered drama competitions on state and national levels. During this time they were a part of the National Thespians's 308th Sector, prompting the current name of DHS's beloved theatre program.
While participating in Theatre 308, students work on all levels of the dramatic and technical aspects of theatre while receiving an invaluable education and exposure to the arts.
