And most of them were too complex. So BC did great by going simple.

Today, though, web users got more robust and "less is just less" sometimes.

We use 5pm (www.5pmweb.com) for the reasons you mentioned - the features.

Great review!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16659240.post-72344565171151478432008-11-23T21:42:00.000-05:002008-11-23T21:42:00.000-05:00I actually use intervals. I'm not sure how good it would be as a collaborative project management tool. But I haven't tried to use it that way much yet.

It now has milestones (a new feature,) which is great. I doesn't have messages, and I find that in Basecamp (and ProjectPier) messages is where a lot of work gets done.Michelle Murrainhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08268750074091713224noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16659240.post-64295808042169235112008-11-23T17:24:00.000-05:002008-11-23T17:24:00.000-05:00Basecamp is often hailed as simple because it left...Basecamp is often hailed as simple because it left out many project management features. For good reason, though, because building a web-based project management tool with a full set of features is more challenging that you would think. Intervals is another alternative to Basecamp that is trying to pick up where Basecamp left off:
http://www.myintervals.comjohnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15903971177129603875noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16659240.post-20053884363627527842008-11-21T06:45:00.000-05:002008-11-21T06:45:00.000-05:00The review is excellent! I used it in the beggining and then found another great system, that supports multiple project management.hulkhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02085019057090968408noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16659240.post-60870944478080408692008-11-17T11:46:00.000-05:002008-11-17T11:46:00.000-05:00Just so everyone knows - ActiveCollab used to be t...Just so everyone knows - ActiveCollab used to be the open source Basecamp clone, until they closed the source, and went commercial. (If you buy it, you can get the source, but it's not really open source.) ProjectPier is a fork of the old open source ActiveCollab code, and remains open source. It provides collaboration tools for the project teams but also provides high-end tools for the project manager. Projects can also be grouped into programmes with summaries across all of the projects within a programme of work. Finally e-LM.com allows you align your projects and programmes with your business strategy through Benefits Realisation and mapping.Brucehttp://www.e-lm.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16659240.post-47617951854417105542008-11-17T03:24:00.000-05:002008-11-17T03:24:00.000-05:00Great writeup!
