The regatta was held on Carnegie Lake in Princeton NJ and consisted of a 4,500 meter head race. Malvern Rowers competed in the Navy Day Regatta, Schuylerskiff Regatta and Row for the Cure. Although Malvern raced unchallenged, it allowed everyone to get a feel for the Schuylkill river race course for Malvern's upcoming Schuylkill river races. Malvern faced stiff competition in the Men's Ltwt. Double and Men's Varsity Quad event were they were competitive. Dave Matsic and Bill Doughty qualified for the Petite Final were they placed 4th.  Seniors Mike Donohue and Chris Higgins along with sophmores Pat Donohue and Austin Bury qualified for the A Final were they placed 5th in a very competitive event. Malvern faced stiff competition in the Men's Ltwt. Double and Men's Varsity Quad were they were competitive. Dave Matsic and Bill Doughty qualified for the Petite Final were they placed 4th.  Seniors Mike Donohue and Chris Higgins along with sophmores Pat Donohue and Austin Bury qualified for the A Final were they placed 5th in a very competitive event. In the finals, despite only rowing together as a boat for a very short period of time, they were able to finish with an impressive 2nd place. Double. Dave and Bill placed 1st in their qualifier and repeated their 1st place row on saturday, capturing an SRA National Title. After having to restart the race due to a collision, Malvern battled through tough competition and a head wind to finish with open water and an SRA National Title. The win completed Malvern's third consecutive year of winning Cities, Stotesbury and Scholastic Nationals in the Varsity Quad. Junior Andrew Paisley and novice Nic Kilmer placed 13th in their time trial of the Men's Varsity Double on friday so were unable to advance. Giving them varisty racing experience for next year, novices Pat Allen and Mike Mancenelli raced in the Mens's Lightweight Double. Pat and Mike were competitive and made it past the time trials and placed 6th in their semi-final. Senior Sean Lawler raced in the Men's Varsity Single. Sean qulaified for the semi - final were he placed 3rd, one place short of advancing to the final.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Malvern had a very sucessfull day in all of their quad events, winning all three. Saturday started off with a solid win from freshmen Mike Lewers, Jeremy Gonzalez, Chris Smart and Austin Velte. After placing 2nd in their time trials to Montclair, the Freshmen Quad won their final. They won the first ever Freshmen Quad event at Stotesbury and in doing so claimed the Jack and Nancy Seitz Trophy.&lt;br /&gt;In the Boy's Junior Quad, Dave Matasic, Jack Buckley, Dan Schwarz, and Bill Doughty placed 1st in the time trial and the semi-final to advance them to the finals. In the finals with a slight headwind Dave, Jack, Dan and Bill rowed a solid race to come in 1st place, 3 seconds ahead of second place. The Junior Quad was awarded the George C. Hines Trophy for their 1st place finish.&lt;br /&gt;Defending Stotesbury champions, Malvern's Varisty Senior Quad finished the day strong for Malvern Rowing. The Varisty quad was quoted by head coach Craig Hoffman as “a young boat that has had to work extremely hard.” and that is what they did. After placing 1st in their time trial, seniors Mike Donohue and Chris Higgins along with sophmores Austin Bury and Pat Donohue all rowed well in a hard fought race, beating schools such as Roman Catholic Highschool and The Haverford School. Malvern was awarded the Sonzogni Trophy for the Varisty Quad's 1st place finish for the 3rd consecutive year.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Malvern looks foward to competing next weekend in &lt;a href="http://www.sraa.net/"&gt;SRA's&lt;/a&gt; at Mercer Lake Nj. As quoted on &lt;a href="http://www.row2k.com/STOTES/features.cfm?ID=17"&gt;row2k&lt;/a&gt;, Head Coach Craig Hoffman stated "The other teams are really terrific boats, and we're very fortunate to win today. Malvern claimed 2 City Championships in varsity events, as well as various placings by the Junior Varsity as well as Malvern's novices.  Malvern's Varsity Quad of Mike Donohue, Pat Donohue, Austin Bury, and Chris Higgins, rowed a hard fought race to place 1st.    Mike, Pat, Austin and Chris rowed a time of  4:35.85, 2.04 seconds ahead of 2nd.  David Matsic and Bill Doughty also won a City Championship.  Dave and Bill raced a time of  5:10.12, placing them 1st in the Boy's Lwt. Double.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In the Junior Varsity events, Malvern placed 2nd and 3rd.  Alec Somers and Austin Moore placed 3rd with a time of 5:13.77 in the JV Double.  Andrew Paisley placed 2nd in the boy's JV single with a time of 5:50.18. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Malvern's Freshman Quad placed 1st with a time 5:11.74.  Malvern's Novice Quad placed 2nd with a time of 5:23.10.  Malvern also placed 3rd in the Boy's Novice Double with a time of 6:03.80&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Malvern will compete in Stotesbury May 15th and 16th. The day started out with a 2nd place finish from Andrew Paisley in the Men's JV Single event with a time of 5:48.98. Also Placing 2nd was Austin Moore and Alec Somers with a time of 5:15.93 in the Men's JV Double event. In the Novice quad, Malvern placed 1st and 3rd with times of 5:11.31 ( A Quad) and 5:12.50 ( B Quad). Malvern placed 4th and 5th in the novice single with Robbie Smith coming in 4th with 6:28.83 and Julian Venonsky coming in 5th with 6.33.74.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In the Men's Varsity Single, Sean Lawler placed 3rd with 5:41.02. In the Varsity Double Event Malvern placed 1st in 2 separate heats. Jack Buckley and Dan Schwarz placed 1st with 5:28.07, David Matasic and Bill Doughty placed 1st with a time of 5:04.47. In a close race, Malvern placed 2nd in the Men's Varsity Quad. 0);font-family:Arial;font-size:85%;"  &gt;&lt;div&gt;On Thursday 14 Malvern rowers raced in the 5 5/8 mile Schuylkill Navy Run, also known as the Thanksgiving Turkey Trot. Malvern freshman rower Jeremy Gonzalez was the first High School runner across the line. Jeremy Gonzalez, Dan Schwarz, Dave Matasic, Bill Doughty, Jack Buckley and coach Brandon  O'Brien ran under 40 minutes. In a field  of 39 single scullers from around the country, Malvern placed five rowers in the  top 13 slots. In Sunday's Club Mens Single Chris Higgins placed 16th with a time of 20:00.876, Bill Doughty  placed  36th with 20:57.868, Kevin Quinn  placed 41st with 21:24.158, Sean Lawler placed 42nd with 21:24.219 and Pat Donohue rowed a time of 20:53.773 plus 1 minute in penalties which placed him 50th.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In the  Youth Doubles Men event Dave Matasic and Mike Donohue placed 4th with a time of &lt;span class="results"&gt;18:15.160.  Austin Bury and Alec Somers placed 22nd with a time of &lt;/span&gt;&lt;span class="results"&gt;20:05.528. Mike Donohue lead Malvern with a time of   16:42.70 followed by Chris Higgins with   17:01.70 for 2nd and Dave Matasic with   17:20.10 for 3rd.  Bill Doughty placed 5th with   17:32.00 followed by Kevin Quinn with 17:48.40 for 6th, Pat Dononhue with   17:49.50 for 7th and Jack Buckley for   for 8th with 18:11.10.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Austin Moore placed 12th with a time of   18:35.00, Alec Somers with    18:36.00 for 13th and Cameron Fuller with   19:32.30 for 17th.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Malvern Raced 2 doubles which came in 4th and 5th. Sean Lawler and Austin Bury placed 4th with a time of   17:03.00.
