Part Of Work That Can Be Interesting And Fun / Mysteries

To myself and the two friends I have worked with for years, through the course of the year items show up and we don't know where they came from sometimes but it gets us thinking for sure.

An example of that is here with these two items. The red one I know where that came from but that is a different mystery that remains unsolved that I'll mention last.

The piece on the left was found on one of our narrow bridges that crosses a creek. Looked familiar but we didn't know what is was from. So these lay around on the bench as a reminder and generally an answer can be found eventually as it was in this case. It must have taken three months at least before it came together.

While working on one of these it had to be jacked up and noticed the front wheels turned almost 90* to the right. Upon further investigation as they say the mystery was solved with the first piece but that's not the whole story.

That piece is a steering stop that had been broken off.
These vehicles are electric and require little care. Just don't deal with them much or I probably would have caught this sooner.

Here's what I can tell you for sure. See that protective post just in the front of the hood in the second picture? The right front wheel's position from the drivers seat is decieving at best and sticks out further than one thinks. I know this because I ran into that post pretty damn hard while making a turn. It threw me into the steering wheel which raked my right forearm open. It was nasty!

We take pictures of everything and there is one of that and just have not put up hurt pictures here but there has been blood and skin drawn many times by the three of us as it's just the nature of the beast. Literally it goes it spurts this getting hurt and drawing blood shit and you just can't be a pussy or you'd be at the doctor's office all the time. If someone wants to to see the actually damage that was done let me know and I can arrange a whole barrage of hurt pictures for you.

Welded found piece back onto the spindle which was very straight forward and it will work until it happens again I suppose.

A general rule of thumb in many of these matters is that usually there will be more to the story as there is in this case. After all it is modern day Caddyshack ya know.

The kicker here is that we have two of these and the other one was broke in the same way and it wouldn't surprise me if it happened on a bridge.

Made a piece for the other one . It's not identical but will serve the purpose just fine.

These machines can reach out and bite you so hard so fast you'll be hurt before you can get scared. There are one to four people that took two really hard dead stop hits. I'm happy no one got hurt but I'm sure there was some hurt going around!

The other piece came off of or fell from a new mower itself and an attempt made to cut it like a blade of grass. The iron won.

If you click on this picture you can see the radius is the same as the axle. At the bottom there is a laser cut opening of the same diameter but no circle that I could see. The kicker here is that this piece is painted everywhere. I'm thinking it may have been laying inside the axle and fell out but still how did it get painted so well. Again this was a new machine and required little. Soon this will be up in the air with the tires and shrouding off. Maybe then an answer may be found as to where this came from but I have my doubts.

One of the reasons there's a lot of things in the air in the San Luis Valley and for years this has been happening the latest in San Luis itself. The Saladbar bro's are off the hook on this by the way.

I would very much like to view one of these sometime but I have talked and heard from a long time rancher who this happened to twice. The articles pretty much explain what they look like and also what's at the scene which is nothing. What my friend related that I've never read anywhere is that his cattle were found on their backs with there legs straight up in the air.

Today got the call that I've been waiting for from a long time friend telling me she got the/a job with the government after years of trying that after six months of training whatever she'll be doing will be classified. She stuck out two years in the Peace Corps that helped land this. I am soooo happy for her. She'll be one of the best out there without question. This was a major hiring process.

Twenty-six convicted killers tried to buy guns in Colorado this year but were denied as part of the state's instant background check program.

That not the half of it. 5000 total have been denied through November. The InstaCheck program has also prevented the gun purchases of 90 people who had been convicted of sexual assault, 82 who had been convicted of a robbery and 915 with assault convictions. The background checks also resulted in the arrest of 89 people who had pending warrants.

This is in addition to the Feds and it's easy to see this state law works very well.

I guess I don't have to ponder too much about those who were denied or were arrested on warrants on why they entered this process to purchase a weapon.
