Mexican Families Begin Sending Money to Relatives in U.S.

"Mexico is expected to lose more than 700,000 jobs this year due to a slumping economy that may decline as much as 7.5%. Almost half of the country’s population lives in poverty, and yet, it is managing to reverse a trend of money that has traditionally flowed from north (the United States) to south.

While no statistics are yet available, plenty of anecdotal information suggests an increasing number of Mexican immigrants in the U.S. are now receiving money from relatives in Mexico, instead of sending it. Unemployment is so bad in migrant communities in the U.S. Southwest that some families south of the border are hurting less than those they know in the United States, causing them to wire whatever money they can.

“It’s something that’s surprising, a symptom of the economic crisis,” Martín Zuvire Lucas, who heads a network of community banks in Oaxaca and other underserved Mexican states, told The New York Times. “We haven’t been able to measure it but we hear of more cases where money is going north.”

Your sweet ride has to change a little because the greatest depression is making people nervous and worried even though Fox is working double overtime to convince them what they're going through is just a minor bump in the road. So what do you do? You legalize some innocuous vegetable material that should never have been made illegal in the first place, stuff that everybody knows is harmless, and pretend that it's a giant leap for mankind.

With this propaganda they want us to think there's this huge shift in public perception and there isn't one. Support for complete legalization has always been overwhelming. This is a tactical policy change by our would be controllers to do certain things. For one, it's impossible anymore to maintain the illusion that pot is harmful. For another, they've always known that getting high will pacify, and they know the mood in this country, especially after eight years of Bush mob hell on earth and the largest financial theft in human history, is getting extremely volitile. Our overlords would like nothing better than to see the rabble crashing on the sofa in front of the tube rather than organizing or out on the streets raising cain. "On November 9, the New Yorker magazine published a lengthy article by veteran correspondent Seymour Hersh dealing with the considerable nervousness in US ruling circles over the security of Pakistan’s arsenal of between 80 and 100 nuclear weapons. Hersh’s sources told him that the primary fear was not a Taliban takeover, but a mutiny by anti-American Islamist tendencies inside the Pakistani armed forces, in which they attempt to seize all or parts of the country’s nuclear arsenal.
Like many of Hersh’s exposés, the article uses information leaked by unnamed high-level sources to make public an aspect of US foreign policy causing concerns in ruling circles. In this case, the primary motive appears to be to press for greater Pakistani guarantees over its nuclear weapons and more intrusive American monitoring and involvement.
Hersh alleged that US officials have pushed over the past eight years for an “understanding” with their Pakistani counterparts that American forces can enter Pakistan to secure its nuclear arsenal in the event of a direct threat. According to Hersh’s sources, a special unit drawn from several agencies is on four hours’ notice to deploy to Pakistan from Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland. The objective would be to seize the triggers that are needed to arm the weapons, and fly the devices out of the country. Cops Beat Portland Man To An "Excited Delirium" Death

"Three officers arrested Chasse, 42, on Sept. 17, 2006, after one of the officers said Chasse appeared to be urinating in the street. There was no evidence that he had urinated in the street. Police said he ran when they approached. They chased him, knocked him to the ground and struggled to handcuff him.
Medics called to the scene did not take him to a hospital, saying Chasse's vital signs were normal. But jail staff refused to book him because of his physical condition. Chasse, who suffered from schizophrenia, died while being taken to the hospital in a police car. The medical examiner said he died of broad-based blunt-force trauma to the chest.
Had Chasse received proper medical attention, he probably would have lived, according to Dr. Karen Gunson, the state medical examiner, answering questions in a deposition.
The autopsy found Chasse suffered 26 breaks to 16 ribs, some of which punctured his left lung, and 46 separate abrasions or contusions. In the autopsy report, Gunson made no mention of "excited delirium" as she has in other Oregon cases."

Fox News again accused of airing misleading video

"For the second time in just over a week, Fox News is coming under fire for misusing old news footage. The latest flap is leading some people to charge that the cable news network is intentionally misleading its audience, while Fox claims a "production error."
Wednesday's incident occurred when Fox News host Gregg Jarrett mentioned that a Sarah Palin appearance and book signing in Grand Rapids, Michigan had a massive turnout. As footage rolled of a smiling and waving Palin amidst a throng of fans, Jarrett noted that the former Republican vice-presidential candidate is "continuing to draw huge crowds while she's promoting her brand-new book,'' adding that the images being shown were "some of the pictures just coming in to us.... The lines earlier had formed this morning."
However, the video used in the segment was from a 2008 McCain/Palin campaign rally. In response to the minor uproar that arose after clips of Jarrett's report hit the Internet, Fox senior vice-president of news Michael Clemente issued an initial statement saying, "This was a production error in which the copy editor changed a script and didn't alert the control room to update the video."
