Yes my idea of vacation is lack of sleep, food, and water for an extended amount of time while exerting myself both physically and mentally beyond what I thought was possible. Soon to be Fairfax residents.  So we'll see how that goes.J-row and I are prepping for the Tetons trip.  We nailed down 4 trad leads at Little Stony Mountain in Shenandoah NP this past weekend. July 21st, 2009It started with a picture from 1944. In the Potomac Mountaineering Club's "Climber's Guide to the Great Falls of the Potomac" guidebook lies a picture from September 17, 1944 of 4 men attempting a traverse of the area known as Echo Rock.  This section of high cliffs is located farthest downstream at Great Falls, VA and has heights upwards of 70 feet with an assumed total lengthwise

After working all but the sit-start to a new V5+ at Sterling SportRock, I nail the sequence and send it 5th try.  If you are in the area, it's located in the back corner and is marked with neon yellow tape.  I found it challenging but a nice line up an immdiatly overhangin arete to a medium matching hold.  The Roman chair is paying off as the 2nd to last move requires an all abs twist and full

And I send my first gym 5.10. Unreal how I find indoor much harder than outdoor climbing. But a few good warm up runs and some easy bouldering.... Bam.... Onsight the new 5.10c/d at SportRock along with an unknown/unmarked route that probably rated at 5.10a/b.

I've always gotten a kick out of it snowing on my birthday in mid April. But hail in late April, wow.
