It saves a huge amount of time when you're preparing instructional recordings. The addition of the Spotlight feature will make it even more powerful by allowing you to draw the viewer's focus to important points in your presentation. Just like putting blinders on a racehorse. I have used the trial version of Camtasia Studios and I feel it is by far the most feature-filled screencasting software available. On top of that it appears to also be the easiest to use, both for getting started and for more advanced features. It is most likely well worth the price, but then again - that's a lot of price to consider!! I am a long-time user of TechSmith's SnagIt (though admittedly I am not completely pleased with their latest version of it). I also use Jing - their free screencasting tool - to create my screencasts currently. Virtually all of the screencasts I create are for family members and friends who are complete novices with computers. My wife, for example! I am naturally concerned that she surf safely on her new computer. Also that she knows how to properly maintain her computer. Yet watching over her shoulder to instruct her is, well, not really the wisest way to do this! (Really hope she never reads this!) I have found that by creating nice, clean, Beginner Tutorials for her so that she can watch them and learn without having to worry that I might think she is not catching on quickly enough. This makes learning much more helpful and less stressful for her. Jing is great for this. Camtasia Studio would be nicer!

Thanks!

JimJim McGowanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06249619715053534604noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16145552.post-62553347418068317632008-09-25T19:46:00.000-05:002008-09-25T19:46:00.000-05:00IMPORTANT: If you post with a blogger account make...IMPORTANT: If you post with a blogger account make sure your profile is accessible and contains an email addressVeignhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09256430019594742378noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16145552.post-85898490041542107572008-09-25T19:00:00.000-05:002008-09-25T19:00:00.000-05:00At the end of a long contract working with a large...At the end of a long contract working with a large computer and software services vendor, I had the consultant's usual responsibility of training the in-house folks in using the technologies I had used before leaving for the next gig. Over those 30 days, I used Camtasia Studio 2 for the outside-of-the-classroom screen-oriented parts of the training, and it was invaluable. I was able to accomplish far more in the limited time available than I would have with a less-capable tool. Lately I've been using another TechSmith tool, jing, for "quick take" short how-tos, but it would be very nice to have available the full power of the latest version of Camtasia. I hope I win!

eustaceEustacehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08972452970621988979noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16145552.post-48198824257163084052008-09-25T13:32:00.000-05:002008-09-25T13:32:00.000-05:00I have used Camtasia Studio in the past to record ...I have used Camtasia Studio in the past to record screencasts for training purposes and it was GREAT.
