Many US commanders were unaware or unwilling to believe the Viet Cong could coordinate and pull so many attacks in so many places. Militarily, the Tet Offensive , ended the Viet Cong as a viable fighting force. Nevertheless, the US public as well as many in the media and political circles decided the US was no longer capable of winning in Vietnam. Even though the fighting forces of the US Military never lost a major battle, public opinion made all the difference.

Come join the battle as the US forces defend multiple bases and installations against an all out general attack by the VC. Run recon, patrols, ambush, and defensive missions to come out on top.
Tacticalpaintball’s field is 122 acres of pure adrenalin. With massive pyrotechnics, special effects, multiple bases, a MOUT site. 2 Huey Helicopters, Tanks and more this game will prove to test the best paintball warrior.
Game will run 10 am until 10 pm on Saturday Oct 11th. The Austin Missions series is currently on indefinite hiatus. This is mainly due to it being the Summer season and the fact that it's pretty hard to get folks out in the Texas heat and humidity.

So, I know it's a bummer, but keep checking back at this space if you're interested in what we (the Austin Missions staff) are up to. Just FYI, some of us are going to Oklahoma DDay this year. If any of you readers out there are going, feel free to drop us a line and maybe we'll see you up there!

Best wishes, y'all, and we hope to see you all again soon!

Drunkenmaster
on behalf of the Austin Missions Staff

Austin Mission Bravo Pictures

Hey everyone!
Here are the pictures for Austin Mission Bravo: Bedlam in the Balkans! Somehow we have lost the first camera so we only have two cameras worth of pics for this event. The first camera was mostly of the staging area and the beginning 2-3hours. Hopefully we will fiind it but right now it is MIA. CPT Maverick and CPT Walker duked it out but in the end the VDV forces of Krasnovia took the day.

The final score being 305 KN to 135 US.

Personally, I want to thank the Team Captains and XOs from each side for putting up a great fight. Up until about 1530 it was still anyone's game and CPT Walker's forces dug deep to push the US Paratroopers of the 82nd farther and farther back. A special shout out goes to all the roleplayers and Refs who came out to support the event. Especially Jon Pena (aka Ambassador Norland among others), Ben Kimball (Diplomatic Security Agent, Sheik "Al", Pilot LT Franklin among others), Joe and Steph, Ashley, my wife Lana (Kommissar Major Zenya) and extra special thanks to Jen for handling all the registration nightmares. Further thanks goes out to all the TEAMS that participated in the event (MAST, Total Insanity, XIII Legion Infidels, COBRA, UT Paintball, Hell's Hammer, Renegade Legion, Ronin Recon, Shadow Company, Black List, Corporal Punishment, Warthogs, and any other teams that I might have missed!)

Pictures are on the way as soon as I get them developed. If you've pre-registered, you should be receiving emails from our staff (if you haven't already).

This is a last-minute note to let everyone know that our pre-registration deadline has been confirmed. It is midnight of 27APR. As of that time, our pre-registration website will stop taking registrations. You can find that waiver for download at the following link:

http://xtremepb.net/waiver.html

This is especially important for players between 10 and 17. Players 10-17 will need to have a parent sign their waiver to play. There will be no exceptions to this rule! So, if you fall into that range (or especially if you're a parent bringing a large group of kids that may or may not be your own), print out the waiver and bring it to us already signed.

Thanks so much for all your attention and support. We're really excited about seeing everyone out there for some scenario action on May 3rd!

all the best,
Drunkenmaster (aka Ray)
Mission Coordinator - The Austin Missions

Support from and for Tactical Paintball

Hello again from the Austin Missions Staff!

We're looking forward to one hell of an event at Austin Mission Bravo! Part of the reason for that is the awesome support we've received from the community over at Tactical Paintball in Harwood, TX. Tim "CPTMaverick" Siemek (who's commanding the US 82nd Airborne) has put out on their web forums a general call to the Tactical community to come support him at Mission Bravo. He and his team are hardcore and dedicated to restoring peace to Uzbekistan! Check out the link on their forums here:

http://tacticalpaintball.com/newforum/viewtopic.php?t=655

I'd also like to take this time to mention that Tactical Paintball will be holding one of their own scenario events a few weeks after ours. This is one of their annual events that gets great support from players and teams across the Texas region (and beyond). It's their Starship Troopers: Last Stand on the Home Front event, which you can read about here:

http://tacticalpaintball.com/newforum/viewtopic.php?t=612

Think about it, folks! All those new friends you make at Austin Mission Bravo will be playing on their home turf a few weeks later. Head on over to their forums so you can be involved in the discussions! I'm sure the Tactical family will be happy to have you there at one of the major online resources of the Scenario Paintball community in Texas!

It's time to get excited about all the upcoming Scenarios in Texas!

Drunkenmaster
Krasnovian Mission Coordinator - The Austin Missions

Rules FAQ posted!

Hello again to everyone from the Austin Missions Staff!

We've gotten some questions about our rules and have written up a brief FAQ to clarify some things. Please click the title of this post to check it out and let us know what you think!

Excerpt:

Q: In other games, if an opposing player tapes you with their armband, then you become a spy. Is this acceptable in Austin Missions games?

A: No, it’s not. There are no spies as of yet in Austin Missions scenario events. Your wristband (on which is printed your registration number) and your taped red or blue armband should stay on at all times. We understand sometimes tape comes off, but please let the TOC/Registration know if this happens and we’ll rectify the situation.

New poll is up!

Hey Gang,

We are not quite sure which direction our players would like to take our scenario games. US CO Confirmed!

Flash!

In light of recent events in the war-torn area north of Tashkent (in Uzbekistan), the US Congress has pushed through a bill to release large amounts of funds to the peacekeeping effort. As part of this push to reinforce the troops, decorated officer CPT Maverick and his personal unit (Team Total Insanity) are being sent into the fray. CPT Maverick and his team have years of scenario experience under their collective belts and are hell bent on securing the area. They'll be calling on all the teams from Tactical Paintball and Texas at large to aid in their efforts!

As some of you may know, CPT Maverick is the team leader of Total Insanity and was one of the generals at Tactical's Gears of War game back in December of 2007. That's just one of many games at which this well-liked commander has taken the reins. He's a stand-up player who stands for integrity; he'll dress down a bad sportsman or unsafe player just as fast as any ref ever will! As anyone who's served under him will tell you, you can't find a general who's more dedicated to promoting sportsmanship and fun!

On the other side, you've got the Krasnovians, who are attempting to expand their influence into the area. They're lead by the returning champion of the Austin Mission series, Bryan Walker. While Bryan is somewhat new to command on the paintball field (Austin Mission Alpha was his first full command), he's no stranger to command positions. An ex-Army officer (he served with the 3rd/227 ATK Apache group); he's cool under pressure and has ice in his veins. Also, returning under Bryan's command is Team Blacklist out of Houston. They'll be looking to defend their crown and calling their allied teams to help!

And last but not least, we can't forget the walkon players! Walkon players turned the tide at the last Austin Mission, and there's no doubt they'll be important in this battle, as well. So, whether you're a team player from way back or just a guy who wants to try this "scenario paintball" thing out, come on out to Xtreme on May 3rd! If Austin Mission Alpha was a hard-fought battle, Mission Bravo is going to be all out war; Bedlam in the Balkans!

Drunkenmaster (aka Ray Harlan)
Mission Coordinator - The Austin Missions

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://austinmissionscenario.blogspot.com/2008/03/major-update-us-co-confirmed.html' title='Major Update! Ooooh." With that said we will be allowing paint mines, boobytraps, and IEDs (using paint grenades). Only thread tripwires will be allowed (no metal, piano wire, paracord, greenline, or bungee). The thread must be able to break with normal walking pressure. Nothing that could even possibly trip someone will be allowed. Only authorized and pre-approved paint mines and boobytraps will be allowed on the field. (please do not bring any smoke or pyro as it will be strictly controlled by the Mission Coordinators for safety and insurance reasons!!!) Not to mention Airborne drops that will allow commanders to place troops nearly anywhere on the battlefield! This ups the strategic picture and now makes commanders have to deal with "vertical envelopment". Hoo-ah! There will also be more Special Operations and more props to deal with!As we promised- nastier missions and a bigger better event. Check this blog for further updates. We are in need of a commander for the US side for this event.

This position will be one fraught with challenges. The Krasnovian side has momentum from their victory at Mission Alpha and will be trying to push the "All Americans" of the 82nd Airborne back through the city of Tashkent. However, this is a great opportunity for a Scenario Commander or Team to make a name for themselves. This is a "revenge" scenario that will definitely affect the direction of the backstory for the Austin Missions.

We're adding some notable new tricks to the commander's toolbag for both sides in this event. That should definitely step things up a notch from Mission Alpha. Also, we're hoping to see Team MAST and the guys from COBRA Woodsball back out there tearing it up for the 82nd. With the possibility of the support of those veteran teams and some big time tricks up both commander's sleeves, it's going to be one hell of a fight!

So, if you feel you're ready to step up and take the Winner's Trophy out of the reigning champion's hands, contact me and we can talk more about details (email at zallekin [at] gmail[dot] com). Fire it up, 82nd! We're looking forward to a hell of a game at Bravo!

Austin Mission Bravo Pre-Registration is UP!!!

Austin Mission Bravo:
Bedlam in the Balkands

A Mini-Scenario Event
Mission Site: Xtreme Paintball of Austin
Mission Duration: 8 HOURS!

Report Date: 3 May 2008 0800hrs
Scenario Created by former military combat veterans: 1LT William Toporek 519th MI Bn AIRBORNE(ret.) and SGT Mark McKane 4-5 ADA 1st CAVALRY DIVISION(ret.) based on real-life military missions and operations!

The communist Krasnovians have pushed past Tashkent in Uzbekistan! Their unilateral action has been widely condemned on the international stage, as many members of the UN have voiced their opinions. To this point, this outcry has been full of rhetoric, as nations continue to take sides on this issue. However, after the fighting earlier this week, a wider response is almost assured.

The Krasnovian plan of action appeared at the outset to be a simple one. They wished to take over key points on the Krasnovian/Uzbekistan border and then use those points as a foothold to funnel massive amounts of troops on secured lanes of travel. This blitzkrieg-style operation seemed designed as much to intimidate as to secure objectives, possibly inducing people to surrender in the face of such a strong invasion force. Luckily for the people of Uzbekistan, the “All-American” paratroops of the US Army’s 82nd Airborne Division were sent to slow the advance of the Krasnovian 106th Guards Airborne Division out of Tula. The bloody battle between the highly-trained airborne forces of both countries took place just north of the city of Tashkent.

On February 23rd, the area north of Tashkent found itself hotly contested. Both sides of the conflict fought long and hard to take every square inch of that soil from their enemy. Those of you following as events unfolded in this area were certainly able to see pictures of US Senator Kelly (R-Wyoming) touring the battlefield. The US troops in that area, though harried by the Krasnovian Airborne (VDV) paratroopers, protected the Senator well. As the media coverage around the Senator showed, the fighting was fierce and it was tough to say who would win the day. The Senator was luckily evacuated before any harm could befall him.

The paratroopers who had so bravely escorted the Senator, however, were not so fortunate. Soon after the Senator’s departure, Krasnovian VDV soldiers charged through the forward edge of the battle and punched a major hole in the American defenses. As the US forces fell back, all Internet and satellite communications coming from Tashkent were silenced. The UN and world media were left powerless and unable to gather any information except from scattered reports coming in by radio. Only now have those reports emerged from the war zone to be collected and correlated.

In one of these reports, evidence shows that the infamous Ali Akbar Muhammod Jalabad – better known as “Chemical Ali” – was sent by Al-Quaida to survey the area held by the Krasnovians. The implications are obvious, namely that this despicable man was in the area to provide secrets on the creation of chemical and biological weapons to the invaders. The nearby Venshanka chemical plant clearly figured into the Krasnovians invasion plan. If they could secure that facility and the help of Chemical Ali, they could easily terrorize the whole of Uzbekistan. This eventuality could only lead to bad ends.

In addition to aid from Chemical Ali, recent information has come to light that indicates the presence of another well known terrorist on the field. This man’s name is Hans Gruber; known to the world to be responsible for virtual attacks on many incredibly sensitive computer systems. Among his most famous attacks are: the theft of millions of dollars from numbered accounts in Switzerland, the severe disruption of shipping through the Panama Canal, and the simultaneous shutdown of power in areas of several major European cities, leading to riots and mass panic. It is now theorized that this wanted man has been returned to Eastern Europe, possibly his native Germany, by Krasnovian agents. This surely would have been in return for providing Krasnovian forces near Tashkent with the so-called “Doomsday” computer virus that has caused havoc with nearly every American computer system for the past several days.

Fortunately, there were two major US success stories to surface out of yesterday’s conflict. Under fire and harried at every turn, the valiant paratroopers of the 82nd were able to escort Nuclear Regulatory Officials to the former-Soviet nuclear missile silo in this area. Those officials were carrying codes that they then used to disarm the warheads residing in that facility, rendering them useless to the invaders. That act alone saved untold lives and took the nuclear bargaining chip away from the Krasnovians.

Additionally, US Security Forces were able to rescue several hostages that had been taken by the independent para-military group calling itself the Socialist Introspective League. Those hostages were being held at the Kruzchev nuclear facility along with US Colonel Jack Spartan, who had been captured early in the fighting around Tashkent. By saving these hostages and a key US officer, these brave men staved off an unimaginable diplomatic disaster. The bargaining potential of having a US Army Airborne Colonel in their possession would have increased the power of the Krasnovians tremendously.

Unfortunately, the Krasnovians had one last master stroke planned for the 82nd and the people of Uzbekistan. The Krasnovians were able, with the help of Chemical Ali, to build a chemical weapon of some power. They were then able to set off that device, devastating the area and driving the defenders back into Tashkent proper. While initial estimates put the death toll easily in the hundreds, the full extent of this weapon’s devastation will not be known until this conflict subsides. That doesn’t look to be possible any time soon due to the area north of Tashkent being securely under Krasnovian control.

While wars of conquest by Communist states have not been discussed on the world stage for some time, the forces of Krasnovia clearly intend to make their mark. They are obviously able to wreak tremendous havoc with unconventional weaponry, and additionally were able to disrupt the US command. The 82nd Airborne Division fell into disarray and as we speak is still struggling to consolidate its hold on Tashkent. While no one thought that this day would end peacefully, the outlook is definitely dire from the perspective of Uzbekistan and their allies. To those unfortunate souls, February 23rd, 2008 will always be remembered as a day of Apocalypse.

In the aftermath of these events, several important announcements have been made. The first was a renewed commitment to defend Uzbekistan by the US and their NATO allies. Senator Kelly proposed legislation (largely expected to pass easily through the US Legislature) to approve increased military funding specifically for the defense of Uzbekistan. The US military has further mobilized to bolster aid in invaded areas. They reportedly intend to provide increased manpower to the area as well as advanced equipment. NATO allies have offered monetary aid and the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) has begun preparations to enter the area around Tashkent to assess the damage incurred by poison gas.

As for the Krasnovians, they are poised to enter the city of Tashkent. It is not known what their immediate targets will be, but that city has many opportune sites, be they military, economic, or merely popular in nature. These are truly dark times for the inhabitants of that city, and it will be up to the intestinal fortitude of the 82nd Airborne Division to see them through.

82nd Airborne Recruitment Video

Well folks, it seems that after suffering defeat at the hands of the Krasnovian forces, the morale of the American troops of the 82ND Airborne has also suffered a serious blow.
