Nanomedicine labs registry

Publication of a nanomedicine lab registry on the website (http://www.nano-biology.net/labs.php). They are compiling a list of the top nanomedicine laboratories and rank them according to citation frequency.

The lab registry is comprehensive and was compiled from medline
abstracts containing specific nanomedicine keyphrases (we only include
laboratories with 5 or more publications). The database
of citation histories compiled from open source journal article
reference lists and a major OCR (optical character recognition)
campaign on our entire reference library. Labs are ranked according to
the citation rate of each individual article. For articles where we
did not have sufficient data or were too new to have citation data, we
used historical citation data from the journal and the principal
investigator.
The intention with the registry is to help new graduate students and
postdocs to find high impact laboratories. This information is
probably interesting to the general public as well if they are
interested in the most productive labs.

The Nanotechnology Foundation of Texas has also forecasted the potential development time of nanotechnology applications until 2050.

There are two items directly related to the field of nanomaterials: Composite & Smart Materials andMolecular Electronics.

For the first item, a timeframe from now to 2015 is projected while for the second, the timeframe ranges from 2020 to 2035.

Yet another nanotechnology roadmap, prepared by the Irish ICSTI represents the evolution of nanotechnology in three stages:

During last years many Nanotechnology reports have been edited with the main aim to describe new technological applications of nanotechnology.
Nanotechnology project (EU founded project) called nanoroadmap is on of this. Its main objective is to produce a long term (10 years) forecast to outline the applications of nanotechnology in three important industrial fields:

-nanomaterials
-health and medical: nanomedicine nanobiotechnology
-services energy.

Currently, nanotechnology is described as revolutionary discipline in terms of its possible impact on industrial applications.

Nanotechnology offers potential solutions to many problems using emerging nanotechniques, opening also new business apportunities.

In order to obtain knowledge-base to ensure industry and society can reach the benefits of this knowledge developing new products and processes, all country invested deeply in nanotechnology research.

Depending on the strong interdisciplinary character of nanotechnology greater coordination and collaboration need in the public and private sector inorder to achieve sufficient critical nanotechnology research mass.

Moreover, the realisation of true interdisciplinary in nanotechnology require great efforts also to education and training for research and industry.
