On Monday May 12th, 2008 rapper Remy Ma and Papoose will be getting married at Rikers Island. The New York times did a great article on what it would be like for them to get married in Rikers. Although conjugal visits are not allowed at Rikers, even for the newly wed, Remy and Papoose can apply for a chance for time alone if the incarcerated spouse is moved to one of the state prisons that allow such visits. I suppose Remy is really doing some time. Best of luck to this couple.

Jury Selection Starts for R. Kelly's Trial

Today the jury selections for R.Kelly's upcoming sex trial started, and it looks like that R. Kelly will be doing time. Add him to the increasing trends of famous African American stars who are now getting locked up including and certainly not limited to Michael Vick, Remy Ma, Chi Ali, Lil Kim, C-Murder, Foxy Brown, and I could go on and on.. According to the Associated Press article, it does not look promising for Mr. Kelly as jurors were confirmed being disgusted by some of the accusations as communicated to them during the jury selection.

Some of the potential jurors looked uncomfortable, and at least a few placed their hands over their eyes as the judge read some of the more graphic sections of the indictments, said Verna Sadock, a sketch artist who was in the room.

Hate to say it, but I also think he should do time! I could do 5 years without a new record from R. Kelly. Can you?

DMX Arrested Again on Animal Cruelty & Drugs

AllHipHop.Com just reported that rapper DMX was arrested again in less than 24 hours between his last arrest for speeding. This time, the arrest is a result of a police investigation for animal cruelty, and drug possession.

Authorities found several carcasses of dogs who were burned and buried, as well as several mal nourished dogs. If that is not enough they also found drugs, guns, and DMX was barracading himself in his bedroom before he gave himself up. This man is a nut job, and belongs in jail. Keep him in there this time.

The Marty Lyons Foundation

Yesterday I attended a very special event, The Marty Lyons Foundation, "Cigar Night". The last Cigar Night was held on March 2001 at the Downtown Athletic Club's Heisman Trophy which was destroyed on 9/11. For 25 years The Marty Lyons Foundation has kept hope alive in the hearts of children with a terminal or life threatening illness by making their special wish come true! It was amazing to me to see all these people gather for a common cause. I swear as Marty was speaking a tear couldn't help but fall from my eye because here is this guy who was a professional football player in the National Football League, where he served for twelve years as a premiere defensive lineman for the New York Jets, and he is the most humble guy standing for a cause that we are all too familiar with. I know we all talk about doing things to benefit others, but for 25 years the foundation has been granting children and their parents their "last wishes", if you are one of those parents or child you know how important those simple things are. So it goes without saying I was honored to be in his presence. I think it's a wonderful thing he and his foundation are doing for our children. I didn't get a chance to shake his hand or thank him for all the wonderful things he has accomplished, but if he happens to read this, I just want to say thank you for everything you stand for.
