I WONDER WHY

I wonder WHY the subject of Mathematics and Science could be taught in Bahasa Malaysia, Chinese language (i.e.Mandarin) and Tamil, BUT not in English.

Isn't English a common language in our beloved multiracial country? We ought to remember that English also happens to be the number 1 lingua franca in the world, a truly international language.

WHY Mathematics and Science cannot be also taught in English in Malaysia? Why its okay with Bahasa Malaysia, Mandarin and Tamil but not English?

The mother-tongue of an Iban boy in Ulu Kapit is not Bahasa Malaysia, Chinese or Tamil, so are we depriving him of his rights to learn Science and Mathematics in Bahasa Iban?

I still wonder ...

Utusan's poll appeared after an overwhelming majority from the over 60,000 respondents to www.chedet.cc were against the Government's recent decision to STOP the teaching of Science and Mathematics in English.

Singapore went to town last week with the announcement of the appointment, for the first time, of a Malay to head the Republic's Armed Forces.

Colonel Ishak Ismail, a career officer in the SAF, is the first Malay to achieve the rank of Brigadier General.

His promotion was described as marking a milestaone in Malays' efforts to be fully accepted in the military, a contoversial issue ever since it was disclosed in 1987 that the SAF adopted cautious approach in placing them in key positions.

Finally, the island-republic decided to emulate what Malaysia hd been doing even during the days of Malaya - that is to appoint members from the ethnic minority to key positions in the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF). This was and is being done despite the fact that the rank and file are filled by majority Malays.

The Government, has been trying with little success to encourage the participation of more non-Malays, especially the Chinese to join the armed services as a career platform.

The appointment of Ishak as a Brigadier-General or Rear-Admiral (One Star) smacks of 'tokenism", but the move has been heralded by many Singapore admirers as proof of the republic's 'colour-blind' policies as well as that of meritocracy.

Actually the song and dance that Singapore makes of the appointment of a Malay is clearly racist. It is a confession that it had discriminated against the Malays in the past. Recently, even Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong (who himself was commander of the SAF) had declared publicly that Singapore was not ready for a non-Chinese Prime Minister.

Now it is window dressing time.

Racists in Malaysia can already be heard shouting in the blogsphere that such an appointment would never be seen in Malaysia.

Well is it? Have they heard of Brig-Gen Baljit Singh, Brig-Gen Huang Chew Siong, Brig-Gen T.Parameswaran, Mej-Gen Gophal Ramdass, First Admiral T.Thiruchandran, Commodore T.Thanabalasingham (Malaysia's first chief of Navy) and Brig-Gen Toh Boon Fook. Then there is Mej-Gen N.Selvarah.

Major-Gen William Stevenson is currently the Army's Inspector-General.

Of course the Defence Ministry may not have tabulated the whole list of top ranking military personnel based on racial background since their participation in the MAF had never been considered a novelty or token.

Unlike in Singapore when such an appointment is made it needed to be announced to the whole world less it was not noticed.

One wonders what is the responsibility of Brig-Gen Ishak Ismail?

But, for the benefit of those with racist tendencies, this following list was tabulated from available public records between 1966 - now;

TRAITORS IN PAS

I THINK by now many Malaysians would have come to their senses about the unholy alliance in Pakatan Rakyat.

As days past by, the fiction that Pakatan Rakyat is a viable alternative to Barisan Nasional is slowing unveiling itself, with a helping hand from DAP's Lim Dynasty and ‘King’ Karpal.

Pas president Datuk Seri Hadi Awang is not only facing unwarranted attacks from Lim&Lim, Karpal and others wannabe politicians but also from within his own party.

The recent PAS muktamar had in fact strengthened the president’s influence in the party but that has given birth to an unprecedented move to topple the president at all costs.

High ranking Pas sources confirmed the existence of a movement within the party, with the blessing of party elder Datuk Nik Aziz, to end Hadi’s reign as president.

The stated reason is because Hadi Awang is an Umno stooge and that he would betray Pas, but sources say that reason is actually far from the truth.

It was understood that the spiritual advisor is breaking ties with his president solely because all ‘his boys’ from Kelantan were not voted into as decision makers in the party.

While it was the Erdogans who were conspiring to kill Ustaz Nasharuddin politically, they somehow took their own bullets and were kicked out by party delegates for being rude against the Ulama (scholars).

But now the blame is placed squarely on Hadi and Nasharuddin.

The president and deputy president of Pas are now Umno stooges, in the eyes of Nik Aziz and his boys.

And, in the eyes of his Pakatan partners, Hadi is said to be fast becoming ‘a humiliation to Pakatan Rakyat’.

Is Hadi/Nasharuddin an embarrassment to Pakatan Rakyat or is Pakatan Rakyat a bigger embarrassment and shame to Malaysia?

So much for Malay unity. While it's okay for Nik Aziz' Pas to sleep with DAP a simple muzakarah with Umno, as suggested by Hadi and Nasharuddin, is forbidden.

Who is the traitor here?

I wonder where the Prime Minister wannabe, not Husam but his boss Anwar Ibrahim, is?

TRUTH HURTS

'We believe that the 1Malaysia slogan is not capable of creating a more conducive condition because Umno and BN have their internal problems and this has made them dis-united." – PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang in his opening speech at the three-day 55th Pas Muktamar.

Abdul Hadi was just stating the obvious, particularly the part about ‘missing’ unity in Barisan Nasional. As the lynchpin, Umno’s unity is paramount to effectively lead the coalition.

Born through sincere friendship and solidarity more than a decade after independence, the BN partnership is undoubtedly experiencing its biggest test for continued survival but, do members of this once unassailable coalition realize this?

It’s not a critical situation, but when you’re in the grave it would be too late for anything and everything.

Hope the true partners in Barisan Nasional, will stand up and face the test with the same courage and hard work that prevailed during the early stages of this nation.

Umno shouldn’t be forced to bear the burden of holding the diverse coalition together while other partners are busy with their very own narrow survival stunts.

Just note the squabbles and conflicting vibes from MCA, MIC, Gerakan and the latest being our PPP.

Do we need this? Are the partners in BN truly aware of the prevailing situation on the ground?

The FACT remains that BN is the social/political force that has brought us thus far in our illustrious journey before/after Independence in 1957 and the subsequent formation of the Federation of Malaysia in 1963.

Fact aside the TRUTH is that if the partners in BN fail to buck-up the coalition’s history might just end.

I THINK Abdul Hadi is actually doing a favour, thank him.

An interesting email from a friend ...

The Money Cycle.

It is August. In a small town on the South Coast of France, the holiday season is in full swing, but it is raining so there is not too much business happening. Everyone is heavily in debt.

Luckily, a rich Russian tourist arrives in the foyer of the small local hotel. He asks for a room and puts a Euro100 note on the reception counter,takes a key and goes to inspect the room located up the stairs on the third floor.

The hotel owner takes the banknote in hurry and rushes to his meat supplier to whom he owes E100. The butcher takes the money and races to his supplier to pay his debt.

The wholesaler rushes to the farmer to pay E100 for pigs he purchased sometime ago.
The farmer triumphantly gives the E100 note to a local prostitute who gave him her services on credit.

The prostitute goes quickly to the hotel, as she owed the hotel for her hourly room use to entertain clients.

At that moment, the rich Russian is coming down to reception and informs thehotel owner that the proposed room is unsatisfactory and takes his E100 backand departs.

There was no profit or income. There was NO real economic activity. But everyone no longer has any debt and the small town people look optimistically towards their future.

If you are a realistic Malaysian and happen to have felt or still have a tinge of love or loyalty to this nation, then you can’t help but admire Tun Dr.Mahathir Mohamad for what he stood and still stands for.

Not only because he was once our Prime Minister but more so for who Dr.Mahathir is, in person and in the eyes of the world.

I think no one is perfect and Dr.Mahathir may not be an exception but is he not a good example, if not an excellent example for us and to our future generation?

He is among the best brains, indisputably a respected leader in the world today whose ideas, thoughts and advice are much sought after, even by roaring new economic tigers like China.

But what is it that some Malaysians are now so worried about him or more specifically the so-called Mahathirism (a term coined by a bunch of free-for-all foreigners and their local lackeys)?

Dr.Mahathir, and I’m sure a big chunk of Malaysians, are not fans of absolute democracy and the constant ‘abuse’ of the man-made system by the crusaders.

The new culture of street demonstrations and unruly politics are, in my opinion, among the ugly heads of absolute democracy that could lead us to a YELLOW and RED situation like in Thailand.

Just think about the price Thailand has to pay.

Mahathirism is, without any foundation, given a negative connotation with the aim of tarnishing Dr.Mahathir’s image while preventing the present Government from taking action against the so-called crusaders of democracy.

Whether it is out of fear or pure envy, equating Mahathirism to some form of dictatorship is nothing but cheap scare-mongering.

At present the mongering is done by those who are terrified that their rein as ‘cowboys’ during the premiership of Tun Abdullah Badawi might lead them to jail under the 1Malaysia leadership.

So one of the options is to try and silence the enforcement authorities in the name of absolute freedom, the only ingredient of democracy that attracts all and sundry now including the Bar Council.

If, in the eyes of those who coined it and who tirelessly vilify, Mahathirism is about stricter enforcement of ‘the law of the land’ … I’m all for it.

Why not, if its in the best interest of Malaysia?

Too late. It was way too late for the Regent of Perak to say that he did not want any part in the fracas in the state assembly. What happened on May 7 did not materialise out of nowhere. It did not happen in a vacuum.

The tug-of-war for power in Perak was a natural consequence of a refusal by the Sultan of Perak to dissolve the assembly and allow Perakians to decide who should represent them.

Respect has to be earned, even if you are next in line to the throne.
Admonishing the very lawmakers who many Malaysians feel are the victims in this saga is not a good start. "

Dr Mahathir Receives Registration Certificate For Yacht 'Apanama'

LANGKAWI, May 7 (Bernama) -- Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad on Thursday received the registration certificate for his yacht "Apanama".

Transport Minister Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat who presented the certificate to Dr Mahathir said registration of the 100th yacht was made under Langkawi international yacht registration.

The yacht "Apanama," being built by a local company is scheduled for completion by Sept.

Ong said Dr Mahathir was responsible for creating an international boat registration system and for making Malaysia a world yacht destination.

"We hope to register 150 yachts by year end, including those of mega size," he added.

Launched in 2003, international boat registration has received good response from the local and international maritime communities.

DAP wants Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to quit as well!

Well informed sources within the Lim Dynasty have confirmed of a major rift in the party due to Parti Keadilan Rakyat’s monkey-business in Penang.

For once Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng seems to have found his lost guts and is said to be at odds with his father Kit Siang and PKR advisor Anwar for the Penanti-saga.

High ranking party officials from both Petaling Jaya and Penang vouch that Guan Eng enjoys the full support of Chairman Karpal Singh.

The DAP, except for Kit Siang, wants Anwar Ibrahim to stop his unethical brand of politics and start working as a Member of Parliament for Permatang Pauh.

Some very senior DAP leaders have also openly called for Anwar to VACATE his Permatang Pauh seat and clear his name from the SODOMY charges, exactly as how he FORCED Penang Deputy Chief Minister Fairus to vacate the Penanti state seat.

Guan Eng is also furious because even other PKR leaders have started meddling in the internal affairs of Penang, with some even dictating what the Chief Minister should do and when he should just SHUT UP.

So, will Anwar Ibrahim vacate his seat? I doubt he would, especially when YB Elly is still enjoying the limelight.

Talk about NAKED TRUTH!

Datuk Seri Najib Tun Abdul Razak will be (God Willing) sworn in as our 6th Prime Minister in less than 24 hours.

A huge majority of Malaysians, I strongly believe, are waiting for the historic moment while the disgruntled are still busy with their last ditch attempt to further tarnish the incoming Prime Minister’s image.

These irresponsible beings know for a fact that their ludicrous antics would come to an end once Najib takes control of the Government and the day to day running of the country.

They know, more specifically their main instigator Anwar Ibrahim and his band of goons in the like of Lim Kit Siang and Hadi Awang know pretty well that the Abdullah-era ‘circus’ would end by mid-day tomorrow.

The fear of having to face a hands-on leader who could not be fooled with their antics has driven Anwar and his goons up the wall, and their running dogs have been busy with some unscrupulous last minute conspiracies.

One of which is via the Short Messaging Service.

One too many SMSs have been making their rounds and this time these idiots have even dragged in the Yang DiPertuan Agong Sultan Mirzan into their cheap antics.

One SMS claimed that the YDP AGONG has rejected Najib as the next PM while another says the KING wants to appoint Abdullah as a Senior Minister.

PARTI KEADILAN RAKYAT Adviser Anwar Ibrahim’s Penang Deputy Chief Minister Mohammad Fairus Khairuddin was arrested in Johor Bahru while trying to sneak out to Singapore late last night.

The arrest of the 33-year old DEPUTY CHIEF MINISTER, by Immigration and later by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, was for his alleged involvement in high-level ‘CORRUPTION & ABUSE OF POWER’ in PENANG.

I thought LIM GUAN ENG’s PENANG was supposed to be the cleanest among the super-clean states under Pakatan Rakyat.

It’s just slightly over ONE YEAR since the so-called Pakatan Rakyat came into power in ‘Pearl of the Orient’ and their TRUE COLORS seem to be splashing everywhere.

So much for all the accusations against Barisan Nasional, especially GERAKAN & UMNO.

Comments in this blog (some couldn’t be published for their harsh words against Guan Eng & Kit Siang) suggests that Guan Eng in now Anwar’s official NO.1 lapdog.

I really hope that is not true as we could have a better Malaysia without Anwar Ibrahim.

But Guan Eng, what happened to you?

Is Anwar holding anything against the DAP Chief Minister … like in the case of the PKR Deputy Chief Minister whom he granted LEAVE ?

Fairuz is still the DEPUTY CHIEF MINISTER, so shouldn't you call for an emergency sitting of the State Assembly, Mr.Chief Minister?

PENANG, March 20 (Bernama) -- Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said he approved the leave application by his deputy, Mohamad Fairus Khairuddin on the request of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) adviser Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

"I was informed by Anwar that Fairus wanted leave, so I approved his application," he said quashing talks that Fairus was sacked as Deputy Chief Minister I."

MALACCA Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ali Rustam was FOUND GUILTY of breaching party rules (read money politics) and BARRED from contesting for the Deputy President’s post by the Umno Disciplinary Board.

Umno Youth Chief hopeful Khairy Jamaluddin a.k.a KJ, was also FOUND GUILTY (shout money politics!!!!!) by the same Umno Disciplinary Board but was NOT BARRED from contesting in the party polls.

Ali Rustam and his confidantes should know what they did or have been doing … or failed to do.

Its time for Ali and his supporters to take a leaf from the Honourable Negeri Sembilan ex-Mentri Besar Tan Sri Isa Samad who, despite being fixed by his political enemies, accepted his fate and remains loyal to Umno till this day.

The Malacca Chief Minister’s close aides are confident that he would accept the Disciplinary Board’s decision on him but not the board’s BLATANT DOUBLE-STANDARDS in its decision.

There are a few questions in the air –

1. WHY KHAIRY JAMALUDDIN WAS FOUND GUILTY BUT NOT GUILTY?

2. HOW COULD AN UMNO MEMBER WHO HAS BEEN FOUND GUILTY OF MONEY POLITICS BE ALLOWED TO CONTEST IN THE PARTY POLLS?

3. WAS KHAIRY NOT BARRED BECAUSE HE IS DATUK SERI ABDULLAH AHMAD BADAWI’S FEARED SON-IN-LAW?

4. WHY … WHY SUCH DOUBLE STANDARDS AT A TIME WHEN THE WHOLE NATION IS WATCHING UMNO’S EVERY MOVE?

5. KHAIRY HAS A TAINTED IMAGE NOW, TO BE EXACT THE DISCIPLINARY BOARD HAS ENDORSED THAT HE IS CORRUPT AND HAD BREACHED PARTY RULES … WHAT ELSE DO WE NEED TO KEEP HIM OUT OF THE PARTY POLLS?

p/s Maybe Datuk Seri Ali Rustam should appeal the Umno Disciplinary Board’s decision based on the board’s verdict on KJ.

When the political conspiracy “to Kill Rafidah and Shahrizat’ failed, the gutsy Minister who is a known KJ sidekick and among Abdullah Badawi’s top lackeys was pushed forward to be an Umno Supreme Council candidate.

The Fourth Floor agents were all around the country, greasing palms with Ringgit Malaysia, to ensure their preferred list of candidates qualified for the Umno Polls later this month.

The list includes Ali Rustam for the Deputy President’s post.

But their fate turned from ZOOM to DOOM when one of their key players, sitting Supreme Council member Datuk Norza Zakaria was ARRESTED by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission after his political corruption was exposed in Temerloh.

Norza’s arrest has spilled the beans, and now it’s time for the Domino Effect.

The arrest of Azalina’s aides, her Political Secretary and Personal Assistant, and the Tourism Minister’s impending DATE with the MACC is indeed a good omen for Umno.

KUALA LUMPUR (March 6, 2009) : The political secretary of a senior cabinet minister was detained and quizzed for several hours by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) late Wednesday before he was released on bail early yesterday.
The man was detained for alleged graft involving more than RM70,000 and had his statements recorded.
It is learnt that MACC officers found a very large amount of cash in the secretary's car during the midnight swoop.
His arrest comes at a time when Umno leaders are gearing up in full force for the last campaign stretch of the party elections less than three weeks away.
