Cotton CanDbones Shoes - Candies for my Candy

-I made these candies for my Candy!-

and therefore, shouldn't be compared to the other shoes I've done as well as those which are due to appear on this blog.

And to be honest with you, it took me and Candy dearest months (!!) to figure out how these shoes is going to look like.

I love it that she's actually took part in suggesting the designs cos that's what make this
very personal.

The theme for this one is Candy skeleton feet in cotton candy colors (which we decided to name it CanDbones, later on).
The challenge was to have them simple, yet unique in its own special way.
The Skeleton feet was sorta like the trademark (TM) design we chose to put on these babies.

-specially whole painted interiors like non other-

And she chose to have the feet in cotton candy pink! because she thinks she's 'candyallover' as to mine, 'dirtyallover'. Heh

-we come in a pair-

The unique thing about these shoes are what I called, the 'invisible-touch-feel' patterns which are bound all over the painted surface. So basically, one can only feel the patterns when the surface is touched.
It's this new thing I came out with! And I wanted this to be original one-of-a-kind thing for her.

This is actually a belated birthday gift I've been working on. long before I decided to take commissions for customize painted shoes.

Here's hoping for her to come home soon to pick them up.

And I hope she likes these shoes I made for her...

Because I've put my heart and soul and love into creating them.

Wear this!

Well unfortunately, it isn't for sale lorr...

I reckoned that the front section of this trucker hat above the bill is made of foam so I need to find out if the paint sits well on the hat after a few wash.
It's not the acrylic paint that I am worried about (cos practically they just stick on everything!) but the Sharpie permanent marker I applied on it might bleed if water is applied on to the surface.
I'm yet to find out!

Unlike shoes, caps need to be washed from time to time and I think I'm gonna try hand washing instead as it is more likely to inflicts less damages to the paintwork.

Quality control, baby!

And if the paint job doesn't wear off, I'll consider having customize trucker hats for sale in the future.

Kickin It Cupcakes!

I'm done and through with cupcakes for a while!
I don't think I can eat or look at cupcakes without having the urge to puke.

Right side
the colorful sprinkles on the white cupcake actually pop out of the surface,
just like the real thing. And no, they're not edible!

Each individual cupcake is different. For once I almost ran out of ideas!

The sides are monogram patterns of little red hearts and cupcakes.
Yep, like your fake Louise Vuitton handbag!

I guess you can tell that these shoes are made specially for one very cupcake obsessed girl,
who is currently doing her degree in law but dreams to be pastry chef someday.

The other pair is still in progress, though. Will give y'all a full preview once both shoes are completed!

I have to admit that I was so stoked I only painted one shoe LOL!
The other pair will be filled with assorted cupcakes as well but totally different from the ones you see on this shoe.

This is a really fun project and I'm looking forward to get them done
within these couple of days!

Ask me to bake something and you may have to give the fire department my house address in advance, just in case. Thank you.

And this is for not updating my blog often.

I adore those who are so busy with work and their lives and yet capable of updating their blog as frequently as possibly.

What's going on with my life?
Well, nothing interesting, really...

But If you insist. I have, in a way, started on a small side project (as my secondary source of income cos I don't think I'm earning enough from the primary ;p) doing customized shoes and other artsy fartsy stuff!
I am currently working on a few pairs of sneakers, trucker caps and other stuff. Pics will be uploaded each time I'm done with one item,
I promise!

Also, I need everyone's opinion.
Whether if I should upload my crafts elsewhere, like an online boutique to display and sell my custom shoes and all that, y'know...?

Speaking of updating by the way, I find myself unable to focus on blogging, being the woman of the house (part time housemaid y'all!) and work all at the same time, though I did claim to be a 'multi-tasker'
(Maybe I'm not, after all...)

Oh yaaaaaa.......I almost forgot!!! I was told yesterday that one of my artwork is being used for a very popular PC game, The Sims 3!!!
No shit!!

The Sims happens to be my favorite PC game especially the first one. I was kinda obsessed with it and collected every single expansion pack of that awesome game when I was like 17-18!
(Don't believe me?? Ask my sister lol)

Skeleton Shoes: Rad D-bone SE

If you read my previous post, y'all would've guessed by now that I was workin on another shoe project.

Only this time I am commissioned to paint them for my dad's friend's daughter.

My dad's friend from KL saw my red skeleton shoes the other day while we were having lunch together. Amazed by the fact that I painted them myself, he took a picture with his built in camera phone and MMS-ed the image to his teenage daughter in KL.

Anyway, later that evening he called to ask if I could paint 2 pairs of shoes for his daughter.
One would be a similar version of my skeleton shoes and the other pair would be.....

This pair actually took me about 15 hours to complete rather than the hasty first one I made for myself which only took 6 hours.

And because I am hired to paint these babies, I've put in some extra paintwork and details.
Here's hoping the owner would fine the shoes a delight. Heh

This time, the skeleton feet are measured and carefully drawn on the shoes.

I remembered some readers suggested that I paint the back and the sides of the shoes as well rather than leaving them blank.

Well, you asked fer it!

Lately, dear mom asked me if I could sign up an email account for her. She also expressed her sudden interest in learning the computer and surfing the net.
(We're dealing with someone who has never given a hoot about computers in her life before)

What do I think?

Two words:
Strangle Me!

The worse that could happen is I'll lose some sanity teaching her how to use her email and the
World Wide Web.
Manning a computer?
Take me to the highest sky scrapper so I can jump off it,
thank you very much!

Okay, perhaps teaching her how to send emails isn't as bad as it seem...

Two Saturdays ago, I was ~~made a lab rat~~ modeling for an experiment photoshoot (if you can call it that. heh)
The person behind the lens would be my dear friend, Balqiz, whom is an aspiring photographer.
A freelance.

A couple of weeks earlier, she asked me if I wanted to be photographed as she was looking to experiment on what she called, dramatic portraiture. Something out of the norm for her as she is more into taking photographs of children and the like.

Location of this photoshoot was at skate park in Taman Awam, Miri.
The session lasted for an hour or so.
I am posting just a few shots here and I'll leave it to her to show you the rest. Which can be viewed in her photoblog.

I believe she's still working on the rest of the pics from the photoshoot
so stay tune to Damndirtyangel for updates or you can simply go back to her photoblog to check out her awesome stuff from time to time.

I know, I know. I've been M.I.A for more than a week so help me blog traffic god.

Well, things are different at home now that mom has a new job, which requires her to work 12 hrs a day, 5 days a week.
And since I am working from home, the chores and duties are handed down to me. Including groceries and preparing lunch and dinner (cos dad prefers eating in).

Yep, I'm the housemaid of the Umong's resident for now, hence the slow updates.
I'm gonna need some time to organized my
schedule.

When it's time to get a new pair of boxer shorts

There's this one thing about me that everyone should know.
When I have something I really like I tend to get really attached to it for
a long time.

Like clothes for example.

I have been wearing this one favorite pair of boxer shorts for more than 5-6 years now.
Comfy as a smelly pillow, I swear!
Of course I have a few more in the wardrobe but this particular pair has been with me the longest.

You might wonder if a piece of cloth can really last that long through all the wearing,
washing and hanging out under the weather... Why yes! I am still wearing mine!
Though the faded color shows its age, there isn't any
tear on the rear (where the butt crack is), it is decent enough to wear at home.
It's just that the shorts no longer stay on my waist, see? I have to keep pulling it up and adjusting from time to time to keep it from falling off me.
I don't mind, really.

But it's telling me a brand new pair.

I can be ignorant sometimes.

Yesterday I was picking up the dry laundry outside in the back porch.
I couldn't find any empty laundry basket lying around the house. I went out to do the chore without
Hero, I tell you.
And I've learned it the hard way that I should never ever wear my loose boxer shorts while doing the house chores.

Why?

Bcos when I was carrying the huge bundle of dry clothes in my arms, my old shorts decided
to fall off!!
So technically, if my next door neighbors were outside, I would have given them the 'strip show of the century' cos my ass and ding-dong were showing!
I tried to make a quick dash to the back door without much success cos my boxer was hanging
between my knees. I moved like a penguin.

Letting the clothes drop on the dirty tiled floor was not an option
but I thought, even if the neighbors saw me, they wouldn't be quick enough to see the rest of my goodies, right?

Hmm, I remember being accused as an exhibitionist
a while back.

Oh well, you'll only live once...

(and thank goodness I shaved!)

It's a fact!

We are suckers for hair product advertisements and we all know how they tend to convince us that their products actually work wonders to our locks.

I tell you, don't believe everything you see on TV!

I am actually one of those suckers. I admit it!
I try to make believe that the hair products I am currently using do make my hair look smoother, silkier, healthier and shinier...

but that is all in my head, of course.

Sometimes, I think my hair has a mind of its own....

The ladies say, "Arth, if you really want you hair to look amazing, don't be hesitate to spend a hundred bucks or two or three at the salon, it's worth it!"

And my mind tells me, "Hey, if I can grab my hands on whatever stuff the salon has, I can go D.I.Y fo sho and save lotsa moolah!! and hell yeah I would definitely look as if I just walked out of a Schwarzkopf (isthathowyouspellit?) Ad, yo!"

And what's the name of that salon you told me to visit??

I am terribly sorry!

I've wanted to post another comic strip today but my scanner is busted!!

AAAARRGGHHHH!!!!

This is the second time my unreliable Hewlett Packard Officejet 5510 scanner/printer (YES, I am pointing this out directly to the manufacturer!!!) died out on me!!
Yesterday it worked perfectly fine but today it wouldn't do anything to me at all! cibai..

I am pissed beyond all fury!

I figured there will be less comics this time around but I will try my best to get my scanner fixed or at least try to hire someone to scan all my artwork in the mean time.

Dad was complainin to me about the worn out letters on my computer keyboard not too long ago.
Well, just because he's the kind of user who has to seek for every single button when typin, he finds my old (or should I mention cheap) keyboard almost impossible to use.

Seriously, I am not stingy but lemme ask you folks out there.
"Why buy a new one if you can fix it with your own bare hands?"

After all, it's recession time and aren't we supposed to put our moolah for better use??

Nanyhoos, to fix this you wont need talent of any kind... Okay, perhaps having a fairly good handwriting would be an added bonus.
However, you will need an acrylic paint (color has to be the same with the ones on the keyboard, of course) and a fine brush and you're good to go!

Now, just fill in the blanks...

There you go, dad.... Problem fixed!

I actually have an a few comic strips to upload here but I thought I should blog about my latest project.

A few day ago, I was strollin' around Miri Old Town and I came across an imitation of a plain white Vans slip-ons so I thought, "why not?"
I might as well buy another pair for my collection!
Y'know, as they say, "you can never have enough"

When I got home, I tried hard to think of a design to paint on the shoes but failed to come out with any so I'd decided to sleep it off and think about it the following day.

However, the design came in my dream and I woke very early just to sketch it out on a piece of paper before I forget how it look like.

I blame it on my short term memory. Heh

I thought of a dragon/monster feet theme this time and when I started sketching the design on the shoes with a pencil, I was a little worried that it might not turn out as nice and honestly, I was close to change the design to something else.

But as I added more details on the shoe, it began to turn out pretty nice.
In fact, better than what I had expected earlier on.

In case you're wondering why I made them look cartoon-ish, well, it's because I wanted it to look fun and wacky. It's not the realistic rugged appeal I was tryin to achieve but give me an airbrush set, I would definitely had gone for the 3 dimensional look.

This one took me about 2 days to finish and I must say, I'm quite satisfied with the end result. The scales on the dragon feet made them look like wicked, doncha think so?

Every creation has a name so I named this pair, 'Kreeture' as in Creature.

Oh, if you didn't know, I made a pair of custom pair like these for Halloween last year and you can view it *here* (also shows you step by step how the whole shoe is done).
Btw, I didn't pour much effort on the old pair but I love em nonetheless cos people seem to be amused by them whenever I wear em out. Heh

I was in the midst of drawing a comic strip then suddenly I thought of another one (which seems to occur to me all the time) so I figured I start working on the new strip as well. I do this to prevent myself from losing precious ideas.
Nanyways, This will be my excuse for not posting a comic today. Instead, the strip will be published on the next post, I promise.

However, to break my six day of silence, I've decided to show you a few work related stuff I've been working on lately.
(Last time I checked, I am still a tattoo artist)
I've tons of ideas lately and I was afraid that my think tank might overflow.
