Correct Sizes

Be sure to take time and measure for the correct bracelet size before ordering. There are two simple ways to do this: Measure a favorite bracelet of the person whom you are purchasing the bracelet for. Make sure and measure from end to end. Also, you can measure the person's wrist and add about an inch to this measurement. This will give you the bracelet size to order. If you do happen to order a bracelet that is an incorrect size, restringing fees at this point are $5. This covers the restringing and return shipping of the bracelet.

October Breast Cancer Awareness Month

According to the Medical News Today "The American Cancer Society estimates that women have a 1 in 8 lifetime chance of developing breast cancer. It is the second most common cause of cancer death in women, and the main risk factors are being female and age. Family history, personal history of certain cancers, no pregnancies or pregnancy later in life, early menarche, late menopause, obesity, alcohol intake, and use of hormone therapy can also increase a woman's risk. With an estimated 178,480 new cases of breast cancer in 2007 and more than 40,000 deaths, there is reason for concern. Encouraging women to be vigilant and to do what they can to reduce their individual risk may help allay fears about the disease. When caught early, odds of survival are high-5-year survival rates are as high as 98%. Advances in early detection and treatment have led to a 2.3% annual decrease in mortality from 1990 to 2002." Arts and Crafts in the Park

Sunday, September 9th from 9-5 will be the annual Arts and Crafts in the Park at Newtown Park in Lawrenceburg on the corner of U.S 50 and Main Street. This is always a great craft show with all handmade goods! I will be taking orders for customized jewelry this day as well as selling premade jewelry there at the show. I hope to see you there!

September Special

Cream and brown are definitely colors I think of for Fall. This Cream Pearl and Bronze jewelry set is one of the first sets of jewelry I made for myself years ago and is still one of my favorites that I wear often! Each bronze pearl is accented with Bali bead caps and also has thinner Bali beads throughout. For the month of September you can purchase one or all three pieces of this set. Clasp Changes

I am slowly making a few changes to the bracelet designs and hope to have the website updated soon. Effective immediately all three and four strand bracelets will be made with a toggle clasp and not a lobster claw clasp. The reason for this is that with three to four strands it tends to be harder for some to clasp with a lobster claw. With a toggle clasp these larger bracelets are much more manageable to secure. If, however, you still would like a three or four strand bracelet with a lobster clasp, simply e-mail me and your order can be made as you wish. Thanks!

Summerfest Arts and Crafts Show

The yearly "Raspberry Festival" in Batesville has changed it's name to "Summerfest Arts and Crafts Show and Car Show". The dates for this show are Friday, July 13th and Saturday, July 14th. Multi-purpose Bracelets

Often I receive e-mails and orders from customers that would like an "Aunt" bracelet or "Friend" bracelet or even "Sister" bracelet. A great bracelet that has a multi-purpose use is the "Grandmother" bracelet. The style of the "Grandmother" bracelet allows one to convert this to an "Aunt" bracelet by having the word "Aunt" in the middle with all of her nieces and nephews birthstones around the letter blocks. Spring Forward

Beginning in 2007, most of the United States begins Daylight Saving Time at 2:00 a.m. on the second Sunday in March and reverts to standard time on the first Sunday in November. In the U.S., each time zone switches at a different time.
On August 8, 2005, President George W. Bush signed the Energy Policy Act of 2005. This Act changed the time change dates for Daylight Saving Time in the U.S. Beginning in 2007, DST will begin on the second Sunday in March and end the first Sunday in November. The Secretary of Energy will report the impact of this change to Congress. Congress retains the right to resume the 2005 Daylight Saving Time schedule once the Department of Energy study is complete. Merry Christmas!

I want to wish all of you a very merry Christmas! This has been a wonderful year in many ways and I am so very blessed! I thought this month I would share an e-mail I received a few months ago about the little things in life. During the tragedy of September 11th a few years ago, many survived because of "little things" that kept them from being on that plane, going to work on time, etc. Here are a few on the list:

A head of a company survived 9/11...because his son started kindergarten. Another fellow was alive because it was His turn to bring donuts. One woman was late because her alarm clock didn't go off in time. One was late because of being stuck on the NJ Turnpike because of an auto accident. One of them missed his bus. One spilled food on her clothes and had to take time to change. One's car wouldn't start. One went back to answer the telephone. One had a child that dawdled and didn't get ready as soon as he should have. One couldn't get a taxi. One put on a new pair of shoes that morning, took the various means to get to work but before he got there, he developed a blister on his foot. He stopped at a drugstore to buy a box of Band-Aids. That is why he is alive today. Now when I am stuck in traffic , miss an elevator, turn back to answer a ringing telephone... All the little things that annoy me... I think to myself, this is exactly where God wants me to be at this very moment ... The next time your morning seems to be going wrong, the children are slow getting dressed, you can't seem to find the car keys, you hit every traffic light, don't get mad or frustrated; God is at work watching over you. May God continue to bless you with all those annoying little things and may you remember their possible purpose.

Upcoming Craft Shows

There are two very nice craft shows coming up this month. The first is at Versailles Elementary School on Saturday, November 11th from 10-2. This is the annual Tri Kappa Craft Bazaar. The second is Saturday, November 18th from 10-2 at Milan High School. I will be at both of these craft shows this year with new jewelry sets for you to purchase as well as, taking orders for Christmas. These crafts shows are a great place to start your Christmas shopping!

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Sweetest Day : Saturday, October 21st

How It Started

Over 60 years ago, a Cleveland man, believing that the city's orphans and shut-ins too often felt forgotten and neglected, conceived the idea of showing them that they were remembered. He did this through the distribution of small gifts. With the help of his friends and neighbors, he distributed these small remembrances on a Saturday in October. During the years that followed, other Clevelanders began to participate in the celebration ceremony, which came to be called "Sweetest Day". In time, the Sweetest Day idea of spreading cheer to the underprivileged was broadened to include everyone, and became an occasion for remembering others with a kind act or a small remembrance. And soon the idea spread to other cities all over the country.

What It Is

Sweetest Day is celebrated on the third Saturday in October as a day to make someone happy. It is an occasion which offers all of us an opportunity to remember not only the sick, aged, and orphaned, but also friends, relatives and associates whose helpfulness and kindness we have enjoyed.

Sweetest Day is not based on any single group's religious sentiment or on a family relationship. It is a reminder that a thoughtful word or deed enriches life and gives it meaning.

Because for many people remembering takes the form of gift-giving, Sweetest Day offers us the opportunity to show others that we care, in a tangible way.

Arts and Crafts in the Park

Sunday, September 10th is the annual "Arts and Crafts in the Park" at Newtown Park on the corner of US 50 and Main Street in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. This is always a great craft show that permits handmade crafts only. The event starts at 9:00 and ends at 5:00. I will be set up near the fountain. Stop by and see some of the new necklaces, bracelets, and earrings available! Also, I will be taking orders for customized jewelry that day. Many come to this show every year to begin their Christmas shopping! Hope to see you there!

Batesville Raspberry Festival

Friday, July 7th and Saturday, July 8th will be the Batesville Raspberry Festival. Make your plans to come out these days and visit our booth. To keep your jewelry shiny and beautiful, remember these few quick tips:

*Store jewelry in a clean, dry container when not wearing

*Avoid exposure to harsh chemicals and cleaners

*Avoid over exposure to hot showers, hot tubs, etc.

*Clean jewelry with DRY jewelry wipes, not liquid cleaner. You can find dry jewelry wipes in most jewelry sections of your local store. With a little buffing from time to time you can keep your sterling silver jewelry as shiny as when you first purchased it!
