"As for the current state of the Marvels, I don't hate any of it. For Shazam to continue, it has to change somewhat to reflect current continuity."

"This story could have filled more than three issues, as it is very ambitious in scope. But it's goal is to help refocus the whole Shazam mythology, and as both Captain Marvel and Black Adam were JSA members, the JSA are not just "shoe-horned" into their own story. It's all very organic, the way the pieces fall into place."

Jerry Ordway will be Appearing at the NY Comic Con!

Yep, Jerry will once again be appearing at the New York Comic Con. The Con runs February 6-8, 2009 and Jerry will be there on Friday, February 6 and Sunday, February 8 and will be signing both days at the DC Comics booth.

On Friday, February 6, Jerry will be on the NYCC Classes: Pencils panel from 4:30pm-5:30pm in room 1A15. The panel description is:

“See how real professional artists break down a script and thumbnail a page. Actual working pros show you how they determine the layout, the story flow, and specific panels from a real comic book script. Featuring Georges Jeanty, Cully Hamner, and Jerry Ordway.”

Jerry has also donated a piece of art to benefit The Hero Initiative. The piece should be of massive interest to all Captain Marvel fans as it is a team-up with Golden Age artist, Emilio Squeglio! Here's a small shot with Emilio's half.

“Comic creator charity The Hero Initiative will roll out a massive original art auction at the 2009 New York Comic Con! Pieces from John Romita, Sr., John Romita, Jr., Darwyn Cooke, Jae Lee, Steve Rude, Jim Starlin, Terry Moore, Karl Kesel and MORE will be included! A live auction of major, MAJOR pieces will take place at the con on Saturday, Feb. 7 from 6:30 to 7:30 PM in room 1A14. More pieces will be available in a silent auction at the Hero Initiative booth (1762) on the convention floor. Make sure and check back often as we update this page select pieces from the auction leading up to the con!”

Now Jerry O reteams with Jurgens for the final two chapters of the HISTORY OF THE MULTIVERSE back-up in COUNTDOWN #39 and 38 on sale August 1 and 8, 2007.

Superman Commissions!

Here are a couple of nice commissions that Jerry did of everybody's favorite Man of Steel. That's a nice head-and-shoulders shot and a great action shot of Superman busting out of chains. The big question, of course, is who chained him up in the first place and why did he think chains would hold the Man of Tomorrow? Unless they're Kryptonite chains! But then ... oh, never mind!

Wildstorm's RED MENACE Keeps On Hammering with #4

Jerry Ordway's collaboration with inker Al Vey and writers Danny Bilson, Paul DeMio and Adam Brody just hit the two-thirds mark with #4 released a little over a week ago. There's two more issues to go in this action-packed tale that takes place during the McCarthy hearings of the 1950s.

RED MENACE also had the distinction of having two variant covers. Darwyn Cooke did the variant honors for #1, while Mike Kaluta did the variant cover for number #2.

If you haven't been black-listed and tossed into the slammer by Joe McCarthy, head on down to your local comics shop and pick up the first four issues -- they're probably still in stock and tell them that The Mountain and The Mole sent you!

The Eagle has Landed - RED MENACE Coming This Fall!

Jerry Ordway's secret project was revealed, today, at the San Diego Comic-Con and in the pages of TV Guide!

Jerry and inker, Al Vey, will team with writers Danny Bilson and Paul DeMeo (writers of THE FLASH) along with O.C. TV star, Adam Brody, for a 6-issue Wildstorm mini-series titled RED MENACE.

The story involves the HUAC, blacklisting of super-heroes and Senator Joseph McCarthy.

Waiting for the San Diego announcement was tough, especially after TV Guide broke the story this week in the July 24th issue.

DC Comics' Senior VP, Executive Editor Dan Didio announced some very cool Ordway-related news in his weekly DC Nation column that runs in the back of DC's super-hero related titles. Dan had this to say about DaOrdster...

Not all exclusives are new ones. Re-upping for another term at DC is longtime fan-favorite artist Jerry Ordway. Jerry, whose rich pencils and inks were last seen in the Earth-Two portions of INFINITE CRISIS, over the last several years has split time between working on projects for both the DC Universe and WildStorm. And while we love our cross-country cousins, I'm happy to say that Jerry's next work will be writing and drawing a secret JSA project for his longtime editor and friend Mike Carlin.

Well, that sounds intriguing. The JOW will bring you more info as it becomes available!

INFINITE CRISIS SECRET FILES Hits the Streets!

The long anticipated INFINITE CRISIS SECRET FILES hit the newsstands today. Written by Marv Wolfman and drawn by Dan Jurgens it tells the secret history of the Earth-2 Superman and Lois Lane as well as the Earth-3 Alex Luthor and the Earth-Prime Superboy.
