I was a paid Platinum onemodleplace member for several years. I was listed as a publisher of which there were only about 175 in total. My company name included a .com at the end because we were a virtual publisher. After 3 and a half years they decided that the .com needed to be deleted off my main title. They said it was a company policy. All the watermarks on our pics had our web site name. Our profile text had our web site name. Our link was to our web site. I could not understand the logic at all. We were not an onemodleplace competitor either. So I told Brett that I would have to delete the account because he wouldn't allow me to be listed by my brand. The name without the .com was just a generic word.

After a few months went by I decided to do a search and low and behold I found more than a half dozen publishers and scores of photographers that used .com in their title. I blew gasket. Apparently their "company policy" is enforced only when they feel like it. Don't trust these fools one bit. They had it all and now it's slipping away. Good riddance!

I hear this a lot; The inconsistent management and enforcement. If you stay on the good side, you are golden. But say anything negative, and they enforce whatever rule they made up that day. It has happened to me.

Thank you for providing the alternatives to onemodelplace.com. I truly understand when you say there is no recourse or appeal process when your profile is suspended. I could go into more details in the future, but I just wanted to log my complaint with your blog. I have had the opportunity to observe this clown (Brett of onemodelplace) in action. His appearance and personality kept me off guard to the unfair and ruthless person he really is. I was a published magazine photographer for many years before I got involved with onemodelplace. I made the mistake of attending cheesy onemodelplace events. All it took was one complaint from a beginner model, for Brett to delete my account at onemodelplace. The one complaint was the angle of my photos. How ridiculous. An amateur model has the nerve to tell a seasoned professional from New York and Paris, how to do photos? onemodelplace models are all cheap dogs, anyway. This is what happens when you work with people below your level. The main issue is that the jealous Brett was looking for an excuse to dump me from the site. He wants all "his models" for himself.

*Note: I do not believe all the models are cheap dogs; as this is lumping all of them into one stereotype. There will be good and bad in every model portfolio site. It just comes with the territory. Same goes with photographers. But they do have to get started and places like onemodel modelmayhem are a vehicles to that end. I wish good luck to all the newbie models. And remember model portfolio sites are just a tool for marketing yourself; you still have to get out and do the leg work. Jobs just don't come to you!

Well its Official. Onemodelplace is going down hill....

What you are seeing is a Traffic History Graph for onemodelplace.com over a 3 year period. As you can see its a pretty steady drop downhill. If you see the sharp spike down in late 2005; that is when onemodelplace was down for over a week due to a hurricane in FL.

Onemodelplace.com has a traffic rank of: 11,687, where as one of its leading competitors, Modelmayhem.com has a traffic rank of: 3548 (lower is better!)

So... it doesn't look very good for our boys in FL. Sad to see you go guys!

My question is this; if Brett Cramer is such a big time player in the modeling biz, why isn't he located and based where the business actually IS. Last I heard Ft Lauderdale wasn't the capital of the modeling industry. Also, he has no legitimate credentials and endorsements, just little contests and merchandising schemes. He is always quick to bully his members, but I have never heard his name mentioned amongst legitimate agencies or well established photographers, it's always little girls and guys with cameras who live in a world that consists of on dialogue; "TFP? NUDES? TFP?" ... I never even heard of that phrase until I fell into OMP, if he likes acronyms so much, perhaps instead of OMP, it should be called OMP/TFP or something of that nature.

I also started getting responses for entities who signed their missives as "employee # 35" and stupid shit like that, wouldn't even use a name, so you never knew who you were dealing with, Dear Employee # 35. It was stupid....

It is obvious that Brett gets off on flexing his authority and power by "kicking off" legitimate members, yet, the perverts with camera's run amuck with their continuous banter of "TFP? NUDES? TFP?". We got so many of those requests, that we went private. Check this out, we had approximately 40 models, all with OMP profiles, and ALL linked to us for approximately 4 years. In four years, NOT ONE legitimate work offer for over 40 models in four years. You seen my girls?? The hottest models around, and NOT ONE legitimate offer, it was always contingent on "TFP? NUDES? TFP?""

The other thing, they have made some photographers popular by featuring them time and time again. One comes to mind, a guy in some XXXXXXX County location, we'll call him , XXXX XXXXX, the guy is a little weasel, has NO concept of the business, tends to concentrate on "meeting girls?" and now after a few years, his work is decent, but, still I am not having multiple orgasms. Yet they act as if he is the KING of photographers. One Model Place is nothing more than a dog and pony show. It's all mirrors and smoke, as Brett continues the facade that he is somehow affiliated with the modeling industry, when in reality, he is nothing more than a slimy little rat bastard who bully's the members and then pounds his chest with both fists.

Paying to get an email

I found a model on onemodelplace that's also on deviantART (but doesn't seem to come there anymore. Its been over a year)

In this case I feel like I am being ripped of from onemodelplace. I don't feel like registering to get her email and paying a fee on top of that. You can't even send an email to the site if you're not a member. So off to Google it and see if I can find her. I bet I have better luck on MySpace at finding her.

I truly believe that onemodelplace doesn't employ any ethics. I do admit that there are some things I don't like. It does seem to be mostly people looking to hire models for porn or freebies. The work, that is offered in the casting calls, is either a sexual scma or a money scam or they are just plain rude.

People at OMP and Ujena call me unprofessional, because I disliked the Bikini Jam last year. They said a REAL model would have a good time. I just found it sleazy and a lot of the people were rude. I also don't understand what kind of contest actually COSTS the winner thousands of dollars?

I did try at ModelMayhem once and they disregarded me, because they didn't like how I looked. That was their case.

I have other sites that chase after me (my money) but, as soon as I ask if they don't mind that I am not a hottie; I never hear from them again.

I guess the reason I stay with OMP, because they don't care how I look and I cannot make much complaints cause I have no assistance and I'm in a state for poor economy.

I guess the thing I really want to ask is which one IS the good modeling site or agency??

I recently was reported to the onemodleplace moderators for not responding to requests for TFP work. At first I was interested and seeking TFP work. After the 1600 offers from porn and low-end "photographers" working out of their basements with disposable cameras, I stopped reading requests. I am sure somewhere in there were some good offers, but I am now only accepting paid work. onemodleplace banned my account.

My OneModelPlace downsized

It is with some reluctance that I reduced my subscription level in OneModelPlace, from silver to bronze membership.

When I first started out I considered OneModelPlace as a good means of recruiting models. The website had a decent design and some handy functionality. However, I now find it increasingly easier to recruit models via other sites.

Part of onemodleplace's problem is that it hasn't evolved. The services it charges a premium for are being offered for a lower cost, or free, elsewhere. Its pricing structure has not changed, as far as I am aware, in the few years in wihch I have been a member. Thanks to technologies like PhpBB it is getting pretty easy to set up your own DIY community site and many photographers and models are choosing to do just that.

The other major problem I have with onemodleplace is that its a pretty US-centred site. The site doesn't understand regions within countries outside the United States with the result that its location-based search facilities are not that useful. When I search for models I am more interested in whether she lives close to me than whether she is 5'4" or 5'8'' and I am sure this is true of most other photographers.

The subscription fee I was being charged was my biggest single web-hosting/site membership cost and about half my hosting/marketing budget. For the same amount of money I can get a podcast hosting account (so that I can distribute video and audio) plus another domain name or two, which is probably going to be a better way of marketing myself.

I am sorry to hear about your issue with onemodleplace . I myself have been a member since 2001 and have only had one problem with them- they didn't honor my free upgrade when I won a online modeling contest in XXX a year ago (I actually met Brett there; he's a pompous ass, to be honest, and about 300 pounds). But all in all, onemodleplace is actually a decent site to hold your portfolio and you have access to thousands of others in the industry, if you don't ever run into any problems. Why not try ModelMayhem.com... I actually get more photographers approaching me for work there....good luck!

My experience with onemodleplace has been that very few of the models have ever showed up for scheduled tests. Most of the people I have contacted through that site seemed very unprofessional. I tried onemodleplace when it was free, but haven't used them in years.

On thing that may help you is even if you lost the claim on paypal you can try calling your credit card company that you have on file with paypal and they will most likely be able to help you.

All the inexperienced models are there not to gain experience but to make a quick buck. If you're in the porn industry, then you'll find a lot of people looking for a quick buck. If you're looking for models to respond.. best of luck.

sorry to hear about your bad experience with one model place- but rather than suggest people go to another of these sites, I wish you would have used your post as a perfect example of why not to deal with ANY of them- they are ALL the same- there is no guarantee for them to do anything BUT take your money. Using a reputable agent is THE only way to get seen by industry pros for casting or modelling- and even then it's not a sure thing- my agent pretty much sucks, but at least he doesn't charge me UNLESS he finds me work. Anytime someone asks for money to represent you- RUN AWAY should have been your message.

So I get a few emails today from people, ask if what brett from onemodelplace was saying about is true. Well if you want to know anything about please just ask. I am after all, not hiding anything about myself:

To prove this, below are the truths about myself:

OK so the general stuff is out of the way. Now for the good stuff. I am the type of person who wears many many hats, and I own and operate several corporations, some of which Brett seems to think are worth throwing out there to people as if I am hiding it. So here is it, and I'll run down the list. I do own adult websites, one of which is called assfinders.com/net/org. (SOLD the SITE!! $$$$) This site is an adult amateur based website that services the African American community. I have roughly 20,000 current members for this particular site. This sites business model, is based off the members providing the content as free members, and then paying to view the archived content. With this model, the site is considered a third party under title 18. The corporation that runs this site is Blacksheep Productions, Inc. and is based out of Las Vegas, NV. We own and co-locate 3 major enterprise servers for this site. The servers are located in data centers in: Dallas, Chicago, and St. Louis. Everything is done in the open and within the federal regulations, we are a member to our local chamber of commerce, AND we pay our taxes!! We use third party billing systems by CCbill and Epoch, we are in good standings with Visa! If anyone knows anything about Visa, then you will know they are VERY VERY strict on the type of sites they accept.

Other companies I own are web hosting companies, email services, web design services, computer consulting, programing, electrical consulting, process control consulting, think tank, and several documentary projects of varies natures.

I originally joined onemodelplace in late 2004, and my main account was in good standings with them until when my membership was due in January 2007. I had several issues with them, but nothing major. During my first few months with them, onemodelplace was going through some growing pains and they where adding several new servers. I had even talked with Kevyn Ferris, and Keven Reid, about there problems, and gave them a few suggestions. I have never claimed to be a guru, but I do know a few things.

In 2006 I opened up a second account under onemodelplace, but set it up as an adult producer. This is displayed very prominently in the profile. I was using this account for what onemodelplace is used for, to network and make contacts. I would talk and email models and other adult producers to inquire about developing content for some of my side projects. I made several contact in the rage of content producers, and adult models, along with some other models that just did artistic nude work. I had a good repor with everyone I had worked with during my time on the site. I did email non-adult models, but when I did it was always very professional and courteous. And I have to say that I don't honestly know as I am typing this, if I had asked any of the non-adult models if they where interested in that type of work. I would like to think I didn't, but I cant say with 100% certainty. I did however contact adult models to inquire about possible work. I would always ask what their limits where, their rates, and current schedule. And that in my opinion is not out of line and would seem quite normal protocol. Granted I didn't have any specific project(s) going on, but if I liked the models looks, I would try and shoot with her. I have only and will only shoot solo type work. Boy/Girl work is too much of a gray area and is not worth the trouble on any level. All model(s) I have worked with were paid in full at the end of every shoot, and i had them fill out a W9, along with a release and proof of age; title 18 recored keeping documents. In other words I kept everything on the up and up and legal.

Now some people might not know this, but there is an entire underground culture on onemodelplace dealing in the adult entertainment industry. But to access this, you have to be a platinum member of the site. Onemodelplace does hold a strict standard on the types of photos that can be uploaded to a profile, no X-rated shots, even though some can and are questionable.

Also on a side note, there is no age restriction or filter type system in place to keep a child from searching the onemodelplace site and finding naked model photos.

I used the onemodelplace's chat room services with my adult account. I used to go to their chat room all the time when is was open to all membership levels, back in 2005. I used it to network and make new friends in the photo/fashion/modeling industry. Some of which are very dear and close friends of mine to this day! AMY R. I LOVE YOU DEAR!! BE SAFE! Then onemodelplace changed the feature set of the site and closed the chat room to anyone that wasn't a silver or higher level. At that time I was the highest membership level, but essential it killed the chat room, and no one was ever in there. I let my main account's membership drop down to the lowest level in 2006. Sometime during 2006, onemodelplace changed there feature set back to allowing the lower memberships to enter the chat area. At this time I had my adult profile, and used that to chat with old friends. The reason I used this account was because my main account for some reason would not log on to the digichat, it would say you have to be a silver member or higher to use this chat. So again I ended up using my adult profile. I never did hide who I was in the chat room, I told my old chat friend who I was, and they all welcomed me with open arms. Now back in the day ( that sounds soo funny) we found a way to hide your onemodelplace profile number from displaying in the chat. All you had to do was add an “ ' “ to the end of your chat login name. We did that from time to time, and it was all done in good fun. It was during one of these time, that an admin logged on and told me to change my chat name back to normal. I politely asked him why, and he replied to me that it was against the rules. I am one of those peoples that reads the fine print on everything, and I never remember reading anything about your chat name. So I asked him to clarify what exact rule I was breaking. If I was breaking a rule, I wanted to know what it was, because maybe I had missed something! He didn't respond, but he did ban me from the chat room.

This is where I emailed brett and asked him to clarify why I was banned, and exactly what rule(s) I did break! Just like some of the other emails I had been receiving I got no answers. I let it go for awhile, knowing that they have a large member base, and having a similar one on my own sites, I can relate to support issues. Several weeks went by and I still didn't have any chat access, and no reply from support. SO again, like the others here have said; I sent another email to brett. AGAIN nothing after a few days. This is when I wrote my third email and added to the end, that I own the domain webmodelplace.com, and that I would just use it instead. I thought that an email like that would get a response. And it did, they deleted my account and took my 200+ in cash and said thank you, don't come back. Now let me tell you about webmodelplace! I bought this domain name SEVERAL years before this! I am an active participant in whats called domain AD parking. I buy a domain that sounds like another site, PARK the site with an ad company, such as godaddy.com and then purchase key search words from Google. What happens is if a user searches for the key worlds model portfolio, my site would be listed. If a person clicked on my link in the search engine it would bring up my AD page, and display links that where relevant to the topic typed in. In the case of this website, it WOULD DIRECT TRAFFIC TOO onemodelplace!!! I was a TRAFFIC provider to onemodelplace!!! I hope everyone is getting this.. I would essentially tell people to go to onemodelplace.

I was never going to use the site as a model site and never had any intentions to do so, it merely said to try and get a response out of brett. Granted it was the wrong one that I had wanted.

I believe that onemodelplace's business models are very week, and am setting out to prove this by means of this site.

I operate 20 million dollar + companies**(I am not saying that I have 20mill... geez people stop asking for money..), and have been one of the driving forces in increasing revenues and establishing new methods; in my own words “to think outside the box!”

I welcome comments! And Questions of all types! I am not hiding as some people have suggested... I am right here in front of you yelling at the top of my lungs!

Oh and I have to say that Brett did call me direct after all this started and was threating that he had a meeting with the FBI and that he had all my IP numbers and all this documentation to had over to them! And I really have to laugh out loud, because I cant think of where I could of violated any regulation. So brett if you read my blogs.. know this. I have been in contact with the FBI's Internet fraud department and had very lengthy conversations with them, along with providing them with documentary proof of transaction, and your emails. And that my friend is no joke!

Ok thanks for giving me a place to express my rant!

I had an onemodleplace account! I paid 200 buck a year to be a Platinum member, and this allowed me to upload larger photos, and to have more than the 5 for the base membership.

Well I noticed that when I was uploading images, onemodleplace was resizing them to a base membership. (that just makes the photos look like complete dog shit) Not very good for a portfolio!

So I did what anyone else would have done. I wrote to support.

3 days later... Nothing.

So I wrote to them again. A couple of more days go by and I write AGAIN! Now after almost 2 weeks, I am starting to get a bit PISSY. So I write another email to support. But this one was rather nasty; I threaten to cancel my membership.

Still no response! None at all! Not even a threat made them JUMP! So I figured the squeaky wheel gets the grease! So I sent like 20 emails to support in a time frame of about 10 mins! That was on a Saturday. That following Monday I received an email from a model and asked if I knew that my account appeared to be gone! I had no idea what she was talking about.

So I went online to look for myself, and I saw "we are sorry the member you are looking for does not exist" or something like that.

Again, I wrote Support and asked what was going one with my account. This is what I got back:

It appears that you violated omp policies on spamming.

We cannot allow you back on onemodleplace .

They deleted my account! To say the least I was shocked. I wrote several email to Mr. Brett, but got nothing back in return. So I went to Paypal to try and get my money back, but as it turns out you cant make a claim on a membership based site, because its not a shipped good. Paypay sent me a copy of the user agreement for paypal, and there is no claims venue on memberships, you have to take it up with the membership site!

To me it looks like a really good scam onemodleplace has going on, take your money and then delete our account and keep the money.

Also during the "tried" paypal dispute process, Brett made claims that I had Violated onemodleplace user terms and services. I have read over the User Terms 10 times, and have never found where I violated anything. Since when is emailing to support a VIOLATION!

So as of right now this is my new favorite site!! I am going to tell everyone I know about it.

I urge all users of onemodleplace to try other model portfolios sites that offer the same thing if not better:

I was scammed by www.onemodelplace.com. Over a year ago I discovered their site online and read all the stories about thousands of models getting contacted for work and what a great deal onemodelplace.com is. They make it sound so easy and so inexpensive.

Well 1 year later I have finally realized the truth. They are a scam!!!! I have cancelled my membership with them three months ago but still I get charged every month. No matter how many times I call I still am getting billed. Oh, and all those jobs out there that I was supposed to be contacted for all were non paying TFP's (Trade for Pictures) and almost all of them wanted me to be nude or doing some sort of porn.

If you are thinking about joining www.onemodelplace.com I would strongly recommend against it. I am out several hundreds of dollars because of those rip off artists....

As with any type of model/portfolio site... It is just a TOOL! You have to use it to promote yourself and get your face out there. Just simply sitting back and waiting for people to contact you will not really work and that goes for any model/portfolio site. All though, it seems that sometimes you are penalized for trying to use their member contact link.

I entered the One Model Place Bikini Contest in Aug. 2004 and was happy when I placed 2nd. One Model Place displayed my picture along with the rest of the top 10 winners. A few days later I emailed One Model Place asking about my prizes and they replied back a few days later saying the results were not official even though our pictures were already displayed. They explained that they had to make sure that everyone was following the rules.

A few days later they displayed the winners again with my picture and name removed from the top 10 completely. They did not accuse me of cheating or not following the rules and I did follow the rules and did not cheat, in fact they did not contact me at all with any type of explanation for why I was removed from 2nd place and from the top 10.

I emailed Dan Beyer, Marketing Director since this is who One Model Place told me to contact with contest problems. I emailed Dan Beyer about 3 times and never heard back. He ignored my emails. I called him a few days later and just received a recording.

One Model Place acted in a very unprofessional manner with me and I am very disappointed with my treatment as a paying customer for their site. I am entitled to my 2nd place prizes and would like your help. Also other models need to know about the poor treatment that I received from One Model Place regarding this matter and something needs to ge done about the illegitimate contests One Model Place has.
