I like the guy's architecture, but he's not someone you'd want at your dinner party, trust me.

NickAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15549266.post-1175776098136122152007-04-05T13:28:00.000+01:002007-04-05T13:28:00.000+01:00I so agree with the end of this article - being su...I so agree with the end of this article - being sustainable is not about doing it for yourself, it is about doing what is best, most efficient and most sustainable.

We speak to a growing number of client who are happy to install expensive eco-technology, but refuse to (for example) insulate solid walled buildings. As ever we should be reducing our energy use first- rather than generate more.

I have a vision of whole streets of old terrace housing undergoing external insulation programmes - making solid, usable houses fit for another 50-100 years of use. I regularly have the argument that this spoils the aesthetics of a house - but apparently bolting a wind turbine on doesn't affect the aesthetics....

I don't think we have the social or political will in the UK yet - too many people think climate change is a huge issue - and that someone else should do something about it....

Matt

Sustainable Building SuppliesAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
