Yeah, I don’t use pen-and-ink (at least not for this project). The illustrations are still done by hand though – they aren’t processed using Photoshop or anything. The photography is the source material and then I do the illustrations in Macromedia Flash. I use Flash for a couple reasons, but the main one is that the brush tool has a line quality I can’t find in other digital illustration apps.

As far as cyber-celebrity goes, we’ve actually had a couple cases where childhood friends were reunited through the book. An old friend of mine found me through NYC2123 and recently one of the main characters had an old friend track them down through us after seeing the book. No paparazzi yet though.
