The mysterious Stig, "Top Gear"'s resident racing driver and one of the most popular members of the "TG" team, has finally got a book of his own. But you'll have to work hard to find him, as he's been cleverly concealed in a series of brilliantly drawn scenes. You might spot him getting down with the kids at a rock festival; or overseeing his workforce in his secret underground lair. He could be one of the spectators lining the route of Bonneville Salt Flats Speed Week; or soaking up the sun on the Costa del Stig. Filled with visual jokes and references to the TV series, and with extra credits for spotting his colleagues at "Top Gear" and a few other hidden gems, "Where's Stig?" will give "Top Gear" fans hours of fun.

Chessington World of Adventures Map

I recently completed the 2009 visitor's site map for the Chessington World of Adventures theme park. It was pretty labour intensive & challenging involving site visits & lots of photo reference. It had to be an accurate representation of the park & rides, while being easy to use as navigation for the guests.

After over 5 years in my current Greenwich studio with Second Floor Studios & Arts (SFSA), tomorrow I'll be moving to the new SFSA studio space. SFSA are on the move to new premises near the Thames Barrier, as finally the winds of change (ok, more like a big bulldozer) have caught up with our current building.

EcoLabs presents The Climate Road Show

I've recently contributed to the ECO Labs Climate Road Show project which will feature the Six Degrees project, with artwork by Airside, Rod Hunt, Jody Barton, Kate Evans, Jamie Slimmon, and Leona Clarke.

This project takes Mark Lynas’ book Six Degrees as a starting point. The book uses evidence compiled from hundreds of peer-reviewed scientific papers to illustrate the projected changes with each degree of climate warming. Six artists each responded to one degree of climate warming. Graphic designer Si Yeun will make the work into a series of posters for exhibition at The Climate Road Show.

Some people believe that you are not a real creative contender if your visual work is not on the internet… and whether you have your own website, use stock libraries, portfolio websites, or display your work on YouTube, MySpace or Flickr, you are also competing and struggling for attention with a vast number of other creatives showcasing their visual work on the internet and trying to get new business and new clients.

So how do you cut through the jungle to find the clients you are happy to work with? We will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the different types of visual libraries, what to look out for before signing up to a portfolio site and whether user generated websites are just about exposure, trust and good will or really do provide a longer term business opportunity.

Own-it, the Association of Illustrators and the Association of Photographers have invited a panel of practitioners and industry experts to share their experiences of self-promotion on the internet and how you can stand out from the crowd. They will give practical tips on selecting websites that work for you, what to consider when creating your own website and how to keep control of your copyright in a digital environment. And last but not least, we would like to discuss with you ways of working which sets professionals apart from the crowd.

There will also be a legal expert on hand for all questions legal that may arise during our discussion.

Nick Dunmur, Photographer
A commercial and advertising photographer based in Nottingham for the twenty years he has been in business since attending Trent Polytechnic and completing the degree course there. Nick works for a number of national and international agency and direct clients and has been fully involved with digital since 2000.
Nick is the Pro-Imaging representative on the newly-formed British Photographic Council (a coalition of all the major photographic trade bodies in the UK). In addition, Nick is a director of the Association of Photographers.

Stuart has worked as a freelance illustrator for over 20 years. He has created imagery for a diverse range of editorial, publishing and advertising clients across the UK and USA.
In the late 90s, the advent of new technology led him to explore the best ways of promoting his work online. The creation of his own website led to web development work for others including the Association of Illustrators with whom he has had a long involvement.
