Puram held its Investiture Ceremony. The Chief Guest was Mrs.Arti Mehra, Mayor of Delhi, along with other dignitaries like Mr. Ashok Chandra, Chairman of the DPS Society, Mr. Pramod Grover, Vice Chairman of the DPS Society; Mr.V.R.Vaish, Prof. B.P. Khandelwal, Lt. Gen. J.S. Bawa, Members, DPS Society; Mr. Jang Bahadur, Nominee of the Dept. of Education; Mr. P.C. Bose and Mr. V.K. Sharma, Nominees, Advisory Board; Mr. Vinod Bansal, PTA Representative; Justice N.N. Goswamy and Mr. Narendra Kumar, former Chairmen of DPS Society; and a special guest Mrs. Santosh Bhatti, all of whom were heartily welcomed by the Principal Dr. Shayama Chona. </p><p style="margin:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt"> </p><p style="margin:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt">The ceremony commenced with a melodious song sung by the talented Diwakar Sharma. Excitement was in the air as the prospective school appointees waited in anticipation for those illustrious badges, which would secure their posts in the Student Council. The Principal, Dr Chona, in her welcome speech congratulated Mrs Arti Mehra for being elected Mayor for the second time and calling her a ‘great visionary’ expressed her appreciation for her ‘youthful spirit’ which is always an inspiration for others. Dr Chona stressed on the significance of the occasion as the students are invested with special responsibility and hoped that this empowerment would make them ‘proactive and good role models for the school.’</p><p style="margin:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt"> </p><p style="margin:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt">Marking the passing of the glory of the school to another set of able hands, the school banner was passed from the former head boys and girls to the newly appointed ones. This was followed by the march past, led by the new appointees. Mrs Arti Mehra administered the oath of office. The head boys and girls shared their visions for the institution and resolved to lead with courage and determination. “Climb every mountain, follow every rainbow, and translate your dreams into reality. Don’t follow a known path, rather go where there is no path at all and leave a trail” was their view.</p><p style="margin:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt"> </p><p style="margin:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt">The Chairman, Mr Ashok Chandra addressed the gathering and felicitated Dr Chona for receiving the prestigious Padma Bhushan. He congratulated the new appointees and highlighted the need of “shouldering responsibility, upholding the rank of distinction and bringing glory to the school.” He also urged them to “emerge as leaders of the country, in different walks of life”. The Chief Guest, Mrs Arti Mehra, in a motivating speech, exhorted the students to be good role models, to work with a zeal and compassion, taking others along with them.” She said “Whatever you do, do it with your heart”.</p><p style="margin:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt"> </p><p style="margin:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt">Next came the cultural performances, in the form of a colourful dance. The school choir gave an inspiring rendition of the song ‘Tarana’, followed by a patriotic dance by the students of the Anubhav Shiksha Kendra, which enthralled the audience.</p><p style="margin:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt"> </p><p style="margin:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt">The august morning came to an end, with a vote of thanks by the Vice Principal, Dr. Saini, who expressed his gratitude to all the dignitaries.
