Come out to Alife Hollywood this Thursday night, July 9th, for CAPTURED. Produced by Ben Solomon and Dan Levin, CAPTURED documents 30 years of the Lower East side and Clayton Patterson, a photographer film maker and pioneering public figure. The event will feature an in store installation of Claytons work as well as limited DVD and print for the event. Clayton will be in attendance there and will participate in a short Q&A session after the screening.

A little bit about it all: Since 1979 Clayton Patterson has dedicated his life to documenting the final era of raw creativity and lawlessness in New York City’s Lower East Side, a neighborhood famed for art, music and revolutionary minds. Traversing the outside edge he’s recorded a dark and colorful society, from drag to hardcore, heroin, homelessness, political chaos and ultimately gentrification. His odyssey from voyeur to provocateur reveals that it can take losing everything you love to find your own significance.

Check out some pictures from the Five Four Summer 09 Look Book. This season Five Four steps away from the loads of details they are known for and returns to simplicity, which I appreciate. I think it is an indication of them recognizing where the economy is and catering to a multitude of style pallets. I like how they mix in colors with black and whites. The blue color of the Greenwich short sleeve woven shirt is extremely trendy right now, which is great for the more stylish guys, but Five Four then offers a white and black option for those who want to keep it clean cut. There are a lot of good striped pieces whether it is horizontal or vertical pinstripe. There is not an overload of plaid which can be seen in the market right now. The collection has a lot of pieces that are easy to wear which also mix well together. I am also of fan of their walk shorts cut to the knee.
